The teacher interviews mainly focused on the potential of educational apps such as Specual iApps for playful learning with relatively little consideration on technical considerations. The Template Analysis revealed 9 broad themes including Engagement, Fun, Playfulness, Attraction or Appeal, Assessment, Ease of Use, Personalized Learning, Accessibility/ Interactivity, and Reduced Disruptive Behaviour. Based on the analysis of the results and their implications, the paper provides a series of recommendations and directions that can be used as a reference among the software developers and designers to create educational apps for children with complex needs offering real educational value.","PeriodicalId":261969,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Software Development and Technologies for Enhancing Accessibility and Fighting Info-exclusion","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115657588","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Current approaches to computer interoperable guidelines typically consider only a single clinical guideline for a single condition. There is a need to establish a robust protocolized approach to the development of holistic consensus computer interoperable guidelines in the context of multi-morbidity. The presence of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia adds an additional challenge to the delivery of effective digital health solutions. CAREPATH proposes an ICT-based solution for the optimization of clinical practice in the treatment and management of multi-morbid older adults with mild cognitive impairment or mild dementia. In this manuscript, we present an evidence-based protocol for the development of a single computer interoperable holistic guideline for a collection of multi-morbid conditions. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first published protocol for the production of a consensus interoperable clinical guideline for people with multi-morbidity, with special focus on older adults with MCI or mild dementia. This addresses a still unmet need for such processes which are expected to play a central role for future integrated healthcare information systems.","PeriodicalId":261969,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Software Development and Technologies for Enhancing Accessibility and Fighting Info-exclusion","volume":"258 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121817574","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These devices and technologies can be of great use helping people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) due to their potential to access information and make social contacts easier, promoting their well-being and social inclusion. Digital technologies can help removing barriers to their use and promoting equal rights and opportunities for all. However, little research has been done to explore the patterns of use and difficulties in using digital technologies experienced by people with IDD. This study seeks to overcome this gap by surveying information on the digital skills of people with IDD, their habits of using digital technologies, and the factors that facilitate or hinder this use. This study surveyed 78 people with IDD about their knowledge, frequency of use, goals, and autonomy in using digital technologies. The results demonstrate the need to implement new approaches to promote the digital inclusion of people with IDD, ensuring that they have access to digital technologies as well as the possibility of learning to use them flexibly and adapt to their conditions. Moreover, the results of this study highlight the importance of developing support networks that involve school, family, and community that can offer a range of initiatives to promote the digital and social inclusion of individuals with IDD.","PeriodicalId":261969,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Software Development and Technologies for Enhancing Accessibility and Fighting Info-exclusion","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128663149","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper analysed the effects technological innovations and online shopping have had on the consumer experience. This was an exploratory, descriptive study using the quantitative approach. In the first phase, a questionnaire survey was developed and applied to individuals under the age of 40. In the second phase, OLAP analysis techniques were used to explore the data and obtain insights/knowledge about the respondents’ opinions through Microsoft's Business Intelligence (BI) tool. The main conclusion was that shopping online allows consumers to save time, thus contributing to their quality of life.","PeriodicalId":261969,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Software Development and Technologies for Enhancing Accessibility and Fighting Info-exclusion","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115337117","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An automated method for computing the body measurements makes the applications more easily accessible to the end-users, without a need to be familiar with the measuring standards. The lack of standardization is also a big drawback of existing methods in the field. To address the task of body measurements estimation from visual data, we present an end-to-end deep learning-based model built from inception modules to accurately extract values for a pre-defined set of body dimensions from a single grid-structured point cloud. Such data structure jointly combines the benefits of a grid structure as present in 2D images, and the 3D real world coordinates contained in 3D data. We evaluate our method on a large-scale dataset of virtually scanned synthesized human bodies, while reaching the mean absolute test error of approximately 4.5 mm.","PeriodicalId":261969,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Software Development and Technologies for Enhancing Accessibility and Fighting Info-exclusion","volume":"25 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116288600","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the last years many robots are becoming part of the set of devices present in many homes, schools, and social or care centers. As part of this global movement, robots also started to involve persons with disabilities, giving them the innovative possibility to interact with an artificial device, properly programmed; in the case of children, they have been mostly developed to support play, the prominent activity in childhood, to enable them to play well, satisfactorily, autonomously, happily. This scope can be achieved now, by adopting a multidisciplinary approach, because children's needs are varied and complex, as well as their ludic preferences and the contexts where they live: to propose them meaningful and pleasant play experiences, knowledge from different disciplinary areas must be put together. After some considerations about the peculiar aspects faced in the last years by researchers involved in this specific multidisciplinary area, the paper presents Guidelines to develop play activities based on robots, addressed to children with disabilities.","PeriodicalId":261969,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Software Development and Technologies for Enhancing Accessibility and Fighting Info-exclusion","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130132584","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study analyses the accessibility of Audiovisual DLR, specifically video resources, fixed images, and podcasts. Three matrices were developed, considering the accessibility requirements proposed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Unfortunately, there is still a large proportion of educational websites and platforms that do not pay attention to accessibility issues. After the analysis of some Portuguese digital manuals and two DLR repositories (one Portuguese and one international), the need for standardization of technology and application of standards and guidelines related to digital accessibility was revealed. It was found that it is urgent to implement accessibility solutions in this type of resource, mainly in terms of audio description, sign language translation, subtitles, and alternative text, avoiding access barriers to digital education.","PeriodicalId":261969,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Software Development and Technologies for Enhancing Accessibility and Fighting Info-exclusion","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125231773","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Designing digital games that are easy to use and learn for elderly players also challenges the literature. In this context, this study presents a variant of the Cognitive Walkthrough (CW) method to evaluate digital games that consider the cognitive decline during ageing. We did an exploratory analysis by conducting three studies to create adaptions to the CW. We developed two versions of Cognitive Barriers Walkthrough (CBW) to help specialists find the usability problems that can reach the elderly target. For each version, we conducted evaluations with experts and users and compared the problems found by CBW and CW. Both CBW versions found more problems than CW in all our studies. Although observing users during the evaluation process increases the time spent by experts, we noticed that it helps experts find new problems that they did not find previously based only on their own experiences.","PeriodicalId":261969,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Software Development and Technologies for Enhancing Accessibility and Fighting Info-exclusion","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126806373","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These online services provide many benefits to older adults, but also introduce challenges and risks related to privacy and data security. These challenges must be understood and addressed for older adults to accept and safely use these services. This paper focuses on older adults’ understanding of and experience with privacy and data security in their daily use of online services. Using a qualitative approach, we conducted in-depth interviews with 23 older adults. The thematic analysis showed that although the participants are generally active users of online services, they still have challenges in understanding their rights and applying effective strategies to protect their privacy and data. This study contributes to better understanding of older adults’ experiences and challenges in different context and calls for better online service design and government support for older adults to use online services.","PeriodicalId":261969,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Software Development and Technologies for Enhancing Accessibility and Fighting Info-exclusion","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114317685","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
