Socially assistive robots need to empower their ability in recognizing emotions in a way to change the interaction with humans, especially with elders. This paper presents a framework for speech emotion prediction supported by an ensemble of distinct out-of-the-box methods, being the main contribution of the integration of the outputs of those methods in a single prediction consistent with the expression presented by the system's user. Results show a classification accuracy of 75.56% over the RAVDESS dataset and 86.43% in a group of datasets constituted by RAVDESS, SAVEE, and TESS.","PeriodicalId":261969,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Software Development and Technologies for Enhancing Accessibility and Fighting Info-exclusion","volume":"234 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124486879","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Internet is used in many ways, from carrying out searches on a wide variety of topics to accessing online services such as those offered by hospitals. Thus, the need for these websites to be accessible to all individuals, including those with some sort of disability, is essential. The goal of the present research has been to analyze 48 of the leading Spanish public hospitals’ website homepages to assess their levels of compliance with accessibility and readability guidelines. This perspective has allowed us to determine exactly how accessible health information and hospital services are for citizens. In order to analyze accessibility, a qualitative method based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 standard was used. This method combined manual code inspections with the use of both accessibility tools and automatic tools as validators. Furthermore, a quantitative method, by means of a readability metric, was used to analyze readability of the texts of the analyzed websites. The findings revealed that many of the analyzed websites violated critical accessibility guidelines. In addition, several accessibility errors were identified, such as images without any textual description and a lack of information regarding the purpose of the links. These deficiencies have the greatest impact on accessing websites by people with disabilities. Related to the results of the readability of the texts on hospital webpages, it was found that, in general, they are somewhat difficult to understand by most people.","PeriodicalId":261969,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Software Development and Technologies for Enhancing Accessibility and Fighting Info-exclusion","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121991207","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The process followed four stages: internal phase of the program's organization, with research in the literature and analysis of the materials available in the Portuguese market; construction of the SCARA prototype; evaluation by experts; and data analysis. A Content Validity Index was calculated to determine the level of agreement between the experts. The level of agreement between experts showed the validity of SCARA. SCARA has shown to help the work of the speech-language pathologist and persons with aphasia, contributing to a higher therapeutic quality, enhancing linguistic recovery, and compensating for the impossibility of direct support more frequently and/or prolonged intervention.","PeriodicalId":261969,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Software Development and Technologies for Enhancing Accessibility and Fighting Info-exclusion","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132692453","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sheltered workshops were closed and sheltered accommodations were sealed off to the outside. To ensure that the needs, concerns and experiences of people with disabilities can still be heard, the KI-I developed new instruments and procedures for online peer-to-peer evaluations. This paper shows that it is possible and useful for people with learning disabilities to carry out or participate in online peer-to-peer interviews. Digital participation plays a crucial role in enabling people with disabilities to participate in digital life and thus, in many cases, participate also in social life.","PeriodicalId":261969,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Software Development and Technologies for Enhancing Accessibility and Fighting Info-exclusion","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115675719","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Silva, Diana Carvalho, Paulo Martins, Tânia Rocha","doi":"10.1145/3563137.3563171","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1145/3563137.3563171","url":null,"abstract":"The evolution of virtual reality (VR) technologies has been notorious, both for leisure activities and for activities related to education. The efficiency of this technology in education leads us to point out several benefits and strengths, for students with specific educational needs (SEN), especially for those with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). In this sense, the growing number of students with ASD requires us to innovate so that we can rehabilitate this group of students, giving them a better quality of life. We can improve their skills: social, behavioural, emotional, cognitive; and even their daily tasks. VR offers a panoply of tools, such as interactive three-dimensional simulations of scenarios that can be used with students with ASD. In this literature review several studies were identified, where they differ in the type of applications developed and the technology used by the students. Although optimism prevails, we need more studies on the use of this technology in educational settings. Thus, this article presents a systematic review of the state of the art on VR perspectives and case studies applied to students with ASD. Case studies are presented where VR technology has been successfully applied and with results that demonstrate the effectiveness of the technology in students with ASD. We are aware that much has to be done still to make the potential of VR an effective reality in the educational context and to allow a better quality of life for students with autism spectrum disorders. Also, we believe that in the next years teachers will be ever more capable of creating specific VR experiences. However, it is essential to have a solid theoretical basis to support the correct use of VR regarding students with ASD. This is our goal with this contribution.","PeriodicalId":261969,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Software Development and Technologies for Enhancing Accessibility and Fighting Info-exclusion","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117213388","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For most users, the use of websites does not entail great difficulties, but for individuals with special needs, namely visual impairments, this type of task becomes complex and makes it difficult or even impossible for the blind or visually impaired population to enjoy and take advantage of this type of services. Therefore, these resources and services must be accessible to the entire population. In this sense, this study appears as a contribution to simplifying the experience of access and use of visually impaired users in the context of web pages, from the creation of tutorials in audiovisual format with accessibility solutions that help this audience navigate Portuguese governmental websites.","PeriodicalId":261969,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Software Development and Technologies for Enhancing Accessibility and Fighting Info-exclusion","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116866939","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
