Since their position determines how the war is perceived, it is essential to identify and popularize educational practices capable of transforming the mass media from a “mouthpiece of news” into an active educational force. Founded by The New York Times, The Learning Network uses the newspaper’s materials as a teaching tool. In January 2022, nearly a month before Russia’s full-scale military aggression in Ukraine started, The Learning Network began training the English-speaking teenage audience to tell the world the truth about the realities, causes and possible consequences of the Russian-Ukrainian war. The paper introduces various media educational practices of the network, emphasizing teaching about the ongoing war. It has been concluded that media education, combining teachers and mass media, can promptly create a didactically substantiated model of the educational process aimed at developing media literacy, critical thinking skills and lifelong learning.","PeriodicalId":261606,"journal":{"name":"EUROPEAN HUMANITIES STUDIES: State and Society","volume":"276 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116558105","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problem of individual resilience is becoming especially relevant today, when Ukraine is at war. The issue of preserving physical and mental health of Ukrainians is especially important. No one here was not ready to live and work in war conditions. At the same time, we are able to form an optimal response to these events with the help of resilience. The purpose of the article is to identify the key resilience strategies of Ukrainian teachers in war conditions based on the analysis of the results of the research conducted by the authors. Methods. This research is a part of wider program \"Codes of resilience\", developed to improve the resilience skills of teachers. The authors use the multidimensional model of overcoming stress and finding internal stability \"BasicPh\" of Prof. Mooli Lahad to identify the key resilience strategies of Ukrainian teachers in war conditions. This model consists six channels for coping with stress: – belief; A – affect; S – sociability; I – imagination; C – cognition; Ph – physiology. Results. The results of the study showed that the most influential way to overcome stress for teachers is their cognitive settings. Information analysis, critical thinking skills, planning strategies, etc. are the most common ways among teachers to respond to external challenges. The second most influential factor of stress resistance is the worldview of teachers. It turned out that teachers do not actively use their own emotional settings to overcome stress. The same we can say regarding their creative settings. The readiness of teachers to rely on the strength of communities in difficult times (social settings) also needs additional attention and additional research. This factor was the least influential.","PeriodicalId":261606,"journal":{"name":"EUROPEAN HUMANITIES STUDIES: State and Society","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130530884","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the course of the study, the factors and principles determining the uniqueness of modern society are revealed. The post-industrial society is characterized by the availability of modern information resources and technologies, as well as developed information structure, where necessary information resources are constantly updated. The essential features, regularities of formation and functioning, role and main tasks of the new elite are analyzed. The problem of elite influence on the policies of governments of different levels is studied. The elite is determined to play a key role in the formation and development of social strata, which perform managerial functions significant for individual citizens and the country as a whole. A distinctive feature of the new elite is possession of information and knowledge, not material values. Its influence is due to scientific competence and the position of a leader in commercial, political and scientific institutions. Therefore, capital as the main constituent of influence is replaced by knowledge. Intelligence, information and knowledge are proven to be important factors of both technological progress and social self-determination. Moreover, the key for society development task of the new elite is integration of two polar social classes, the intellectual class and unskilled workers. Thus, modern education system, which combines studying the aspects of information activities and traditional research issues, should provide the basis for the formation of the new elite.","PeriodicalId":261606,"journal":{"name":"EUROPEAN HUMANITIES STUDIES: State and Society","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126310386","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This especially affected the most vulnerable categories of the population, including young people who are getting education in higher education institutions. Students from Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Kherson and Dnipropetrovsk regions are now studying at Berdiansk State Pedagogical University. Three of them have been at its epicenter from the first days of the war. Even when the students reached their parents, they still remained in the occupied territory, and some in the war zone, which led to different reactions to stressful situations. Experiencing these traumatic events depends on the individual development of psychological self-defense mechanisms, the insufficient formation of which affects the state of resilience as a personal resource. The article presents an overview of theoretical approaches accumulated in domestic and foreign scientific sources devoted to solving the problem of resilience. In particular, it is indicated that the war is a long-lasting and powerful factor of psychotrauma, which generally affects the psychophysical state of an individual; the importance of both the internal potential of an individual and external resources for the development of his/her resilience is emphasized; the characteristics of the structural components of resilience are presented. Based on a survey of higher education students, the psycho-emotional states of those ones who are in different life situations are characterized: in the temporarily occupied territories, in the territories controlled by Ukraine in the status of an internally displaced person and abroad and in the status of a refugee. Furthermore, the impact of their problems on their resilience has been established. The article emphasizes the importance of psychological support for students of higher education institutions as a social environment where it is possible to prevent the formation of negative patterns of behavior, help to survive, learn to perceive the surrounding reality and communicate with it. The article also reveals the role of a non-traditional form of psychological support for applicants – an online camp in the Telegram channel - in the formation of resilience. The approximate content of the work is given, which is aimed at developing its structural components: involvement, control, and risk acceptance. The practice of holding two camps confirms the thesis about the possibility of transforming stressfullife events into new opportunities for young people, regardless of the state of war in the country.","PeriodicalId":261606,"journal":{"name":"EUROPEAN HUMANITIES STUDIES: State and Society","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129236905","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
