The state of quarantine restrictions due to the incidence of Covid-19 caused an active transition of most spheres of activity, including education, communication of educational process to the mixed form with the help of digital technologies. In particular, they became assistants to educators at various levels: from secondary school to institutions of higher education. The adaptation was successful with some shortcomings, which can be solved at the individual level of communication between teachers and students of different levels. Such educational trends as digitalization of the educational process, continuous learning, strengthening of social inclusion, academic integrity, combination of education with science, project-based learning, academic mobility of students and teaching staff, media literacy, psychological support of students in the educational process, recognition of the results of non-formal and informal of education within the educational process, visualization, gamification, interactivity of education, soft-skills: development of social and emotional intelligence,critical thinking, ability to quickly adapt to new conditions, etc. helped all participants of the educational process in Ukraine to boldly adapt to the unusual conditions of long-term quarantine and continue their work even in war conditions. Owing to the financial and material assistance of other countries, it is planned to rebuild destroyed educational institutions and infrastructure according to new standards, develop a new network of educational institutions, and develop in science and technology. The active implementation of educational trends at ZhytomyrIvan Franko State University allows the institution to develop educational directions even in conditions of geopolitical challenges and war.","PeriodicalId":261606,"journal":{"name":"EUROPEAN HUMANITIES STUDIES: State and Society","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129055165","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study aims to investigate how emotions such as anxiety, stress, and depression impact language learning and to identify tools for educators to measure the affective filters of students. The study is based on Krashen's Affective Filter Hypothesis and adopts a qualitative phenomenological design. The data was collected from 32 Bachelor students at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv through an online multidimensional Anxiety-Stress-Depression Test and open-ended questions. The results indicate that the students’ emotional state, such as increased levels of anxiety, has a significant impact on their language learning performance and reduces their cognitive resources for focus and learning. The study highlights the importance of considering students’ affective factors in language teaching and the role of teachers in creating a supportive and collaborative learning environment to reduce anxiety and promote self-efficacy. The conclusion emphasizes the complexity and uniqueness of each student’s experience and the need for appropriate supports to mitigate the effects of adversity and promote positive potential.","PeriodicalId":261606,"journal":{"name":"EUROPEAN HUMANITIES STUDIES: State and Society","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131692186","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The findings of the study made it possible to introduce an innovative part of the speaking exam format that was developed and implemented in 2021 and 2022. The impetus for this implementation was the tense social and political situation that arose in connection with the threat of COVID 19 and the beginning of military operations in Ukraine, which forced teachers to adapt the educational process to the new reality. In this regard, the principles of students’ autonomy and critical thinking have become of primary importance. It was highlighted that questioning plays an important role in the critical thinking development of the students. The analysis of the literature on the use of B. Bloom's Taxonomy and its updated version showed that the researchers made a great contribution to the development of teachers to use questions of different cognitive levels of Bloom’s taxonomy to outline the goals and assess the knowledge of schoolchildren or higher education students. Considering that asking questions is very important for students as future physicists, our research emphasized a student-centered approach. An extended structure of the speaking exam for the 4th year students of the Faculty of Physics, which was called a prepared speech, was developed. The principles of autonomy, scientific approach, academic integrity, critical thinking, creativity and hierarchy of tasks were defined. According to them, an algorithm of tasks for prepared speech has been developed. Based on the observation and the students’ survey, conclusions were drawn regarding the high level of motivation of students to perform the proposed structure of tasks. Achievement orientation helped students to overcome the anxiety caused not only by the exam, but primarily by the war. Asking questions they gained a deeper understanding of the physical subject, new vision of the phenomenon and developed the necessary professional skills of critical thinking. These facts show the viability of the innovative exam format in the war period.","PeriodicalId":261606,"journal":{"name":"EUROPEAN HUMANITIES STUDIES: State and Society","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124994351","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, Ukraine should implement a broad program of measures to achieve creative cooperation and be open to economic, informational, cultural, and educational investments. The successful solution of these tasks implies, on the one hand, the purposeful formation of universal Euro-Atlantic values and social and cultural orientations in the mass consciousness and, on the other, the preservation of Ukrainian national identity and uniqueness, which are revealed when education is considered as a method to promote Ukrainian interests by spreading Ukrainian cultural and educationalexperience and by finding its intellectual niche. The author notes that innovative educational activities make it possible to identify problems in developing students' and teachers' social and personal competencies, which are associated with the need to define value and meaningful content and the risks of informational, political, and military confrontation. The article emphasizes that the complexity of innovative educational activities in educational institutions under martial law in Ukraine requires the teacher to analyze the general social, political, economic, and cultural signs of the unity of Ukrainians and represent the national space.","PeriodicalId":261606,"journal":{"name":"EUROPEAN HUMANITIES STUDIES: State and Society","volume":"204 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126079193","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Teaching students in Ukraine nowadays is associated with a high degree of stress. This especially applies to learning a foreign language, which already involves a certain level of stress, as it requires performing a significant number of interactive tasks, constant communication and involves foreign language acquisition. In order to research this issue, the authors analyzed the main approaches to the study of stress in modern psychology as well as physiological and mental state of students while learning a foreign language for specific purposes. The article outlines the didactic and psychological features of foreign language learning and its principles. During practical foreign language classes with students, we conducted an empirical study using the method of included longitudinal observation, chosen in order to avoid psychological traumatization and retraumatization, as well as providing emotional support in educational environment that is familiar to them. As a result of the study, three groups of students have been distinguished according to the way the stress symptoms are revealed: manifestations of minor, moderate and severe stress. The authors analyzed characteristics of their cognitive activity while learning a foreign language and motivation to study. The article presents the author's model of a person's psychological reactions to stress which proves that stressors can affect the human body and mental health in two ways, causing both emotional exhaustion and personal growth, leading to the enrichment of life experience and helping to find meanings in life.","PeriodicalId":261606,"journal":{"name":"EUROPEAN HUMANITIES STUDIES: State and Society","volume":"102 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127267996","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Correlation of the best interests of the child and the right to education in the conditions of martial law in Ukraine","authors":"T. Tomlyak","doi":"10.38014/ehs-ss.2023.1.07","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.38014/ehs-ss.2023.1.07","url":null,"abstract":"Children's education is the foundation of their comprehensive development: intellectual, spiritual, physical and cultural. Education depends on the socialization and well-being of the child, the development of an educated society and the state as a whole. Despite the martial law introduced in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the 2022-2023 academic year on the territory of Ukraine started on time on September 1, 2022, taking into account the security situation in each settlement in a mixed form. Thus, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in the safest areas of the country gave parents the right to choose the form of education of their child - face-to-face or distance learning. n our opinion, this is the right approach to organizing the educational process of minor children. After all, it is the parents who bear the personal responsibility for ensuring the child's right to education. However, the current legislation does not contain rules regarding the consideration of the best interests of the child by parents and state authorities when the child obtains a complete general secondary education. In our opinion, it is important to take into account the best interests of the child in the educational process in the conditions of martial law in Ukraine, since the safety of the child, his life and health depend on this, besides, the education of the child plays an important role in the formation of society and is the key to a successful developing country. Within the scope of the research carried out, the author concluded that ensuring the best interests of the child in the educational process during martial law is the сontinuation of the child's education in conditions safe for life and health, in particular in a remote form (including when the child is outside the territory of Ukraine) , even if it will lead to a decrease in the quality of the knowledge acquired by the child. Therefore, ensuring the best interests of the child along with the constitutional right to education, even under martial law, is a priority for our state.","PeriodicalId":261606,"journal":{"name":"EUROPEAN HUMANITIES STUDIES: State and Society","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126524472","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
