In this paper we present briefly the inverted pendulum and its modeling. After that we describe two controllers to swing a pendulum attached to a cart from an initial downwards position to an upright position and maintain that state. The first is the sliding mode control (SMC) where we present the design methodology for a class of linear saturated systems. The second is the classic Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) control. The constraint of saturation is reported on the control vector. To highlight results we present a comparative analysis with a SMC and LQR controllers with saturation.","PeriodicalId":259067,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Communications, Computing and Control Applications (CCCA)","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117211699","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of the proposed method is to eliminate the restrictive dissipativity condition from the stability proof that is present in many previous works presented in the literature. In this paper, the observer gain calculus is cast as a linear matrix inequality (LMI) feasibility problem. This formulation is therefore numerically tractable, but can also be solved analytically for the second order systems. Simulation results for state estimation and parameter identification of a one degree of freedom (1DOF) electromechanical rotary model are introduced to demonstrate the effectiveness of the designed algorithm.","PeriodicalId":259067,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Communications, Computing and Control Applications (CCCA)","volume":"45 10","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120816289","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We constructed a general mixed integer programming model of VRP-SPDTW. We present an Improved Ant Colony System (ACS) for the VRPSPDTW (Vehicle Routing Problem with Simultaneous Pick-up and Delivery with Time Windows). We submit adaptations and additions to the different solutions for VRPSPDTW. The real treated problem is to minimize the number of bus fleet that have to serve several schools (stations) for pick-up and delivery of different groups of students at different time windows. In detail, this problem is particularly complex. The significant improvement is to take into account the individual time windows, the time of service in each station and the preference function related to operation type at each served station.","PeriodicalId":259067,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Communications, Computing and Control Applications (CCCA)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125847185","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Key issues of designing such systems are interconnecting, memory management and task placement and scheduling. This paper addresses the problem of placement and scheduling of real-time DAG-structured applications in these emergent reconfigurable hardware devices. This paper presents a scheduling/placement methodology that uses mixed integer programming to establish the optimal static scenario for executing a set of periodic real-time inter-dependent tasks on reconfigurable devices. Experiments are conducted on a DAG composed of heterogeneous hardware tasks to evaluate the placement/scheduling quality. The results demonstrate a resource gain of 27 % achieved by the run-time reconfiguration concept compared to a static design. The configuration overhead is reduced to 1 % of the total running time. Due to pipelined scheduling, the task graph spanning is minimized by 4 % compared to sequential execution of the graph and the waiting time is reduced up to 7 % of the overall running time.","PeriodicalId":259067,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Communications, Computing and Control Applications (CCCA)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129579438","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Local features are quantized to form a textons visual dictionary. This procedure allows the representation of each textured image by a vector of counts which represent the frequencies of the textons in the texture. Having the count vectors in hand, we introduce a new mixture model for the accurate modeling of these vectors. This mixture model is based on a composition of the Beta-Liouville distribution and the multinomial. The novel proposed model, that we call multinomial Beta-Liouville mixture, is optimized by expectation-maximization (EM) and minimum description length, and strives to achieve a high accuracy of textured image data discrimination. The developed approach is competitive with recent proposed count mixture models and its classification power is demonstrated through experimental results on various textured images data sets.","PeriodicalId":259067,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Communications, Computing and Control Applications (CCCA)","volume":"283 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132022588","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The first level of the procedure is triggered when the impact of the fault on the system performance is limited. The reconfigurable controller is updated by the new post-fault system model. At the second level a dynamic reference modification based on Reference Governor (RG) is proposed. The idea consists of modifying the set-point or reference according to the allowable performance degradation and the system constraints which become more strict after fault occurrence in order to avoid any actuator saturation and ensure system stability. The effectiveness of the proposed solution is illustrated by a wind turbine example subjects to actuator faults and constrained on the actuator dynamic ranges.","PeriodicalId":259067,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Communications, Computing and Control Applications (CCCA)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130410562","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this area many researches have been published, most of them consider the problem of the power management and try to implement an efficient energy in their protocols. Moreover, the special characteristics of sensor nodes like limited battery power, limited computing capability and low bandwidth make the data dissemination protocol design very complex. Therefore, in our data dissemination design given in this paper, we propose new power management scheme using dynamic power threshold. The proposed protocol starts by an initialization phase, in which the sensor network will be organized under grid virtual and in each cell a cluster head will be selected. In the second phase, the data dissemination process begins to disseminate the detected data from sensor node to the sink. The simulation result shows that the proposal protocol consumes less energy and has a longer network lifetime compared with other previous protocol.","PeriodicalId":259067,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Communications, Computing and Control Applications (CCCA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129197505","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
