After undergoing transtibial amputation, patients were referred to Rehabilitation Department for prosthesis prescription and rehabilitation to restore mobility and to successfully reintegrate the patient into community. This study aims to identify the current patient’s mobility, independence and mental status following amputations. This study was done between May 2017 and August 2018, four patients above 60 years old were referred to Medical Rehabilitation outpatient clinic as candidates of prosthesis use after unilateral transtibial diabetic amputations. Mobility status, Barthel Index, Mini Mental State Examination and Geriatric Depression Scale were evaluated through medical records and interview. Two patients who completed rehabilitation programs, ambulate with prostheses without obstacles and are mild dependent with current better mental status. Two patients who did not, are moderate dependent ambulating with wheelchair. In conclusion, patients who completed rehabilitation were more independent, ambulatory with prosthesis and have better mental status. Factors such as social living conditions, initial cognitive and independence levels may be considered as functional outcome predictors. Further investigation with better method and larger sample size is needed.","PeriodicalId":258037,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 11th National Congress and the 18th Annual Scientific Meeting of Indonesian Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Association","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121357245","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Return to Work Following Low Back Pain 腰痛后重返工作岗位

Along with personal suffering, LBP can result in decreased productivity and absenteeism. It is also one of the leading causes of lost work time. Rather than viewing work resumption as a discrete event, returning to work after an episode of work disability can be viewed as process that encompasses a series of events, transitions, and phases, and includes interactions with other individuals and the environment. The return to work (RTW) process is conceived of as the process workers go through to reach, or attempt to reach, their RTW goal (typically a return to their pre-disability work participation). The process is thought of as beginning at the onset of work disability and concluding when a satisfactory long-term outcome has been achieved. A successful RTW coordination seems more based on ergonomics job accommodation, communication, and conflict resolution rather than on medical or purely biomechanical knowledge. It is very substantial for Rehabilitation Medicine to pay attention to this need to achieve the goal of LBP clients to RTW successfully.","PeriodicalId":258037,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 11th National Congress and the 18th Annual Scientific Meeting of Indonesian Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Association","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133315098","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Three patients with chronic ischemic stroke were given visual imagery therapy carried out twice over three weeks, without stopped the occupational therapy. At the end of the treatment, an increase in hand function was found in all three cases, using the DASH questionnaire. In the first case, there was a significant increase in hand function in the activities of holding a motorcycle and car steering wheel, holding a shopping bag, and cleaning hair. In the second case, there was an increase in the function of opening and closing the jar, opening the lock, opening the door handle, attaching the object to the rack, cleaning the back, and holding the motor steering wheel. In the third case, improved hand function was found in carrying heavy objects, shopping bags, and wearing clothes. There was no decrease in hand function reported in all three cases after the administration of visual imagery therapy. This shows that visual imagery therapy as an adjunctive rehabilitation treatment to motor function in patients with chronic ischemic stroke gives good results.","PeriodicalId":258037,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 11th National Congress and the 18th Annual Scientific Meeting of Indonesian Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Association","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129331653","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

She complained about difficulty in swallowing, dry saliva, and inadequate coughing. First Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) indicated that she had oropharyngeal neurogenic dysphagia with risk of post swallowing aspiration and Functional Oral Intake Scale (FOIS) was 1 with tube dependent without oral intake. She got 12 times Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) in suprahyoid and infrahyoid muscle for 60 minutes and biofeedback 2times/week, breathing and oromotor exercises, Mendelsohn maneuver, Masako and Shaker Exercise. After 2 months of intensive rehabilitation, the second FEES showed a progression that patient might swallow semi-solid food with repeated swallowing, FOIS was 2 with tube dependent with minimal oral intake and after 5 months continued with oromotor and swallowing exercises FOIS was 3 with tube supplements with consistent oral intake. QoL was assessed with M.D. Anderson Dysphagia Questionnaire, result was improving from 53,68 to 70. A 23-year-old male with accompanying problem of multiple pressure sores, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and anemia; and a 13-year-old-female with accompanying problem of pressure sores and anemia. Debridement and flap surgeries were performed in treating existing pressure sores. Six weeks of tailored-made rehabilitation program were given including the prone positioning in the midst of the ongoing program. Each subject completed peak cough flow (PCF), peak flow rate (PFR), and Spinal Cord independence Measure (SCIM) for respiratory function-interview based. Re-admitted chronic SCI patients had exercise tolerance which put them at risk of pulmonary complications. A good exercise tolerance will support the respiratory function by increasing vital capacity (VC), thus enhancing cough ability as a protection of respiratory system. Prone position also has certain advantages that can still be conducted by SCI patients in preserving respiratory capacity. Conclusions: Good exercise tolerance along with good airway cleansing technique is an effective way to prevent complications of the respiratory system in chronic SCI patients who must be in a prone position for a certain period of time.","PeriodicalId":258037,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 11th National Congress and the 18th Annual Scientific Meeting of Indonesian Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Association","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122127608","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

She was born prematurely on 31 weeks of gestation and was diagnosed with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy (CP) at the age of two years. During supported standing, she still had noticeable equinus on both of her feet. We gave comprehensive rehabilitation consisted of a hospital-based and home program. Hospital-based management was done two times per week included dynamic neuromuscular stabilization (DNS) technique and conventional exercise such as stretching, strengthening, and postural control exercise. The home program was done three times per day consisted of DNS, swimming, cycling, standing in an inclined surface, squat to stand exercise and stretching exercise. After two months of a rehabilitation program, she was able to stand unaided and walk 2-3 steps independently. We also added botulinum toxin injection on her gastrocnemius muscle and hinged AFO prescription to improve her walking ability. Comprehensive rehabilitation program involving healthcare providers and family is an effective approach in catching up walking ability in a patient with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy.","PeriodicalId":258037,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 11th National Congress and the 18th Annual Scientific Meeting of Indonesian Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Association","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116519133","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The 6-minute walk test (6MWT) has been recommended by the American Thoracic Society to measure exercise capacity, but it is time-consuming for the investigator and exhausting for frailty elderly. This study aims to investigate the validity and reliability of 2 minutes walking test (2MWT) as measurements of physical performance. A cross-sectional study was performed. Each subject performed 6MWT as a gold standard and two trials of 2MWT in two consecutive days at approximately the same time. The walking test was performed in the same corridor with the same starting point. The subject was allowed to used ambulation aid. Frailty was measured using the Cardiovascular Health Study score. The final subjects included sixty elderly (26 men, 34 women with mean age 73.40 years old). Pearson's r correlation of VO2max between 6MWT and 2MWT was strong (r= 0.791, p=0.000). The 6MWT and 2MWT showed excellent reliability (ICC=0.926, p=0.000). The 2MWT was shown to be a reliable and valid test for assessment of exercise capacity following rehabilitation in frailty elderly. It is practical, simple, and well-tolerated by frailty Elderly.","PeriodicalId":258037,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 11th National Congress and the 18th Annual Scientific Meeting of Indonesian Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Association","volume":"56 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123494486","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Twenty adult men divided into speed (SG) and inclination groups (IG) running on a treadmill EN_Mill 2007 for 30 minutes, three times per week in 2 weeks. SG started 5 km/h and increased 1 km/h every minute without inclination until the target heart rate is reached (70% MHR). IG started 3 km/h with increasing of inclination 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, 10%, 12.5%, 15%, 20%, 22% every minute until target heart rate is reached (70% MHR). Blood samples taken 30 minutes before and after exercise in first and last training. Significantly decreased of plasma IL-6 levels in both groups before and after exercise at first training (p=0.001) and before-after exercise at the last training (p=0,004) in SG, while in inclination group plasma IL-6 levels before-after exercise showed no significant decreasing (p=0,107) at the last training. In both groups, there is significant delta (Δ) of plasma IL-6 levels between before exercise at the first and last training (p=0.001), between after exercise at the first and the last training (p=0.001). Plasma IL-6 levels decrease with exercise either by increasing inclination or speed gradually.","PeriodicalId":258037,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 11th National Congress and the 18th Annual Scientific Meeting of Indonesian Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Association","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127384865","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
