In this paper, we present a Content-Centric Networking (CCN) based Virtual Private Community (VPC) service which aims at supporting intuitive content sharing experience in a secure and distributed manner. VPC is a hierarchical and closed user group which consumers themselves can easily create and manage on their own devices. In VPC architecture, consumer content is shared by VPC-based content forwarding policy which is also based on hierarchical content naming. We prototyped the VPC architecture on the consumer devices to demonstrate the potential of user-oriented and distributed consumer network platform.","PeriodicalId":256368,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129606512","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

From the previous studies, it is well-known that arterial stiffness is a reasonable indicator of cardiovascular events and thus can be used as a prognostic factor of cardiovascular diseases. To evaluate arterial stiffness, various diagnostic techniques, such as the pulse wave velocity (PWV), have been proposed and applied. Although these techniques show high performance in assessment, they have poor usability partly due to the restriction on the test place. In order to cope with this problem, we propose the DVP-based arterial stiffness estimation, which can be utilized in home health management systems. Firstly, we extract pulse features that are predictive factors of arterial stiffness. After that, we perform a multiple linear regression analysis to obtain the prediction equation of arterial stiffness. By using the equation, we can estimate arterial stiffness with the digital volume pulse. From the experiments, we can insist that our proposed approach can be used as a noninvasive estimator of arterial stiffness in home health management environments.","PeriodicalId":256368,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130086453","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The channel zapping time, which is inevitable time until the user watches the display of the selected channel when the selected channel is not available at the mobile device, significantly affects the QoS (Quality of Service) of mobile IPTV services. This paper presents a simple but effective adaptive channel control scheme that reduces channel zapping time and improves user perceived QoS in the mobile networks. The proposed scheme controls a user behavior-based channel setup of a prebuffering channel and video quality adaptation. The experimental result shows that the proposed scheme can significantly reduce channel zapping time.","PeriodicalId":256368,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE)","volume":"90 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130440494","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
