According to IEA (International Energy Agency), it will triple over the next two decades, reaching a level equivalent to the present total home electricity consumption of the U.S. and Japan combined. Therefore, improving the energy efficiency of these devices has become critical. Our project, called ugreen, seeks to motivate power consumption awareness and behavioral change among laptop computer users via human-computer interaction (HCI) feedback mechanisms with college students as the initial target group. We have chosen college students because they are avid laptop users with 87.7% of them reporting laptop ownership [1], and user behaviors play an important role in the total laptop system power consumption [2].","PeriodicalId":256368,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE)","volume":"429 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123043351","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The point of the algorithm is that an ROI can be treated as a whole picture while the background can be regarded as another one. The motion compensated temporal filtering (MCTF) and disparity compensated view filtering (DCVF) is then separately applied for them in proper order. Experimental results show that the reconstructed quality of the ROI can be improved at low bit rate compared to SMVC and content-based SMVC (CSMVC).","PeriodicalId":256368,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121771997","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Owing to the different characteristics of images, the 2-D images are first classified into three categories and then processed by the proposed low complexity techniques to generate the depth map. With good quality in the generated depth map, we achieve about 90% in complexity reduction using the proposed algorithm, which is beneficial to real-time realization through hardware or software implementation for the stereo applications.","PeriodicalId":256368,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE)","volume":"23 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113979633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed method has two steps : First, the proposed method prioritizes SVC layers and slice groups by their importance using flexible macroblock ordering (FMO). Secondly, it allocates them to the prioritized networks by packet loss rate. The experimental result shows that proposed method can improve video quality by around 3 dB in PSNR, and has better error resilience features than conventional methods.","PeriodicalId":256368,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129311412","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposes a new purple fringing correction method using colorization in Yxy color space. In the proposed method, a chromaticity diagram based method is first used to detect the purple fringed region, and then this region is corrected by colorization. Colorization is an effective method for correcting purple fringing. The colors of intact pixels near purple fringed region are set to those of seed pixels. Experimental results show that the regions, which are corrected by the proposed method, look more natural to human observers than those that are corrected by other existing methods.","PeriodicalId":256368,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131373124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
