Different IPTV standards have specific protocols to access (including update) the metadata database of their specific schemas. In this paper, we present a generic protocol that enables an IPTV device to access discovery metadata of different schemas. This approach also supports the evolution of metadata schemas in the future.","PeriodicalId":256368,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121236702","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By using the developed algorithm, users can automatically merge images into a panoramic image, even these source images have rotation and zooming actions. We adopt feature-base estimation to get the relation between images and employ down-sampling to reduce computing complexity. We also apply a copy-paste and texture-base scheme to remove the clear seam in the result image. Realized in an embedded system with 512MHz RISC, the proposed algorithm could achieve a XVGA image stitching in 0.6 second.","PeriodicalId":256368,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127327497","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In general, a TVA metadata description is delivered from a content provider to a terminal device over a transport link. Because such metadata description can become very large, it is essential to encode each fragment of the metadata description in a compressed format before the delivery and then decode the encoded fragments at the terminal device. This paper proposes a new encoding procedure for TVA metadata based on the EXI and presents performance comparison results between the proposed encoding procedure and the existing TVA encoding procedure.","PeriodicalId":256368,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE)","volume":"136 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125814300","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Scalable video algorithms (SVAs) using the novel principle of priority processing guarantee real-time performance on programmable platforms, even with limited resources. Dynamic resource allocation is required to maximize the overall output quality of independent, competing priority processing algorithms that are executed on a shared platform. In this paper we describe the mapping of a priority processing application on the Cell/B.E. platform. We compare the performance of different implementations for dynamic-resource-allocation mechanisms, and show that priority processing achieves real-time performance.","PeriodicalId":256368,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122814152","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
