The background of this research is based on the results of the study stated that basically English teachers in Senior High School already implemented several strategies in teaching reading comprehension, however, the researcher is interested to know more about strategies that were used by the teachers in teaching reading skill. Besides, this research also presents the factors that influenced the teachers to choose certain strategies in teaching reading comprehension. The study was conducted with 4 English teachers who were teaching English subject at SMA Negeri 1 Ampek Angkek. The data were collected through observation and interview. The results of the analysis show that the English teachers use four strategies in teaching reading comprehension, they are: 1)Think-Pair-Share, 2) Reciprocal Teaching, 3) Question and Answer Relationship, and 4) Small Group Discussion. Two strategies are not used by the English teachers that are Know-What-Learned and SQ3R strategies. Two important conclusions can be drawn from this study. First, small group discussion and question and answer relationship were the most popular strategies that are used by the English teachers. Responding to such problems, this paper aims at finding out translation strategies employed by student translators in solving equivalence finding-related problems. This study used a descriptive method taking the English-into-Indonesian translation process done by student translators as the data. The data were collected using keylogging (Translog) and screen recording (Camtasia Studio 8) tools, and were analyzed using translation process technique of data analysis. The results indicate that the five strategies – naturalization, generalization, description, borrowing and deletion – used by the student translators in solving the equivalence finding-related problems are helpful for differently specific equivalence finding -related problems. This article explains the online reading texts and Whatsapp chats improve the students’ reading comprehension of Grade Eleven of SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau. This study is classroom action research (CAR). The procedures of the research consist of four major steps: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The finding shows that the use of online reading texts is effective to improve the students’ ability in reading comprehension. The improvement can be seen from the increase of their scores from preliminary test, test of cycle I and cycle II. the percentage of the correct answers of the students was 62.50%, it increased to be 71.32% in cycle I test, and then it became 75.00% in cycle II test. There was also a satisfying improvement for this kind of question. The percentage of the correct answers of the students for making inference questions in preliminary test was 59.56%, it increased to be 69.85% in cycle I test. Qualitative method was employed as the research design. The data were in the form of clauses gained from corruption courtroom discourse in Medan district court, Indonesia. The findings reveal that marked and unmarked themes were realized in the data. The new curriculum brought a new textbook. This study aimed to determine to what extent did the 2013 English textbook curriculum meets the criteria of a good book in the form of Psychological Validity, Pedagogical Validity, and Process and Content Validity. This research used a descriptive method. The findings were taken through a checklist and interview instrument. Researcher filled in the checklist then conducted interviewed with the English regarding the use of the textbook. The results showed that Psychological Validity only fulfilled 54.76%, Pedagogical Validity was 52.78% and Process and Content Validity was 65.63%. Based on the research conducted, it can be concluded that the curriculum 2013 English textbook had not all met the criteria of a good book. Therefore, it was recommended that the Education Ministry and all stakeholders in the field of education should review the material and presentation methods in this book. For English teachers, it is recommended to improve their creativity and teaching abilities, prepare other resources for studying this book. These reveal that there is a growing awareness that oral participation can have consequences beyond the success of language learning. Factors that influence students’ oral classroom participation might vary. This research is mainly attempted to identify the factors that influence students’ oral classroom participation in English classroom. A qualitative study was employed where the data taken from observation and questionnaire to 54 students of English Tadris Department at The result of the study showed that factors related to Role of Faculty, logistics, grading and personality traits gave strong influence toward students’ oral classroom participation. Specifically, interesting topic selection and supportive classmates impact the level of their participation. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative research. The source of the data is the cause and effect essays written by the students taken by random sampling. The instrument used in collecting the data is writing test. There are 13 cause and effect essays as the source of data. Next, the data is analyzed by using the indicator of a good cause and effect essay that is divided into three categories; the introductory paragraph, the body paragraphs, and the concluding paragraph. The research findings showed that the students’ ability in writing the introductory paragraph of cause and effect essay was considered good (84.62% of students belonged to Good category). Next, the students’ ability in writing the body paragraphs of the essay was considered poor (53.85% of the students belonged to Poor category). The instruments used in this research were the Flesch reading ease formula, questionnaire, and interview. The result of the readability formula showed that there were three of six texts used which were inappropriate to the XI grade students where one of them was categorized as difficult since it was appropriate for college or university students. Meanwhile, the two other texts were categorized as easy for XI grade students because those texts are actually appropriate for students in grade 8th-9th. Based on the students’ perception, there were two texts categorized easy, three texts categorized moderate and one text categorized difficult. There were some factors that cause the barrier to comprehending the text. It began with a lack of vocabulary, lack of knowledge about syntactic complexity and the length of the text which was unfair. Then, according to the teachers’ perception, there were five texts categorized moderate and there was one text in which both teachers disagreed with. Research design of this research was qualitative descriptive. This research were involved 3 English teachers and 30 students of the 3rd, 4th, 5th local of the first grade of MIPA. Sample of this research was chosen through purposive sampling technique. Data collected through interview and questionnaire. Data of these instruments were analyzed in different ways. Data from interview was analyzed through some steps: familiarizing and organizing, coding and reducing, interpreting and representing. Meanwhile, data from questionnaire was analyzed by dividing the total score with the ideal score. The result of finding showed that the strategies that teachers used in teaching speaking of text types were Storytelling and Role Play, and students’ motivation was high category.
