Those acts led to complete upheaval of the institution, numerous firings of faculty and staff personnel and the mass exit of others. The result was that a once well respected institution was now on the ropes and faced the possibility of shutting its doors.","PeriodicalId":253960,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Teaching and Case Studies","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123165801","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is based on the conceptual framework of the BGF theory and the Uppsala internationalisation process model. The research questions will be answered using a multiple case study research design with qualitative, in-depth, face-to-face, semi structured interviews of twenty subject matter experts (SME). The research results show that factors like the skills of the entrepreneur and the management team, their business networks, the business model of the BGF, the market entry mode, the successful implementation of a structured market development process, the uniqueness of the technology and the product portfolio, the availability of market opportunities, and the size of their home market influence the speed of internationalisation.","PeriodicalId":253960,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Teaching and Case Studies","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129307038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While looking for solutions to discourage those student classroom misbehaviours, Dr. Hansen had a conversation with one of his friends, Dr. Choudary who is a professor teaching organisational behaviour at another university. After the conversation, Dr. Hansen learned from Dr. Choudary that human behaviours are goal-oriented, which may be used to explain those student classroom misbehaviours. Dr. Hansen wondered how he can apply motivation theories to discourage student classroom misbehaviours and motivate students to learn technical skills for developing mobile apps.","PeriodicalId":253960,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Teaching and Case Studies","volume":"493 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122898719","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper explains how a tutor-developed interactive card game was integrated into evolving repositories of material, including student-developed artefacts, aimed at enhancing learning in three selected undergraduate modules. The solution was used to illustrate key computer programming concepts, to explore the capture and use of knowledge to simulate intelligent behaviour in a limited, comprehensible domain and to stimulate systems design projects. The work is presented within the wider context of actively engaging students in individual and team tasks to foster insight and understanding in systems design and development, and to involve them practically in modelling and building systems. The paper provides evidence of student achievement and suggests that there are mutual benefits for teachers and learners in sharing knowledge in this way.","PeriodicalId":253960,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Teaching and Case Studies","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134014918","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper, firstly and empirically, demonstrates the process of accreditation which includes self-study prior to application of accreditation, major changes required by EAC and further follow-up modifications. This is aiming to share experience, especially, with other private institutions in the country or the gulf region which are also pursuing or preparing to pursue the same for quality assurance and enhancement about the name and reputations. Meanwhile, by further changes to the curriculum, the expected outcomes of the program will be evaluated by Bloom's taxonomy in a classification contains 15 outcomes of civil engineering program. Such classification is defined by Body of Knowledge (BOK) committee in its report The Civil Engineering Body of Knowledge (BOK) for the 21st Century. The reason to cite this classification of outcomes is because it was designed to evaluate the outcomes of ABET accredited institutions.","PeriodicalId":253960,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Teaching and Case Studies","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134348272","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This initial effort is designed to advance the movement toward effectuating the inclusion of ethics in marketing courses. The authors use as a starting point the Hunt-Vitell general theory of marketing ethics. This paper then reviews the research on specific marketing ethics subjects and uses that data in semi-structured interviews conducted with experienced marketing professors from the USA, Canada and China. Some of the specific topics reviewed with the interviewees included ethical aspects of general marketing, advertising, sales force management and consumer relations. The results of this preliminary study provide practical groundwork for a larger study and further research into incorporating ethics into various marketing courses. This may provide a more complete marketing education experience for undergraduate marketing majors.","PeriodicalId":253960,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Teaching and Case Studies","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130516415","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this multiple case study, BGFs are defined as high-tech start-up firms (HSFs) from a small and open economy (SMOPEC) like Switzerland. The theoretical framework consists of the Uppsala internationalisation process model and BGF theory. A sample of 20 subject matter experts (SME) is interviewed. The results of this study show that the significance of the speed of internationalisation of HSFs is considered essential for the survival of HSFs from SMOPECs. Consequently, all SMEs included early and fast internationalisation in their business plans and built their business models accordingly.","PeriodicalId":253960,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Teaching and Case Studies","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122391187","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
