The aim of the research project was to understand the creation and explicit exchange of tacit knowledge in this environment, focusing on both the individuals and the project team. A phenomenological approach was adopted, based on participant observation, meetings recording and analysis, and grounded theory. Unlike most tacit knowledge research, the goal was to capture the creation of knowledge in its moment rather than by the participants’ recall of the phenomena. Results highlighted the significance of five different types of trigger in new knowledge generation, turning tacit knowledge into explicit knowledge. The article concludes that, despite the recent evolution of the software development environment in the digital age, a qualitative, informal, people centric approach to analysing knowledge development and exchange is still an effective means to securing positive outcomes in software development.","PeriodicalId":253960,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Teaching and Case Studies","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124781930","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is multi-billion market that creates 130,000 jobs in Colombia and is estimated to generate more than 200,000 jobs in the USA related to different businesses in the floral supply chain, such as the US importers, distributors, wholesalers, and retailers ranging from small florists to mega supermarket chains. The goal was to understand the role of Miami International Airport and how it became the gateway for nine on every ten fresh cut flowers that enter the USA. A case study on the Kroger floral supply chain was performed, and data was analysed under the theory of constraints. Findings indicate that although MIA is not a central location to naturally become a logistics hub for a distribution of such perishable product, because it was able to identify an important system constraint involving cold chain, customs, time, process, and culture; exploit them and organise several of other of its process around them, MIA became the gateway for flowers in the USA.","PeriodicalId":253960,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Teaching and Case Studies","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124201599","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study examines how and why certain packaging attributes influence purchasing intention for home health and direct to consumer (HHDTC) medical devices. This study uses a multiple case study research design to examine the perceptions of healthcare experts about the influence that colour, graphics and labelling information have on purchasing intention for HHDTC medical devices. Interviews with 11 healthcare experts are the primary sources of data. The theoretical framework by Saeed et al. (2013) is used in this study. The findings suggest that packaging attributes are not as important to product sales as they used to be. It appears that some of the healthcare experts believe that the internet might be responsible for this shift.","PeriodicalId":253960,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Teaching and Case Studies","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121481440","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It considers why the company was seeking to list its shares on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) at this time and the possible issue price for these shares using valuation multiples from a competitor (Lyft Inc.) that was already listed. The difficulties associated with valuing Uber's IPO are examined by considering the legal, regulatory, staffing and other problems which affected the company at this time. This case considers whether Uber had the characteristics of an unsuccessful IPO. The main purpose of this case is to highlight how the first-day returns for the IPO performed poorly relative to findings from the literature about past IPOs. Finally, the case considers possible explanations for the poor first-day returns.","PeriodicalId":253960,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Teaching and Case Studies","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122727950","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Even though promising approaches for achieving full autonomy exist, developers and manufacturers have to overcome a multitude of challenges before these systems could find widespread adoption. This multiple case study explored the strategies some hardware and software developers of self-driving cars use to adapt traditional vehicle design frameworks to their needs. Notable themes emerged around regulatory uncertainty, functional safety, rapid iteration, and achieving a competitive advantage. Some findings of the study include the need for better regulatory frameworks to provide certainty, consumer education to manage expectations and universal development standards that could integrate regulatory and design needs into a single approach.","PeriodicalId":253960,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Teaching and Case Studies","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133086288","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The independent variables are CVC isomorphism, the CVC unit's location, the industry where the corporate mother company operates, and the year of foundation. After carefully collecting and analysing the data on the most active CVCs from 2017-2018 and quantitative regression analysis, this paper suggests finding a critical impact that the year of foundation and the organisational isomorphism have on CVC performance. Our results further show that there is no explained impact of the number of investments or the amount of exits as well as CVC location and CVC industry on CVC performance.","PeriodicalId":253960,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Teaching and Case Studies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130321035","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, organisational leaders have a gap in knowledge about this group's distinctive experiences. A conceptual case study design was followed through a literature review approach to present the present state of knowledge focused on current research findings on bicultural managers' boundary spanning competencies and multicultural team effectiveness. This study is framed by three key concepts of bicultural competence, boundary spanning, and leadership emergence in multicultural teams. This integrative literature review provides in-depth knowledge for understanding the management experiences of biculturals and the implications of their competencies and skills in leading multicultural teams. Bicultural managers possess an understanding of multiple cultures that can enhance team outcomes and complex team-level competencies associated with better performance. This integrative literature review can be utilised by future researchers as foundational material in studies to extend theoretical foundations and to extend the results of prior related studies.","PeriodicalId":253960,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Teaching and Case Studies","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115258113","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the same time, the paper examines how the aforementioned variables are influenced by demographics. For this reason, a case-study through quantitative research was conducted, through the use of questionnaires completed by a sample of 253 adults, permanent residents of Lesvos Island in Greece. Findings showed that the level of adults' EK was moderate, while the PEB level ranged from moderate to slightly positive. Apart from gender, all examined demographics seemed to influence EK and PEB levels; whereas PEB was found to be, to a limited extent, positively dependent on EK. The survey constitutes a pilot study which can constitute a valuable model-tool at an international level for future researchers as well as for environmental education practitioners who wish to introduce effective environmental training programs at all levels of formal education.","PeriodicalId":253960,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Teaching and Case Studies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116216028","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Attributes of case studies have an impact on performance. One attribute of interest, that influences the time required to read a case study, is the storytelling element of backstory structure. In this article, a case study is rewritten with three different backstory structure types. A human experiment is conducted to understand which backstory structure type is the most effective in memory retention. Results from the experiment indicate that reading time can be reduced by employing a minimalistic backstory structure type without hindering memory retention. The findings can be applied by engineering practitioners and educators for selecting and developing case studies that may be used in training.","PeriodicalId":253960,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Teaching and Case Studies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130879145","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
