Komedia w trzech aktach [A Negro. A comedy in three acts] from 1917 and Kowal, pieniądze i gwiazdy. Sztuka w trzech aktach [A blacksmith, money, and stars. A play in three acts] from 1948. Drawing attention to the fact that the world presented in most of Szaniawski’s dramas is connected with the province, the author demonstrates how realistic spaces, far from the tumult of the big world, contrast with the metaphorical spaces of the protagonists’ longing, freedom and dreams. The most important basis for this reading was the understanding of the body and its ontological perspectives proposed by Ewa Domańska and Monika Bakke. The author of the article analyses two pieces by Jarosław Mikołajewski, a reportage Wielki przypływ [Great high tide] and a children’s story Wędrówka Nabu [Nabu’s Wandering], and seeks the answers to the following questions. What image of Lampedusa emerges from the reportage? What is the impact of the refugee crisis upon the lives of its residents? And finally, what is their attitude to the Other? Following Mikołajewski’s thinking, the author reflects on the challenges that the immigrants “at the gates of Europe” pose. In her opinion, Mikołajewski’s stance is open and emphatic. It refers to the history of the escape of Orthodox peasants from the eastern territories of former Poland from the German front during World War I in 1915. The text takes into account the feminine and peasant aspects of experience and memory. In addition to the interpretation of Aneta Prymaka-Oniszk’s historical reportage Bieżeństwo 1915. Zapomniani uchodźcy [Biezhenstvo 1915. Forgotten refugees] and memory studies, the author draws on her own participant observation during the preparations for the 2018 participatory performance “Bieżenki”, which involved the granddaughters of the bieżeństwo refugees from Białystok and Podlasie. She traces the transgenerational transmission of the bieżeństwo in the three-generation family with an emphasis on the generation of granddaughters. Its various forms have been acknowledged but without a deeper consideration for the evolution of the genre. The article analyzes the reviews from the periodicals and newspapers from the 19th and 20th centuries. The author points out that the character of reviews depended on the type of a periodical, the section, and the character of the reviewed work. The author demonstrates that the world presented results from a complex textual form that oscillates between a fairy tale and a mystery play. These two genological forms constitute an interpretative lens through which the world of real events in the drama is read. However, he is not interested in the tourist “view” of the continent and its textual explication. A three-week confinement in a cabin and occasional meditative “trips” ashore allow Białoszewski to make interesting testamentary, eschatological and “final”, reconciliations with himself, the world and life. Both literature and cartography are narratives about reality, both can also be treated as modeling systems (in a semiotic sense). The intersection of these two perspectives raises many questions, regarding, i.a. relations between word and image, reality and fiction, space and text. Literature is an artistic discipline, whereas cartography is a scientific one. Another key idea is the proposal by Adriana Cavarero about the functions of relation and narration in building female identity. In the first part of the article the author focuses onthe original experiences of Anne Frank during her time in hiding duringthe Second World War, which were recorded in her diary. Nowadays, thesame building hosts the Anne Frank Museum, which is one of the most popular museums in the Netherlands. The author of this article analyses opinions of visitors published on Trip Advisor and notes that the experience of visiting this museum is connected with various strong emotions. This experience is often considered to be unique and one of a kind.
