The algorithm is inspired by the popular game Ladder and Snake (LandS) with some modifications of the game's rules to adapt it to the MPPT problem. The algorithm was tested on a PV system modeled using Matlab/Simulink environment and compared to P&O and IC, which are the two most commonly used techniques for the MPPT objective. The results of the test show that the algorithm correctly identifies the MPP and stabilizes the system around this point. The comparison results show also that the proposed algorithm outperforms the other two techniques in terms of the tracking speed and accuracy.","PeriodicalId":253361,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 6th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123328877","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Indeed, we carried out an experimental study using a spectrometry technique composed of an integrating sphere connected to the spectrometer by an optical fiber. Thus, the correlated color temperature, the color rendering index and the chromaticity coordinates of multichip LEDs luminaire were measured for different power supplies. In addition, the evolution of mentioned parameters over time during 180 min of LEDs' operation under the same power supply was pursued to verify their time stability. This allows us to highlight the effect of the current injected into the LEDs luminaire in relation to its radiometric performances.","PeriodicalId":253361,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 6th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121898281","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim is to reduce the pollution caused by colored industrial waste from the tannery. This study is based on the application of the experimental design method, during the physicochemical treatment of colored industrial tanneries waste, from the city of Mohammedia. The modeling established by the method of experimental plans, makes it possible to analyze the turbidity more deeply by taking into account the various relevant factors governing it. The experiment plan method introduced is a homogeneous set of tools and algebra-statistical methods aimed at establishing and analyzing the relationships between the quantities studied (responses) and their sources of variation (factors). In this work, this analysis is a quantitative study: methodology of response surfaces (variation of responses depending on influencing factors). Its purpose is to determine a mathematical model, of the second order in order to characterize the turbidity (the response), which is expressed as a function of the factors (the concentration of ashes, the pH and flocculant). This modeling is deduced from the data obtained from a series of experiments. Optimizing the turbidity studied is a specific method of constructing response surfaces, based on the Box-Behnken plan. The validation of the theoretical model has been demonstrated by the experimental results.","PeriodicalId":253361,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 6th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129458811","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To optimize such systems, the objective function which should be calculated, depends on the electric potential distribution in the space created by the lenses. To obtain the electric potential, the existing methods are generally based on some mathematical techniques which need to mesh the space of the lens system and derive the electric potential at all mesh points. Hence, calculation of the objective function for such systems are computationally expensive. Therefore, applying a fully automatic optimization routine has not yet been feasible, especially for lens systems with many free variables. Hence, the study of objective-function landscape of such problems has not yet been performed. One of the questions of interest for optical designers, that has not been studied in the literature, is whether this problem can be solved by a local optimizer or is it necessary to apply a global optimizer. Recently we succeeded in implementing a method (based on a so-called SOEM (Second Order Electrode Method) technique) which calculates the electric potential in a fast and reasonably accurate way. In this paper, that method, is implemented to perform the study of local versus global optimization for electron lens design. The global optimization method here is performed by GA (Genetic Algorithm). The objective function is taken to be the probe size of the electron beams at the image plane. The results of our study show that the objective function of this problem has many local minima and the optimization of such problems cannot be handled by a local optimizer. GA is shown to perform well by overcoming these multiple-local minima to arrive at a global minima.","PeriodicalId":253361,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 6th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124149286","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The use of conventional direct speed sensors involves additional electronic components, additional wiring and space, frequent maintenance and careful assembly, which undermine the robustness and inherent reliability of the drive. To overcome the aforementioned drawbacks, this paper proposes an effective sensorless direct torque control algorithm for asynchronous motor which combines a sliding mode observer and a model reference adaptive system for rotor speed and flux estimation. This conjunction is intended to minimize mechanical stress, improve the control performance by enhancing the feedback information and reduce the classical observer sensitivity to system uncertainties. The effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm has been verified through simulation using MATLAB/SIMULINK software.","PeriodicalId":253361,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 6th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130831783","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This system comprises an induction motor (IM) and three static converters, including a boost converter, a bidirectional (BDC) buck-boost converter and a voltage source inverter (VSI). A maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller based on a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) is designed to generate a variable step size reference current. Moreover, a sliding surface based on the current state variable is designed to force the boost inductor current to follow the reference current previously provided by the MPPT. The working principle of the bidirectional buck-boost converter is examined. Furthermore, two closed-loop proportional-integral (PI) controllers are designed for the power flow management between the DC-bus and the battery. Finally, the control scheme based on input-output linearization (IOL) is employed to control the induction motor. In order to assess the performances of the controlled three-stage hybrid water pumping system, a simulation is carried out using MATLABISimulink software, and the performances of the system are evaluated under sudden irradiance and speed changes.","PeriodicalId":253361,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 6th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117068901","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
