Results released by these examination bodies have been poor over a period of time.\u0000Purpose: The purpose of the study is to examine the influence of community violence and psychosocial problems on the academic performance of senior secondary school students in Kano metropolis.\u0000Methodology: A survey research design was adopted for this study. A sample of 363 senior secondary school students from 10 Government senior secondary schools in Kano metropolis were selected. Data were obtained using three research instruments (ESACOV, UCLA Reaction Index and MEATS) with reliability co-efficient of 0.74, 0.72 respectively. Analysis of data was by the use of percentages, frequency counts to answer the research questions as t-test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used to test the hypotheses.\u0000Results: Results obtained showed that students exposed to community violence manifest some psychosocial problems which include depression, feeling of insecurity, loss of memory etc. The post-traumatic stress disorder exhibited by students exposed to community violence include displacement, bereavement, separation, involvement in hostilities among other males and female students exposed to community violence were found to differ in academic performance.\u0000Recommendations: It was recommended among other things that extra efforts need to be made by teachers to help students exposed to community violence to improve on their academic performance. Despite its benefits, inquiry based method has not got due popularity in the Pakistani context.\u0000Purpose: The objectives of the study were to examine the effects of Inquiry Based Method on the academic achievement of students Biology at secondary level, to compare the academic achievement of low-achievers of Biology at secondary level taught through inquiry Based Method and Lecture Method, and to compare the academic achievement of high-achievers of Biology of secondary level taught through Inquiry Based Method and Lecture Method.\u0000Methodology: Two null hypotheses were formulated in order to achieve the objectives. One hundred twenty (120) science students of grade 10th (2017-2018) from GGHS No. 2 Haripur were considered as population. Sixty (60) Science students of grade 10th from GGHS No. 2 Haripur were selected as sample of the study. These students were divided into two equivalent groups i.e. control (n=30) and experimental group (n=30) on the basis of mean scores of pre & post- test on Biology. Experimental group was taught through Inquiry Based Method and control group was taught by Traditional Lecture Method for eight weeks.\u0000Results: The analyzed data revealed that experimental group significantly performed better than the control group. Similarly, the lower achievers of experimental group showed significantly better performance than lower achievers of the control group.\u0000Recommendations: It was recommended that teachers who are teaching Biology at secondary school level may be trained to teach Biology by applying Inquiry group learning method.

Students’ academic achievement is greatly determined by the decisions made by the school governance. The leadership style used by leaders influences the decision making process, communication process and implementation of decisions made.\u0000Purpose: The study sought to find out the extent to which task-oriented leadership style used by school heads in public secondary schools in Nyeri Central Sub-County affects students’ academic achievement.\u0000Methodology: The study used descriptive research design to obtain accurate information concerning the current existing phenomena. The sample consisted 590 statistically sampled using Krejcie’s and Morgan’s table of sampling. Data was collected using structured questionnaires and interview schedules. After pilot study, the researcher checked validity and reliability of the tools. The reliability value of the tool was 0.8. To enhance consistency of the tool, test-retest reliability technique was used and yielded a coefficient of 0.76. Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient was used to determine the relationship between task-oriented leadership style and students’ academic achievement.\u0000Results: The study found that principals who practiced task-oriented leadership style posted high mean mark in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE). The study also revealed that majority of principals practiced relationship-oriented leadership style hence, it was the most prevalent leadership style in Nyeri Central Sub-County. The sample consisted of 228 statistically sampled using the Yamen formula. A structured and open questionnaire measuring the attitude of teachers was used. To check validity, expert opinion was sought while reliability was ensured at 0.70 using Cronbach Alpha Coefficient. ANOVA and t-test method of analysis was the main statistical methods used to test the three hypotheses.\u0000Results: The study established that female teachers had a more positive attitude towards QASO compared to their male counter parts although the difference was not significant. Finally, the study found that teachers who were visited regularly had a positive attitude towards QASO compared to teachers who are not regularly visited or visited few times.
