The entrepreneurial team pioneered the revolutionization of the barter trade concept by developing a digital solution and platform branded as Kongsi (initially named Qu Exchange). Kongsi is a solution using digital trade points which act as a medium of exchange in replace of cash. This solution can solve cash flow problems faced by MSMEs with the creation of a non-cash alternative financing platform, combining and integrating the concept of barter trade and a point-based system. In this case study, the authors examined two critical success factors for digital entrepreneurship and innovation. This case study exemplifies a venture and entrepreneurial team capable of assembling strategic resources to create and sustain competitive advantages to survive and grow in a highly competitive FinTech environment.","PeriodicalId":248997,"journal":{"name":"Handbook of Research on Social Impacts of E-Payment and Blockchain Technology","volume":"228 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114380708","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data is obtained from three large-scale international surveys and national databases and analyzed using R software. The multivariate results demonstrate that individuals' public perceptions of trust and confidence significantly contribute to cryptocurrency adoption. Lower perceived trust in people and higher perceived confidence in civil service and international regulatory bodies increase cryptocurrency adoption, while perceived confidence in political and financial institutions discourages cryptocurrency adoption. Additionally, the univariate results find significant comparisons of gender and perceived trust differences on the predictors of cryptocurrency adoption. This chapter discusses and provides insights on the social impact and future of cryptocurrency adoption, particularly among the upper- and lower-middle-income countries.","PeriodicalId":248997,"journal":{"name":"Handbook of Research on Social Impacts of E-Payment and Blockchain Technology","volume":"106 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133917943","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study is supported by the theory of planned behavior (TPB) and stimulus-organism-response (SOR) framework. A total of 215 usable responses were obtained and analyzed using SPSS 25 and SmartPLS 3.2.6. The data is collected using a self-administered survey (Lancaster Qualtrics) and distributed randomly using the snowball sampling technique. The results indicate that the decomposition of SN has a significant relationship towards the intention of millennials to adopt e-wallets. This chapter also provides useful insights on what are the other factors that would build the intention of millennials towards the usage of e-wallets. Moreover, TPB along with the SOR framework supports the findings and provides better credibility to this study. This chapter concludes that brands should leverage more capital on media advertisements rather than peer referrals if they want to capture a larger market.","PeriodicalId":248997,"journal":{"name":"Handbook of Research on Social Impacts of E-Payment and Blockchain Technology","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128143667","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the lack of definitions and best practices in the literature on the applicability of blockchain in HR, there is a need to define the terms related to blockchain technology and its possible applications in HR. In addition, it is also important to address the downside and dark side of adopting blockchain in HR practices. This chapter aims to review the developing literature on blockchain technology, relate concepts to HR practices, present a model for applying blockchain technology in transforming HR practices, and explain the limitations and disadvantages of using blockchain technology in HR management. The chapter also contains two cases that illustrate the applicability issues of blockchain technology based upon the USA's credit score systems and Turkey's e-government application.","PeriodicalId":248997,"journal":{"name":"Handbook of Research on Social Impacts of E-Payment and Blockchain Technology","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133366331","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, challenges on user-related factors arise with this new avenue. This study aims to investigate the association of these factors on the adoption of e-payment services using machine learning inference. An artificial intelligence-based analysis pipeline is established to study the impact of individual items of the dependent factors on the usage of e-payment. In the analysis pipeline, the important items were extracted using a hybrid artificial intelligence method, and the relationships of these items were inferred using the tree algorithm. The results show that items related to expectancy, facilitating conditions, user attitude, and performance expectancy affect usage of e-payment services. Participants below 25 years old require a gamification solution to adopt e-payment, and participants above 40 years old need social support.","PeriodicalId":248997,"journal":{"name":"Handbook of Research on Social Impacts of E-Payment and Blockchain Technology","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128663061","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It can support transparency and guarantee eventual, system-wide consensus on the validity of an entire history of transactions. As Conte de Leon et al. defined, blockchains would cause disrupting transformations in all types of industries when used in supply chain management. Logistic companies should engage in blockchain technology to adapt rapidly to changing market conditions and needs in today's dynamic business environment. Thus, this chapter provides a comprehensive overview of blockchain technology and focuses on crucial supply chain capabilities to create such transparency, flexibility, and mutual trust between supply chain partners.","PeriodicalId":248997,"journal":{"name":"Handbook of Research on Social Impacts of E-Payment and Blockchain Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130754750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This chapter brings together thought leaders from both academia and industry to ensure a more holistic perspective on blockchain, both pros and cons. Primarily riding on the potential of the smart contract, this chapter expounds on the potential innovation that can be derived from blockchain. Simultaneously, this chapter expands on potential ideas that would bring value to mankind. It discusses how blockchain can be used to do social good and to rebuild trust between citizens, government, and more importantly, politicians. This could be achieved by rebuilding thrust through transparency and efficiency. While it is not without any drawback, suggested areas of future research were also proposed at the end of this chapter. This chapter also proposed a possible digital framework to be considered.","PeriodicalId":248997,"journal":{"name":"Handbook of Research on Social Impacts of E-Payment and Blockchain Technology","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114252815","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to their cost and ease of use, companies are reluctant to implement solutions focused on micropayments. To face this challenge and keep modernising the Brazilian financial sector and increase competition, Brazilian Central Bank has created PIX, a platform oriented to enable digital transfers 24/7 free for the user. The adoption of this platform has been a great success, especially among younger users, who popularise PIX with an unusual goal: flirting. Given that adaptive structuration theory (AST) states usages of technological artefacts diverse from the previously conceived, this chapter aims to discuss the adoption of micropayment platforms, remarking unplanned uses of the system by consumers. For this purpose, the authors analysed secondary data about the adoption of PIX and text mining focused on newspapers and magazine articles related to the use of PIX by the young.","PeriodicalId":248997,"journal":{"name":"Handbook of Research on Social Impacts of E-Payment and Blockchain Technology","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126817862","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
