The multi-objective optimization aims at minimizing the total cost of real power generation, line losses and CO2 emissions, and maximizing the benefits from the DG over a 20 years planning horizon. The method assesses the fault current constraint imposed on the distribution network by the existing and new DG in order not to violate the short circuit capacity of existing switchgear. In future active distribution network, it will be very important to detect bad data that deteriorate measurement accuracy to utilize the data and for appropriate maintenance. State estimation using the measured data of distribution feeders has been studied. However, the bad data detection method has been mainly discussed for transmission networks. A known method for detecting bad data based on the weighted least square method is tested for voltage distribution estimation of feeder assuming that customer demand profile can be approximated by the normal distribution. A software agent control architecture is introduced, which is divided into distinct subsystems in order to consider market roles of the Micro Smart Grid Operator, Car Sharing Operator and Distribution System Operator. In this power management strategy, each module in the system is in the distributed control and can be plugged and unplugged into the system without affecting the system performance. Data mining, based on pattern recognition algorithms can be of significant help for power system analysis, as high definition data is often complex to comprehend. In this paper three pattern recognition algorithms are applied to perform the data mining tasks. The deployment is carried out firstly for fault data classification, secondly for checking which faults are occurring more frequently and thirdly for identifying the root cause of a fault by clustering the parameters behind each scenario. To cope with the effects on grid voltage profiles during high generation and low demand periods, new solutions need to be established. In the long term, these solutions should also aim to allow further more PV installed capacity, while meeting the power quality requirements. In this paper, different concepts of energy storage are proposed to ensure the voltage quality requirements in a LV grid with high PV penetration. The proposed storage concepts can cooperate with reactive power methods and can be used to avoid grid reinforcement and active power curtailment. For the study, a residential LV grid with high share of PV generation is used. The controllable loads are classified into three types based on their natures and operating characteristics for an upper-level consumer's problem. To formulate the stochastic wind generators, a security-constrained optimal power flow (SCOPF) model is proposed for a lower-level utility's problem to consider various wind power scenarios. We then convert the bi-level model into a single-level of mathematical program with equilibrium constraints' (MPECs) problem to obtain the optimal load scheduling results. Most of these emerging approaches exploit the capabilities of wide-area technologies (wide area monitoring, protection and control - WAMPAC). Since WAMPAC implementation requires distributed phasor measurements throughout the system, phasor measurement units (PMUs) have to be adequately located depending on the real-time application. This paper addresses the problem of PMU placement with the aim of achieving high observability of system dynamics that are associated to transient and other short-term phenomena, in order to perform reliable real-time dynamic vulnerability assessment. Thus, a hybrid approach to determine suitable PMU locations that allows ensuring observability of slow and fast dynamic phenomena is proposed. The proposal uses Monte Carlo-based simulations to iteratively evaluate the system fast dynamic coherency, as well as the bus oscillatory modal observability. The methodology is tested on the IEEE New England 39-bus test system.
