Considering this, the students could be affected as a consequence of the lack of a common base of knowledge and academic training for employability. In this regard, a line of research arises at Universidad Pablo de Olavide (Seville) that is developed at the Computational Intelligence Laboratory (LIC, by its acronym in Spanish) by a Research Group of EduInnovagogía (HUM-971) and that presents a comparative panorama of the evaluation indicators of two quality valuation instruments of the MOOC: EduTool and uMuMOOC. Once analyzed the strengths of both tools, this study proposes a design construct of the future instruments of improvement for quality evaluation, presented as a five vertex pyramid or pentadimensional representation. In the centre of gravity would be “the acknowledgement of training for employability”. In this way, as of this solid base, the evaluation tools would have to be configured in the following dimensions: learning design, communication-interaction, planning-management, levels of accessibility, and learning methodology. Our research was completed applying a quasi-experimental methodology. The population and the sample are two hospitals (Hospital A-Experimental Group and Hospital B-Control Group). For each hospital a sample of 20 nurses (Total 40) and 40 patients (Total 80) were included, for a general total of 120 participants. The design is quasi-experimental. The analysis was performed with SPSS-version 20 for descriptive and inferential statistics. The GE Nursing staff reflected optimal use of the NANDA NIC NOC and Norton Scale methodology for the prevention of PPU in a 24-hour period in patients admitted to the emergency room. The process of documentation of interventions for skin assessment; postural change, examination and skin hygiene and pressure relief device was evident. No development of pressure ulcers was reported in patients with EG. The GC protocol for Staging Ulcer Management integrates valuable information; however, the results show that it is not consistently used by nursing staff to document interventions with patients admitted to the emergency room. Above all, it is essential to strengthen the ethical and moral dimension of these educational actions. As a case study, this article has as its main objective to explore distribution plans school milk schemes through humane education and examines the sustainability of such schemes using, as a methodological basis, the guiding questions posed by the True Price lesson plan created by the Institute for Humane Education. The European Union invests 100 million euros annually into school milk subsidies and this paper will examine whose interests are protected and promoted through school milk schemes and what are the environmental, health, and animal protection issues involved in the dairy industry. This theoretical work aims to demonstrate how humane education can be used to tackle topics that normally go undiscussed in schools and how to cultivate critical thinking and how humane education has the potential to represent a new model of environmental education that takes a much-needed interdisciplinary approach that combines animal and environmental protection and social justice. Throughout this process, teacher training is also crucial. Among the conclusions obtained, it is possible to determine, among other actions, how teacher training is decisive for achieving these goals. For this reason, this new and necessary pedagogical approach should also be integrated into the university. Venous catheters are extensively used in the healthcare system, primarily in ICUs. Although its effectiveness has been proved, its use implies complications such as bacteremia associated to its insertion and maintenance, with associated morbidity and mortality rates. The objective of this investigation was to evaluate the effect of variability in the management of Central Venous Catheters (CVCs) by nursing professionals in intensive care units, as well as their adherence to CDC recommendations and the importance of nursing staff in this regard. Using the National Patient Safety Goals, hospital accrediting agencies require hospitals to keep their healthcare professionals, including students, properly educated with regard to the competencies and skills associated with their profession before beginning clinical practice. This way, they are better prepared to practice their profession and will be able to reduce the risk of complications in patients. It is up to educators to keep their students up to date with regard to the development of practices based on new scientific evidence, particularly concerning the use of devices, in this case CVCs, so that these professionals are better prepared for the work field upon completion of their degree.. This paper illustrates the case of the Community of Madrid Quality Agency, as a case-study analysis through my experience as a panel member for the accreditation of higher-education qualifications. Methodologically, it is based on an autoethnographic approach and uses the theory of symbolic interactionism to reveal and analyse the evaluative process and culture. For this purpose, two analytical axes were drawn: student learning-outcomes and the value of the human resources assigned to the degree in terms of their academic research, both criteria which the quality agencies consider to be critical for a favourable final report. The interactions of the expert panel at the different stages of the accreditation consideration-process, based on these two criteria, are presented with the aim that future case studies will test them in the context of collaborative learning, helping to achieve the greatest possible academic rigor in the accreditation process. María","doi":"10.18562/IJEE.025","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.18562/IJEE.025","url":null,"abstract":"In Puerto Rico, a country with a large elderly population, it is imperative for healthcare professionals and students in nursing and related health fields to be duly trained with the necessary skills and competencies to deal with this growing population. Rethinking of care plans, responsibilities, models and interventions must be reinforced to accomplish healthcare needs of the geriatric sector. This is an ineludible challenge in elderly caregiving. This quantitative study with a transversal, descriptive design was carried out with elderly patients of osteoarthritis located in the Metropolitan area of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Its objective was to identify the possible relationship between osteoarthritis and the quality of life of this population. The representative sample consisted of 380 elderly patients, 36.6% male and 61.3% female. Eight participants did not specify their gender (2.1%). A relationship was found between osteoarthritis and quality of life. Namely, this condition was found to have a negative impact in the quality of life of elderly patients. Poverty and lack of treatment options are aspects to consider, whereas the most affected areas are the hands and knees, impairing mobility and patients’ ability to carry out activities of their daily living. This affects both their independence and daily coexistence, with a greater impact on women. This aspect of gender should be further scrutinized in future investigations. Aging population, particularly those with a chronic disease such as osteoarthritis, impose more and new challenges in the formation of health care students and the professional practice in general.
