Methods: this is a cross-sectional, analytical, and exploratory study of 390 puerperal women from two public maternity hospitals. Sociodemographic characteristics, obstetric history, and variables relating to labor, delivery, and postpartum were analyzed. Statistical differences were assessed using the chi-square test or Fisher's exact test. The prevalence ratio was calculated using Poisson regression with robust variance. Results: the prevalence of breastfeeding in the first hour of life in the delivery room was only 29.2% (95% Confidence Interval: 24.68-33.71) and was associated with noise, the clamping of the umbilical cord, skin-to-skin contact, and the time taken to bathe the newborn for the first time. Conclusion: the predisposing factors for breastfeeding in the first hour of life were associated with care measures adopted during labor and birth, calling for strategies to improve care. Contribution to practice: the results can provide guidance for structural and educational changes, with a view to improving the care offered to the population during labor and birth.","PeriodicalId":243005,"journal":{"name":"Northeast Network Nursing Journal","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135734203","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: qualitative research, based on the theoretical framework of Grounded Theory. We interviewed 28 participants in three sample groups, using a theoretical sampling and data circularity to analyze initial, focused, and theoretical codings. Results: the phenomenon \"Experiencing the process of rehabilitation\" was formed by 66 conceptual codes. Its conditions were the categories: “Coping with the new condition”, “Experiencing the challenge of rehabilitation”. Action-interaction: “Finding motivation for rehabilitation”; consequence: “Adapting to the condition”. Conclusion: the theoretical model highlights the need to cope with the disability, leading the individual to learn how to deal with challenges and to recognize the gradual and challenging nature of rehabilitation. Contributions to practice: the theoretical model is innovative for explaining the rehabilitation process in people with disabilities, highlighting the importance of facing the new condition, finding motivation, and adapting. The crucial role of the health team also stands out, as do the relevance of getting in touch with others who have been through the same process. The application of this model is expected to increase rehabilitation efficiency, culminating in higher quality of life for patients.","PeriodicalId":243005,"journal":{"name":"Northeast Network Nursing Journal","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135604775","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: this is a scoping review. Searches were carried out in the following databases: US National Library of Medicine - National Institutes of Health; Scientific Electronic Library Online; Institute for Scientific Information; Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature; and SciVerse Scopus. Results: 15 articles were selected that showed the influence of socioeconomic factors on infant mortality from Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2. Conclusion: it was shown that socioeconomic factors are related to increased mortality from COVID-19 in the infant population, low income and residence in locations considered to be of greater socioeconomic vulnerability, which were presented as important variables to be considered in the COVID-19 pandemic. Contributions to practice: several factors are related to increased susceptibility to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus infection and worsening of the disease in children. However, understanding that socioeconomic factors can be a determinant of COVID-19 incidence and mortality in children highlights the need to invest in actions aimed at reducing socioeconomic inequalities, to reduce preventable deaths.","PeriodicalId":243005,"journal":{"name":"Northeast Network Nursing Journal","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134882364","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
