Recent EU policies on the Landfilling of Waste (Council Directive 1999/31/EC) have however put a ban on the landfilling of whole or shredded tyres, creating an imminent need to investigate any possible viable uses of this waste product. An emerging use is the production of concrete, in which tyre rubber particles partially replace natural aggregates. This has the additional advantage of saving in natural aggregates used in the production of concrete which are becoming increasingly scarce. This research investigated a wide range of physical and mechanical properties of concrete containing recycled tyre aggregates, to assess its suitability as a construction material. [1]The influence of factors such as rubber aggregate content and size, as well as curing time was also considered. The results showed that despite a great loss in strength, this type of concrete was acceptable for various applications requiring medium to low compressive strength. The quantities of concrete produced worldwide for such applications could ensure the viability of this product. Therefore, this type of concrete shows promise for becoming an additional sustainable solution for tyre rubber waste management.","PeriodicalId":242568,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Current Trends in Engineering and Technology (ICCTET)","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123457440","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The three different colour channels such as R, G, and B of the input color image are separated initially. The proposed technique decomposes the different colour channels into the four frequency sub-bands by using Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT). Histogram Equalization is applied to the low frequency sub-band only. Finally, the inverse wavelet transform is applied to reconstruct the enhanced image. Mean is the parameter which is used to measure the performance of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":242568,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Current Trends in Engineering and Technology (ICCTET)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132934973","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the productivity of glass products are increasing day by day, it is very difficult to manage the products quality by means of Human Inspection. Because the identification of different defects by means of naked eye is not possible. Thereby grading of glasses via machine technology has been gaining much importance. Indulge of machine vision technology not only improves the productivity, but also saves time. Even though Images can be captured from different spectrums, Only few are used for defect detection systems. The Image processing steps used for machine vision technology are Image acquisition, Image pre-processing, Image segmentation, Image feature extraction and defect classification. External surface defects are mainly captured through colour/Monochrome cameras while the internal defects are captured through devices like Infrared cameras-ray Imaging etc. Improved results are then used for Quality Inspection applications.","PeriodicalId":242568,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Current Trends in Engineering and Technology (ICCTET)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125283225","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is achieved with the help of GPS and embedded system. GPS (Global Positioning System) is increasingly being used for a wide range of applications. It provides reliable positioning, navigation, and timing services to worldwide users on a continuous basis in all weather, day and night, anywhere on or near the earth. This paper deals on the versatility and the usefulness of a GPS device in the sea. The main objective of the paper is to help the fishermen not to navigate beyond other country's border. If a fisherman navigates beyond the country's border, an alarm is generated indicating that the fisherman has crossed the border. Additionally, a GSM transmitter interface will send a message to base station located on the sea shore indicating that a boat has crossed the border. Thus guards in the shore can assist and provide additional help to those fishermen if needed. Keeping in mind about lives of Indian fishermen, this device has been created to help them not to move beyond the border. On the whole, it is an attempt to build a suitable device for the fishermen at a reasonably low cost.","PeriodicalId":242568,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Current Trends in Engineering and Technology (ICCTET)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121042807","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposes the optimal location of TCSC controllers in the power transmission system to eliminate or alleviate line overloads in the system based on practical power system operation criterion. The concept of line flow overload sensitivity index (LFOSI) of the system lines with reference to real time generation mix strategies based on conventional and nonconventional generation, seasonal load pattern, peak and off-peak conditions, adhering grid discipline, permitting power transactions, future projected demand, network modification and capacity addition have been developed. The proposed concept of FACTS placement using LFOSI based on practical operation criterion and expansion planning approach has been extensively analyzed and implementation methodology is also developed to decide the optimal location of FACTS controllers so as to consider practical operation criterion and expansion planning systematically.","PeriodicalId":242568,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Current Trends in Engineering and Technology (ICCTET)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115395786","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most existing ad hoc routing protocols are susceptible to node mobility, especially for large-scale networks. Driven by this issue, we propose an efficient Position-based Opportunistic Routing (POR) protocol which takes advantage of the stateless property of geographic routing and the broadcast nature of wireless medium. When a data packet is sent out, some of the neighbor nodes that have overheard the transmission will serve as forwarding candidates, and take turn to forward the packet if it is not relayed by the specific best forwarder within a certain period of time. By utilizing such in-the-air backup, communication is maintained without being interrupted. Extremely opportunistic routing (ExOR) forwards data in a batch-operated fashion. A flow of data packets are divided into batches. All packets in the same batch carry the same forwarder list when they leave the source node.","PeriodicalId":242568,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Current Trends in Engineering and Technology (ICCTET)","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126061467","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In those researches, various data mining techniques are applied to predict stock price trends, index values, currency exchange rates, volatilities etc. However, most of the existing studies in this area are based on numeric and structured data for example, historical price quotes, financial statements, interest and tax rates or with other quantifiable figures. Studies on mining textual and unstructured information like news, recommendation and comments from experts, postings from online forums and chat rooms, personal blogs and so on seems to be only an emerging area of study. The available textual data on the internet is usually of huge quantity and is much more informative than purely numeric information. This information helps people to identify the market behavior from a piece of financial news but also understand the reason why the market behaves this way. The purpose of this thesis is to explore this emerging research area and to give comprehensive experiments and comparisons on applications of various textual data mining techniques on financial market predictions.","PeriodicalId":242568,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Current Trends in Engineering and Technology (ICCTET)","volume":"487 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123193109","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The simple framework is based on the ratio of the cost of making certain decisions such as reduction in distance count. Routing protocol is one of the major networks found in this application of wireless networks. The commonly used routing techniques in the network layers are described as follows. In [1]Distributed routing approach each node checks whether the cost of routing via a given neighbor is smaller than that of currently used nodes. In the `adhoc' networks, it has bandwidth limitation of the wireless channel. In dynamic ad hoc networks, a localized approach based on `on-demand route discovery' by flooding destination is used. But it is inefficient to use flooding as routing scheme in wireless networks since it has power and bandwidth limitation. Localized protocols describes the amount of information required (i.e.) it gives the average number of messages transmitted per node in a protocol. In a strictly localized protocol it is either local or global in nature. Thus the goal of the project describes the concept as a general framework of some existing protocols. The Proposed framework of the localized routing scheme is based on the cost measure, which depends on the assumptions for the minimal routing path to be selected and the progress measure depends on the advances towards the destination. Network simulator is used to implement this scenario.","PeriodicalId":242568,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Current Trends in Engineering and Technology (ICCTET)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134290289","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
