However, electrical power systems and their operation are among the most complex problems of engineering due to their highly nonlinear and computationally difficult environments. As a result, it is difficult in establishing an effective model and algorithm for the APED problem. In this paper, we present a new algorithm based on admittance matrix to solve APED, whose object function is to minimize the fuel cost of generation. The unit capacity limit, the power balance constraint and the active transmission power losses in the power system operation are all considered in this algorithm. We use limitation method to cope with the threshold-crossing problem, and adopt the equal loss of micro-incremental rate principle (ELMIRP) to distribute load. Numerical experiments are included to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.","PeriodicalId":240420,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114142003","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But these dynamic factors are very important in deregulated power system. This paper brings forward the dynamic multi-stage transmission network expansion planning to handle these dynamic factors. The dynamic multi-stage transmission network expansion planning model applies load reschedule according the velocity and acceleration of node load growth, externalizes the new connotation of transmission network proper leading development planning that is advance constructing some circuits due to load level and construction cost swift increase, and adopts chaos particle swarm optimization (CPSO) to solve the planning model. IEC61850 has become an approved international communication standard for substation automation system. In order to make WABP device conform to the developing of substation automation system, the information model of wide-area backup protection based on IEC61850 is proposed in the paper. According to a kind of WABP algorithm, a decentralized and distributed architecture of WABP multi- agent system is given, in which the negotiation between protection agents is peer-to-peer manner. The WABP agent residing in protection IED (Intelligent Electronic Device) is regarded as a special logical node. The collaboration relations and information flows between WABP agent and conventional logical nodes are analyzed. The functions of WABP IED can be divided to three layers: interface layer, advanced process layer and basic computing layer. The remote message transferring principle for WABP agent in different substations is studied. The negotiation messages, which include staged distance protection actions, synchronous current signals and the fault judgments for transmission line, are organized with GOOSE or SAV. HDP or TCP is adopted to transmit the messages among the substations according to the types of messages. The communication agent in communication manager machine is responsible for forwarding remote messages from/to WABP IED. The information model for WABP agent has been designed and validated in EPOCHS platform. The work may provide a reference for the developing of wide-area protection device.","PeriodicalId":240420,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116586622","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A novel solution strategy involving the corresponding model and approach to this problem is presented in this paper. The aim of the method is to maximize the total MWh load served over a restoration period whilst considering the corresponding constraints. The proposed model is first discretized as a series of knapsack problems with respect to each time step. The classic backtracking search method is employed to solve those knapsack problems. Moreover, the optimal generators start-up solution procedure is illustrated as well. The proposed method, to some extent, can make the trade off between the simulation precision and the computing efforts better. Case studies based on a modified 15-generator test system as benchmark are carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness and validity of the proposed model and method.","PeriodicalId":240420,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129728816","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the development of the electricity market, the precision of load forecasting is paid more attention to than ever before. The investigation on characteristics of load time series is beneficial. In this paper, by employing the ARCH type models, the asymmetric characteristics of load series are discussed and an investigation on the impact of news on volatility is represented. Several interesting results are documented. The utility of the ARCH-type models with different empirical conditional distributions in describing time-varying volatility are demonstrated and the reverse leverage effect is reaffirmed by the asymmetric parameters estimation. Owing to the news impact curve (NIC) analysis, the responses in volatility of time series to the sign and the magnitude of the idiosyncratic shocks are highlighted. All the results are mutually confirmed in spite of different model specifications. The empirical results also show the satisfying forecasting ability of the models in view of some standard summery statistics. The asymmetric GARCH models may be a valid and promising method for load time series analysis.","PeriodicalId":240420,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128557839","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a new method for islanding detection of WTs based on THD of asynchronous generator currents is proposed. The new features of the proposed method are its application for wind farms with a large number of wind turbines under noisy windy conditions and appropriate for asynchronous type of wind turbine generators. The proposed method monitors the generator currents and calculates their THD then base on an algorithm the status of the WTs will be detected. The proposed method has been evaluated under different conditions such as load changing, noisy windy conditions, induction motors starting and capacitors switching by using PSCAD/EMTDC software. Then the change of MMF caused by rotor inter-turn short circuit was examined, and the MMF after inter-turn short circuit happens as the superposition of the normal MMF before inter-turn short circuit happens and the MMF produced by short circuit turns with opposite excitation current. As the former is completely symmetrical, only the opposite MMF produced by short turns was analyzed, and harmonic components with various orders were gained by Fourier analysis. The electromotive force induced in stator windings was got considering the air-gap eccentricity, and the theoretical deduction illustrate that the eccentricity has no influence on the induced electromotive force of the stator windings. The three-phase symmetrical currents of the stator produced a new revolving magnetic motive force, and induced harmonics in rotor windings, whose characteristic spectrum differs from that in normal conditions. The theory was validated by experiments at last and the method that employs harmonics detection to diagnose the inter-turn short circuit malfunction of the steam turbine generator was established.","PeriodicalId":240420,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126840876","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
