Abstract
With increasing fuel prices and developing of the power industry, the active power economic dispatch (APED) may become a more significant problem. However, electrical power systems and their operation are among the most complex problems of engineering due to their highly nonlinear and computationally difficult environments. As a result, it is difficult in establishing an effective model and algorithm for the APED problem. In this paper, we present a new algorithm based on admittance matrix to solve APED, whose object function is to minimize the fuel cost of generation. The unit capacity limit, the power balance constraint and the active transmission power losses in the power system operation are all considered in this algorithm. We use limitation method to cope with the threshold-crossing problem, and adopt the equal loss of micro-incremental rate principle (ELMIRP) to distribute load. Numerical experiments are included to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
