The three types considered are 6/4, 12/8 and 8/6 types. In this paper, not only the design of these three types of SRM, but also their performances are compared for the application of automotive cooling fan. The design parameters are calculated and selected by some constraint equations to match the requirements of the application. Finite Element Analysis(FEA) is used to analyze the characteristics of the designed motors. The experiments are executed to test the inductance, torque, and efficiency of these three types of SRM. The performances of the proposed motors are analyzed and compared. 12/8 type SRM is selected for the fan application because of efficiency as well as vibration and noise.","PeriodicalId":240337,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125809035","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are reduced-order and full-order types in flux observers based on the flux estimation. Reduced-order flux observers have a simple structure and short calculation time. However, they have drawbacks which comes from noise and disturbance. Therefore, full-order flux observers are used in this paper. Conventional full-order flux observers are methods that use an estimated d- and q-axis currents in the flux estimation. Nevertheless, the gain that includes the speed information of the denominator has a problem of deteriorating performance since the magnitude of the gain value largely increases in the low speed range. To control the speed precisely at both low- and high-speed ranges, the proposed full-order flux observer uses the improved gain. The improved gain has a stable estimation performance in both low- and high-speed range. This paper verifies the excellence of the proposed algorithm by using the improved full-order flux observer that has stable estimation performance through the simulation.","PeriodicalId":240337,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124923989","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are several methods to detect electrical and mechanical faults in an asynchronous motor; fast Fourier transform, short-time Fourier transform, and wavelet transform are the most popular ones. A major deficiency that most of these solutions face is not being able to detect low energy faults, such as mechanical bearing faults. The new solution proposed in this paper focuses on detection and prediction of low energy faults applying discrete wavelet transform (DWT); the output signal is passed through high pass and low pass filters and coefficients are derived consequently. The method offered by the authors of this paper includes deriving frequency spectrum of each level of discretization. Especially in high decomposition levels, inner race bearing faults can be detected earlier by monitoring frequency spectrum of high levels in DWT.","PeriodicalId":240337,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"220 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121938482","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A network-based dynamic model of the offshore platform is presented first. Then, a network-based state feedback control scheme is developed. Based on a proposed Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, a delay-dependent stability criterion for the offshore platform system is derived, and a sufficient condition for the existence of the network-based controller is developed. It is found through simulation results that the oscillation amplitudes of the offshore steel jacket platform under the network-based feedback controller are smaller than the ones under the nonlinear controller, and the control force required by the former is much smaller than the one by the latter.","PeriodicalId":240337,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125052779","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The smart charger is needed to serve the control strategy of smart grid to ensure power grid stability. The bi-directional inverter is an important part of the smart charger. In this paper, a bi-directional inverter is integrated in switched reluctance motor(SRM) drive. A novel converter topology is proposed to include the motor driving, the battery charging and inverter of power grid. The integrated bi-directional inverter can reduce the volume, the weight, and is easily to carry within EV. Compare with conventional asymmetric converter, two freewheeling diodes are instead by two power switches, and a relay is inserted between two power switches. This topology can be rebuilt a bidirectional inverter to satisfy the battery charging and the inverter of power grid. The operational modes of three functions are introduced in detail. Some simulation results are done to verify the performance of proposed converters.","PeriodicalId":240337,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131266535","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both standards have progressed since the WirelessHART incarnation. WirelessHART has gone through a major release, added support for discrete devices, and lately turned attention to wireless control. While WirelessHART is still based on IEEE 802.15.4-2003, IEEE 802.15.4 has progress to the latest version of IEEE 802.15.4e, with lots of new features that used to be exclusively in WirelessHART. In this paper we study the relationship between these two international standards. We look at how WirelessHART influenced IEEE 802.15.4e, what impact the latest IEEE 802.15.4e has on wirelessHART, how people could benefit from both standards, and what the future holds for us.","PeriodicalId":240337,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125523107","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The diverse path set planning algorithm (DPSP) generates the probabilistic roadmap and extracts paths that connect a fixed start and a goal point from the roadmap. The roadmap is revised as the path is extracted. The path set is evaluated by the proposed path set fitness function with respect to the diversity and the lengths of the paths using the opposite Hausdorff distance metric. By replacing the least important path in the path set, the diversity of the path set is iteratively improved. Better performance enhancements are shown by simulations in the empty map and static obstacles map.","PeriodicalId":240337,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130376704","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is incorporated as a STBC communication method in the IEEE 802.16e (WiMAX) standard. However, its high decoding complexity has prevented its implementation in practical systems. Optimal and suboptimal decoders with reduced complexity have been proposed recently and the best ones achieve a worst-case complexity of O(N2) and O(N1S), where N is the underlying QAM constellation size. In this paper, the fast essentially ML decoder with complexity of O(N2) is implemented on a low-power highly parallel SIMD processor, the ClearSpeed CSX700. The SIMD architecture of the CSX700 achieves significant reduction in decoding latency. The implementation in this paper reveals the potential for realtime decoding of the GC with a power consumption that is less than 100 W. This CSX700 solution can find application in the software-defined radio (SDR) of a Mobile WiMAX base station (BS).","PeriodicalId":240337,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132014262","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These classification methods are artificial neural network (ANN), k-nearest neighbors (kNN), support vector machine (SVM), and random forest (RF). First, HSI-based color segmentation process is applied to obtain candidate regions. Using centroid-based feature, these regions will be classified into three shape classes, such as circle, rectangle and triangle. Hereafter, histograms of oriented gradient (HOG) features are extracted from each region that will be utilized in recognizing step. For comparison, well-known public databases will be used. The comparison based on the implementation result from those data with difference condition of intensity and angle of view.
