Consequently, the goal of this paper is to find out: (1) teachers’ attitudes on types of support gifted students receive in school in addition to extra classes; (2) parents’ attitudes on types of support gifted students receive in school in addition to extra classes; (3) parents’ views on acceleration and special programs for the gifted students. The research involved 104 teachers and 30 parents of gifted students from multiple elementary and middle schools situated in Niš and Knjaževac. The instrument used to collect teachers’ attitudes is a mixed questionnaire, whereas the gifted student parents’ opinions and attitudes have been collected through the leading structured interview. Thus, the quantity data processing is based on the descriptive statistics, while the quality data, given in the narrative form, has been processed through the thematic content analysis, with the coding of key ideas into groups (units) with a common meaning. The findings of this research have shown that besides extra classes, schools organize other activities as well in order to encourage and stimulate giftedness in students, and the most common forms of support to the gifted students are: participation in contests and competitions, being part of extra classes and project groups, participation in cultural and social events, and rewarding. This study has also found that parents support the acceleration and special programs for gifted students, with a slight concern about separating a child from his/her peers.","PeriodicalId":240124,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis, Series: Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125882377","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This incorporates various activities aimed at achieving this goal. In the public sector, especially in the state administration, local self-government, and public services (primarily educational institutions), there are legal solutions which are considerably harmonized with the practice and legal system of similar European countries. Such is the case with the professional training and development of employees in the state administration, local self-government and public services (especially educational institutions). The necessity for employees' continuing activities in these areas is noticed, not only in terms of professional training, but especially in terms of their own professional development. Employees themselves can deal with that, but it is also the obligation of the institutions in which they work. This is particularly important for public sector employees - in state administration, local self-government and public services. The paper provides a legal framework for professional training and development of employees in the state administration, local self-government and public services, especially in the institutions in the field of education, and suggests some ideas for the improvement of particular legal solutions.","PeriodicalId":240124,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis, Series: Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116073776","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During this process, children with different personality respond differently to certain situations, so it is absolutely clear that internal factors drive individuals to act. These internal factors are called motives. This paper is an attempt to discuss some of the important aspects of how motivation affects successful learning, and answer the following questions: why is motivation a key factor in the teaching process, how does the social environment affect motivation, does grading motivate learning, and how does reinforcement affect successful learning? Along with a review of relevant scientific papers which have studied motivation as a factor affecting the teaching and education process, we will discuss various aspects of motivation, the importance of teaching material as a motivational tool and social factors and their effect on students’ motivation to learn. It is very important to focus on students’ intrinsic motivation during the process of knowledge acquisition and successful learning. Intrinsic motivation does not act independently, it is combined with other factors which allow individuals to acquire knowledge, and teacher motivation can be an important ally in achieving this goal.","PeriodicalId":240124,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis, Series: Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129681321","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This, above all, means creating a well-trained and efficient administration. In order to achieve these principles, it is necessary to provide, among other things, permanent professional development of public sector employees for the duration of their work. Bearing in mind the lack of a systematic and purposeful approach in addressing this issue, practice leads us to find a new, comprehensive and sustainable system of professional development of employees in the public sector. Modern andragogical approaches in this field, which give the primacy to the so-called \"non-formal education\", as well as the established concept of \"new public management\", further stimulate the search for new approaches to permanent professional improvement of public sector employees, with optimal use of small budget funds allocated for this purpose.","PeriodicalId":240124,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis, Series: Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education","volume":"111 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116576562","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the academic and everyday discourse, this phenomenon is called media multitasking or divided attention phenomenon. In this paper a small scale explorative research conducted among students on their usage of media and multitasking habits was presented. The research sample is made of 123 examinees, mainly Communicology and journalism department students of the Faculty of Philosophy in Niš. The research was conducted by using the data collected through the questioner created for the purpose of this analysis. The questioner consisted of 6 statements, and the task for the participants was to select ones that describe their behavior connected to the media usage. One of the major findings is that the main motive for simultaneous use of media is the desire to find out and achieve the most in as little time as possible. Also, students are motivated by the very fact they own multiple medias as well as habit and boredom. Usage of more then one media at the same time is most present during the day, and media content that evokes it the most are commercials.","PeriodicalId":240124,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis, Series: Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122588155","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It also elaborates the fact that school itself undergoes numerous changes in order to adequately respond to the demands of modern society, some of with refer to developing tools that build students’ capacities for lifelong learning and education for sustainable development. The major changes are felt in the very base of its functioning, moving it from the traditional educational organization toward the learning organization, that adopts modern work models and bases process of learning on active involvement, knowledge transformation and partner relations between students and teachers. Such conceptual changes fully correspond to new educational needs of individuals longing to develop competences for lifelong learning. Consequently, the alignment of school changes with the necessity to prepare students for lifelong education and education for sustainable development makes the central idea of the text. Finally, changes in contemporary school, especially in the part of school learning, are found to support the development of the concept of lifelong learning and education for sustainable development.","PeriodicalId":240124,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis, Series: Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115161595","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Primarily, a frequency of using of dialectical forms of certain language features was determined, by calculating the frequency index (FI), and afterwards was established in which extent was the frequency conditioned by non-linguistic factors – age, gender, education level of both parents, place of living, attending of kindergarten / school. The sample consisted of 40 examinees, preschool and primary school children, of both genders, with different levels of education of parents and different places of living. Analyzed results have shown corruption of dialectical foundation of Prizren-South Morava dialect type in speech of young people from Vranje. All analyzed features have shown variability of form – alternately used in dialectical and standard-language form. First dialectical feature that underwent alteration was doubling of the pronoun object. Large consistency is shown by dialectical placing of accent as well as use of general case. The feature that is most difficult to change in children’s speech is a future tense će-structure. There is, although insignificant, influence of non-linguistic factors on the frequency of dialectical forms. Age is the only non-linguistic variable that does not have an impact to the way of speaking of children from Vranje – different age does not reduce the use of dialectical forms of analyzed language features. The largest influence on the speaking of the examinees has an education of parents, while gender the least.Conducted research provides an insight into speech and language of children, of their speaking habits, and shows which language characteristics are not difficult to be adopted and which are harder to be adopted, which can contribute to an improvement of Serbian language teaching course. Furthermore, it appears as a justified one and significant for further research in the field of urban dialectology. As a society in transition, Serbia is unfortunately not an exception, and in the last thirty years, based on objective statistical data, Serbia leads in the region regarding the rise of this social phenomenon. The subject of this research is to identify the possibilities and limits of the emergence, spreading and suppression of various manifestations of violence in schools, as well as to use the collective awareness of peer-to-peer relationships, that is, to ask students about their views on whether peer violence problem exists and what their active role in addressing it is. The goal of this research is not to identify wide-ranging effects of peer violence on society, but to promote the need to recognize peer violence as an important trigger for future social problems, and in that regard, invite schools to prepare programs to prevent violence in schools through teaching and extracurricular activities, where students would have subject positions. Based on the research results obtained, we can see that peer violence significantly affects school atmosphere and has an impact on the overall personality development of students who attend the final grade of the eight-year city school. It has been proven that a large number of surveyed students do not report violence because of fear, prejudice, conformism; however, students talk about it to their parents and teachers in private, seeking help and support. We conclude that students are not sufficiently empowered and encouraged to actively grow up in the school environment, which opens up new research questions on the ways, dynamics and readiness of the society to increase the number of preventative activities in schools.","PeriodicalId":240124,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis, Series: Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education","volume":"91 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133705820","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
