This paper presents the IDAP Robot, which is designed and fabricated by taking the first Malaysia robot games festival or Robofest 2002. Development of the IDAP Robot based on the contest regulation to place out the beach balls into the cylinder tubes. This paper focuses on strategies motion of the IDAP robot. The strategies that involve are; it can carry out eighteen beach balls in one time and it is able to place all the cylinder tubes in one track within 3 minutes. The structure design of the robot is divided into two parts namely hardware and software parts. The hardware part involves the design and development of the platform module, storage module, arm manipulator module, power supply module, permanent magnet DC motor, sensing system, control panel, circuit protection and programmable logic controller (PLC). The platform module is divided into three parts namely, Y-axis design, Z-axis design and /spl theta/-axis design.","PeriodicalId":239300,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. Wigner-Ville distribution (WVD) is a popular tool to obtain time-frequency representation of signal. Windowed Wigner-Ville distribution (WWVD) and smooth windowed Wigner-Ville distribution (SWWVD) are the improvement method to overcome the problem faced by WVD. Determination of parameter setting of WWVD and SWWVD eliminates the cross-terms and improve time-frequency representation. The accuracy of time-frequency representation of simulated heart sounds and murmurs are compared and determined based on the mainlobe width, peak-to-sidelobe average ratio and signal-to-interference ratio. It is found that the most accurate time-frequency representation can be obtained using the SWWVD.","PeriodicalId":239300,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. The software monitors the status of power supply of the personal computer through peripherals device such as uninterrupted power supply (UPS). When the power goes out, the UPS supplies the power to the PC for a limited period of time. Before the UPS reaches its limit it sends a signal to the PC through RS-232 serial port and the software detects the signal and executes for saving all the programs opened by user and give the PC auto-shutdown. An application programming interface (API) function is used in the Visual Basic program. The software developed in this project is capable of saving all the programs opened by the users and shutdown the PC safely when the power goes out. Gate oxide defects in MOS transistors can be considered as the layout and technology dependent failures for which logic fault models are not always available, requiring electrical models to simulate the defect characteristics. Previously the GOS have been modeled with split transistors technique using two minor transistors and lumped elements. However, it is problematic to study minimum size transistors affected by GOS failures using the existing unidirectional split model as the channel length is designed at minimum size in particular technology process. Telemetry is a science of automatically measuring or recording data from one or more instruments and transmitting them over a distance. The transmission of the data can be done over wires or radio waves but this experiment is implementing transmission of the data through the Internet. The system is consisting of local portion and remote portion. In the local portion, data are collected from external measuring devices (EMD) and interfaced to be stored into a local computer, which is connected to the Internet and functions as a server. In the remote portion, it consists of any remote computer that can access to the Internet and are able to access to the data from the local computer (the server) through the Internet. Hardware comprising a PIC microcontroller applied in interfacing circuits is developed to enable communication between the EMD and the local computer. Software programs are also developed for getting data and presenting Web pages to the user at both the local and remote computers. Miller, 2002). Thus far, SRMs are not established successfully in industry compared to brushless DC motors and induction motors. As per construction of the SRM, there shall not be any reasons as it is simple, ruggedness and winding-less rotor makes it easy for cooling process. However, the primary disadvantages of SRM being torque ripple and acoustic noise. Torque ripple stops SRM to secure place in industry. This problem has to be tackled by introducing appropriate control methods. Many efforts have been put on by researcher around the globe and it seems the problem remain unsolved. An emotional Malay and English voice database has been developed, consisting six basic emotions namely happiness, sadness, disgust, fear, anger and surprise. As the target is content independent emotion recognition, 4 short sentences that have the most natural meaning is adopted for the illustration and analysis. A study on speech prosody is done to identify the emotional features of voice. Variation on the sample's energy, duration, and pitch for different emotions is compared. Spectrogram analysis is done on some samples to observe the effect of formant. It is found that duration, average energy and pitch can provide some indication of emotional content of a speech, but it is not enough to correctly represent the emotions. Even though there are slightly different pattern for English and Malay samples, it is still reasonable to assume that there are standard acoustic configurations in expressing particular emotions.","PeriodicalId":239300,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. It provides the data acquisition, transfer and data processing capabilities among the energy meters, local area stations and the base. Technical advances in metering technology and the use of information technology result in enhanced efficiency, revenues, and better management and customer services. It also facilitates load forecasting and control, identifies potential areas of theft, losses and takes measures to rectify it. The communication link consists PSTN link, which is the usual telephone link, and TV cable link. Advantage of VEMS is that it facilitates real monitoring of the distribution network so that in future there is the possibility of implementing 'distribution automation'. As an added advantage, we can connect the water and gas meters to this system using the meter interface units (MIUs) to develop a remote unified billing system.","PeriodicalId":239300,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings.
