Quarantine guidelines called “social distancing” were implemented, and many changes occurred in people's daily lives. Hearing-impaired listeners, who communicated daily wearing hearing aids or cochlear implants, faced new obstacles, such as sudden changes in communication methods and wearing masks. This study attempted to discover their way of communication by conducting an in-depth interview with seven hearing-impaired people in their 20s and 40s who suffered from the COVID-19 pandemic. Results revealed that three main themes were emerged: 'communication experience,' 'COVID-19 pandemic and communication', and 'communication and the quality of life of the hearing-impaired people.' The 'communication experience' was divided into three communication methods: face-to-face, text, and video conversation(video call). 'COVID-19 Pandemic and communication' describes the communication experience of wearing masks and their right to live threatened in the COVID-19 pandemic. Finally, in 'Communication and Quality of Life of the hearing-impaired people,' we looked at their QoL experiences, whose communication difficulties were increased due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Wearing a mask increases communication difficulty physically and psychologically, putting their obstacles and limitations in a more difficult position.","PeriodicalId":239249,"journal":{"name":"Korean Society for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127523755","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To this purpose, a total of 167 programs were classified according to four criteria presented in the case report. This was reclassified into six areas of lifelong education programs for people with disabilities. The results were as follows as. First, the “social integration” program was initially dominated, and some “self-reliance and employment-linked programs” were operated. The “regional specialization program” that meets the purpose of the project for the region-centered lifelong learning city for people with disabilities did not appear in the beginning, but it was found that it gradually increased afterwards. Second, the operation status of programs in six areas were mostly focused on culture and arts education and humanities education for all three years. In conclusion, the lifelong learning city project for people with disabilities, which was launched to resolve blind spots in education for people with disabilities, was encouraging. On the other hand, it is necessary to improve the existing cultural arts education and humanities liberal arts education.","PeriodicalId":239249,"journal":{"name":"Korean Society for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126915532","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To this end, the author collected data about adults with physical disabilities from original data in the government-led “survey on current situation of people with disabilities” conducted in 2020 for research and went into secondary analysis. The key results are stated as follows. First, as adults with physical disabilities grow older, the rate of emergence witnessed a spike. It was surprising to see that old women showed the highest rate of physical disabilities, and that the number of people with disabilities with moderate disability grew steadily as they become older. The serious finding was that older people suffering from physical disabilities with under secondary-level educational background represented 53.4 percent and households whose average monthly income worth under 2 million won accounted for 68 percent. As such, they were at risk of educational level and economic conditions. Second, 40.5 percent of young adults, 37.2 percent of middle-aged adults, and 47.3 percent of old adults generally said that there are not many convenient facilities for people with disabilities and they feel difficulty in doing outdoor activities due to absence of helpers. Another notable finding was that young adults with physical disabilities were discontent with culture and leisure activities. Third, 83.8 percent of adults with physical disabilities mentioned that there exists no lifelong-learning programs to join. They demanded a priority in strengthening making public programs on the need for support with an aim to encourage their participation in lifelong-learning programs, while calling for support measures to guarantee their income from communities and the government.","PeriodicalId":239249,"journal":{"name":"Korean Society for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126630409","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The final selected articles were analyzed for the variables of driving ability measurement and its method. A total of 656 articles were identified, and four articles were included in the review. The measurements for the driving ability were 8, 6, and 5 factors based on a self-report, clinical test, and driving simulator, respectively. Drivers with traumatic brain injuries(TBI) tended to overestimate their driving abilities compared to stroke drivers and general population, and their actual frequency of traffic accidents was higher than stroke and TBI drivers. In addition, the studies that used a combination of various measurement methods appropriately evaluated the driving abilities. This study suggests various factors that can be used to evaluate driving abilities in clients with brain injuries, and present evaluation tools that can be used for each variable. These findings can serve as preliminary data for driving ability measurement and rehabilitation for individuals with brain injuries.","PeriodicalId":239249,"journal":{"name":"Korean Society for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117072631","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
