Two unique features make the device very attractive for metrology applications: (i) The generation of output voltage is based on the fundamentally accurate Josephson frequency-to-voltage relationship. (ii) The device does not require any external signals with frequencies higher than 100 MHz. It is expected that the DAC will be used as a key component of novel standards and calibrators of ac voltage with frequency up to 1 MHz. The implemented prototype has low magnitude of output voltage (about 10 mV) which is far lower than the 1 to 10 V target magnitude.","PeriodicalId":239228,"journal":{"name":"1998 Conference on Precision Electromagnetic Measurements Digest (Cat. The system consists of a two-stage binary inductive voltage divider, an amplifier-aided two-stage current transformer, a precision shunt, a wideband buffer, and a commercial, sampling digital multimeter (DMM). When comparing current transducers with ac output voltage ratios of 1:1 to 50:1, the system attains an overall relative standard uncertainty of the ratio of 10/sup -5/ to 10/sup -4/, respectively. The basic system can be used to calibrate transducers with input currents of 0.1 A to 200 A (RMS) and can be extended to measure devices handling input currents up to 15 kA.","PeriodicalId":239228,"journal":{"name":"1998 Conference on Precision Electromagnetic Measurements Digest (Cat. The contact resistance error of the switch had been one of the most significant error sources in the conventional Hamon divider. A specially designed cryogenic switch made of Pb was used at liquid helium temperature for a series-parallel connection of the Hamon resistors which form the upper arm of a Wheatstone bridge for a self calibration.
