The wind turbine production industry is one of the sectors that uses these products widely. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of contact allergy to epoxy resin and its components among wind turbine blades production workers with suspected contact dermatitis. \u0000Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis of the patch test results performed between 2012 and 2019 in wind turbine blades production workers with dermatitis and characterized their demographic and clinical data, patch test results and the occupational impact of allergic contact dermatitis on these workers. \u0000Results: Out of the 3049 patients patch tested in the period 2012-2019, we identified thirteen wind turbine blades production workers, predominantly male (69.2%). All of them handled glues, resins and/or paints in their daily work activities. Seven (53.8%) had a combination of hand dermatitis and airborne dermatitis, two (15.4%) had exclusively hand dermatitis and four (30.8%) had predominantly airborne dermatitis. All patients had positive patch test for epoxy resin and ten patients (76.9%) had also reaction for 1,6-hexanediol diglycidylether. Two patients (15.4%) also had a reaction to the already hardened resin powder. Four (30.8%) patients had to quit their jobs due to allergic contact dermatitis and three (23.1%) were transferred to another workstation without exposure to epoxy resin. Avoidance of exposure resulted in a significant improvement. \u0000Conclusion: With this study, we confirmed that epoxy resin and its components are the main cause of dermatitis among wind turbine blades production workers, that eczema occurs by direct contact and by airborne exposure.

It is considered a cosmetic disease but it is accompanied by extensive psychological effects. Multiple treatments have been tried until now but no single method has achieved the desired response. Tacrolimus is frequently used for vitiligo treatment with few adverse effects. Microneedling is a newer modality of therapeutic wounding that augments drug absorption. Combination of microneedling and tacrolimus have been tried to improve the repigmentation response in vitiligo. Our objective was to assess the safety and efficacy of this combined modality. \u0000Methods: Forty patients were subjected to combination of tacrolimus 0.1% ointment and microneedling at 2 week intervals for maximum 10 sessions with a follow-up period of 6 months. Assessment was based on grading of repigmentation and clinical improvement according to vitiligo noticeability scale. \u0000Results: Excellent repigmentation was observed in 30% cases. Improvement was significantly higher in lesions present on the head and neck. Mucosal vitiligo also showed good to excellent response. No severe side effects were reported. No complications or recurrences were observed during the follow-up period. \u0000Conclusion: Combination of microneedling and tacrolimus was found to be safe and efficacious in the treatment of stable vitiligo.

Health care services were mostly directed towards the emergency response and containment measures to halt virus spreading have been applied worldwide. It has also indirectly impacted the transmission of other infections, including sexually transmitted infections (STI). For STI, physical distancing measures have the potential to decrease STI transmission whereas the impact of COVID-19 on healthcare resources with interruption of STI diagnosis and treatment drives in the opposite direction. The question is how the counterbalancing impact of these forces will affect the course of STI epidemic. In this article we review the current available data on the COVID-19 impact on sexual behaviours, STI services interruption and reported STI rates, including local data.

Our aim was to study if isotretinoin is associated with depression in a sample of acne patients followed for 6 months comparing them with acne patients under other treatment modalities and control patients without acne. \u0000Methods: One hundred individuals were included: 50 controls and 50 with acne (24 using and 26 not using isotretinoin). Patients and controls answered the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and the 12 Item-Short Form Health Survey for quality of life (SF-12). Acne patients repeated this evaluation in 90 and 180 days. \u0000Results: No differences were found between controls and acne patients regarding BDI results but controls performed worse in the SF-12 mental domain (p=0.004). No differences were found within the acne group between those treated and not treated with isotretinoin in the comparison of the BDI and SF-12 (mental and physical domains) in days 0. 90 and 180 (all with p>0.05). \u0000Conclusion: In this small sample isotretinoin treatment showed to be safe regarding the occurrence of depression.

The morpheaform clinical variant is uncommon, presenting an aggressive growth pattern. Early diagnosis and new targeted therapies for metastatic disease are important to improve survival rates. We present the case of a 29-year-old patient with morpheaform basal cell carcinoma in the right genian region. Due to local recurrences, he underwent surgery and adjuvant radiotherapy. For extensive metastatic bone involvement, the patient started vismodegib and, later, pembrolizumab, and also performed palliative radiotherapy. Despite several lines of systemic therapy, the disease progressed, and the patient died after 8 years of follow-up. This case shows how crucial it is to identify risk factors for metastatic basal cell carcinoma and highlights the need to improve target therapies and tailor them to the patient’s biological profile.

In order to minimize this problem, regulatory measures limiting its use have been implemented. The impact of these regulations should be monitored over time. \u0000 Material and Methods: A retrospective study from 2009 to 2018 was carried out in the Department of Dermatology to assess the temporal trend of chromium sensitization evaluated by patch testing with potassium dichromate 0.5% pet, particularly considering age, sex and its relationship with occupational activity. \u0000Results: 3277 individuals were studied, 2369 females (72.29%) and 908 males (27.71%). Of those 621 (18.95%) fulfilled criteria for occupational contact dermatitis. Chromium allergy was found in 118 (3.60%) patients, 64 females (54.4%) and 54 males (45.76%). We found that male patients were significantly more frequent (45.76% vs 27.03%; p<0.001), as well as occupational dermatitis (31.35% vs 18.47%; p<0.001), hand dermatitis (53.54% vs 23.52%; p<0.001) and age above 40 years (70.34% vs 56.76%; p=0.003). \u0000Discussion/Conclusion: The results show a high prevalence (3.60%) of chromium positive patch tests. In our study, there has not been a significant decrease in sensitization to chromium over the years. Interestingly cases classically related to this allergy (cement in the building industry) are no longer the main cause of the problem. We found other sources such as leather as a main cause of allergic sensitization, suggesting a change of the panorama.

Generalized pustular psoriasis is an acute and severe clinical form of psoriasis presenting as pustular eruption with erythematous base. Differentiating both diseases is often challenging because of their clinical and histopathological similarities. A 62-year-old woman presented with pustular eruption and fever three days after taking propyphenazone. Laboratory findings revealed leukocytosis and neutrophilia. Histopathological findings revealed a subcorneal spongiform pustule filled with neutrophils and perivascular inflammatory cell infiltration with neutrophils in the dermis. She was initially treated with systemic steroids, however, the lesions showed insignificant improvement. Treatment was then shifted to methotrexate which resulted in a dramatic clinical improvement.
