In the 21st century, it has become a major security issue as large numbers of people flee their country for safety or better living conditions. Over time, Europe shoulders the majority of the responsibility for Middle East and African migration flows. The current Ukrainian conflict highlights the need for more concerted and common migration policies in the context of protecting human life, especially when several states bear the brunt of migration flows. Greece has faced the challenge of accepting and integrating large numbers of refugees since 2015. Greece has adopted different policy measures and approaches to address the migration crisis in recent years, but the level of refugees' needs and lack of financial resources hinder their effectiveness. Greek response to migrants' integration is significant but partial. The health sector and refugees' access to health care have long been dysfunctional, while education initiatives have been more successful. Greek governments have been criticized for how they handled migration flows, but attention must also be paid to how the EU reacted to the crisis and how well values like solidarity and collectivity were preserved.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115172867","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, the study sought to access the effect of irrigation scheme development on; Education and Training, Clean Water and Sanitation, Youth Access to Funds, Housing Type, Food Security, Job Diversity, Access to Health Care Services, Changing Demand, Irrigation Orientation and Water Harvest. Descriptive design was used as a road map of the study. A sample size of 395 respondents was drawn from a target population of 35,041 households living around the irrigation scheme in Mara Region, Tharaka-Nithi County-Kenya, subjected to a 95% confidence level. Convenience sampling was adopted to drum up participants. Primary data was collected using interview method. A semi-structured interview guide with Likert scale rating was used as a checklist. Descriptive and inferential statistics were employed to analyze the data. Study results indicated that Development of Irrigation Schemes contributed to capacity building and empowerment of Kenyan communities by; facilitating access to clean water and sanitation within homesteads (77%) enabling sufficient food and balanced diet throughout the year (197; 56%). Statistically, the study showed that infrastructure was significantly associated with capacity building (ρ=0.03). In addition, the irrigation scheme improved the lifestyle of the locals through access to health care services and comfortable housing. From the income earned from farming, out of 395, only 105 (30%) and 47 (12%) could afford to educate their families to secondary and tertiary level respectively. According to the study, an acre of irrigated land employees an average of eight people on a full-time basis. The study highlighted challenges in water storage and maintenance which can be addressed by involving Kenyan government agencies, County government agencies, the private sector and other stakeholders in the development and provision of sufficient water storage facilities. From the results finding there is need for comprehensive research within the irrigation scheme through agricultural research and development to address the concerns of the future effects of chemical use on the health of the locals. The study recommends that local authorities renew the engagement of agricultural extension workers.  Additionally, to counter the bargaining power of middlemen, farmer welfare organizational structures should be operationalized.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134213313","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed, among other things, to analyze the anthropogenic pressure of local communities and indigenous populations (CLPA) in the production series as well as to suggest prospects for improving this phenomenon. Data collection and analysis favored a qualitative rather than a quantitative approach. It appears from this study that this phenomenon is due to the difficulty of access to agricultural land in the municipality of Pokola, the increased demand for agricultural products, the lack of land subdivision in the municipality of Pokola, etc. Despite knowing the limits of the community development series (62%) and given the demographic and spatial growth of the municipality of Pokola, some CLPAs are forced to carry out their activities in the production series, an area reserved for production. lumber. Illegal occupations concern food crops and cash crops which are the origin of forest clearing, camps and some dwellings. Better management of access to land in the community development series is necessary to mitigate this phenomenon.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124669144","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This type of research is a type of qualitative research with phenomenological methods. The data collection methods used are interviews and observations. The data collection technique used is the purposive sampling technique. Meanwhile, the data analysis techniques used consist of preparing data, reading the entire data, coding data, applying the results of data coding into themes to be analyzed, presenting themes in the form of narratives, and interpreting data. The results showed that the three subjects, namely az, GN, and RA subjects, experienced toxic relationships while in a courtship relationship. This is influenced by factors from within each of them when deciding to start a relationship. The toxic relationships they have experienced have caused a lot of harm to themselves both in terms of physical, mental, and academic. This makes the three subjects more careful if they want to get to know new people and assume that a toxic relationship can never be repaired.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116016102","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is occasionally linked to victims' hesitation to file a police report. In Gilgil Ward, property offenses are the most common kind of crime. Property crimes, however, make up a relatively tiny portion of reported offenses. Why victims don't report property crimes is a mystery. As a result, the study established the impact of the victim-offender relationship on property crime reporting to the police in Gilgil Ward. The research study's methodology was mixed-methods. The study's research instruments included questionnaires and interview schedules. The intended audience consisted of victims of property crimes who had reported their crimes to the police. For the research investigation, 96 people were the sample size. Respondents were chosen using stratified random selection, purposive sampling, and snowballing sampling. For quantitative data, descriptive analysis was used; for qualitative data, theme analysis was used. The study found that the type of property crime investigated was affected by the victim-offender relationship differently in terms of reporting property crimes. The majority of respondents reported being \"to a small extent\" impacted by the victim-offender relationship in robbery and theft offenses. Besides, the majority of the respondents claimed that the victim-offender relationship had no bearing on whether they reported a house-breaking or burglary. This study recommends educating Gilgil Ward inhabitants on the need of reporting property crimes to the police to foster successful policing.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133993392","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it is one thing to come up with a well-meaning policy and another and more importantly, to enforce unflinching compliance with the policy. It was the researchers’ observation that this safety policy did not enjoy unalloyed compliance and therefore, they considered it necessary to find out the whys of this noncompliance to put the school management and government at a vantage point to handle any eventual new waves of the pandemic. This study, therefore, sought to investigate the factors which militated against total compliance with COVID-19 pandemic safety measures in Nigerian schools and specifically the universities, from the perspectives of students of NAU, Awka. The present study adopted the descriptive survey design to examine the factors. The sample size was 786 (352 females and 434 males) ages16 – 20 years who were randomly selected through a multistage sampling technique. The researcher-developed questionnaire titled Students’ Responses to COVID-19 Safety Measures Questionnaire (RCSMQ) was used to obtain the data for the study during their first semester examinations. The instrument was duly validated by two experts from the departments of Educational Foundations and Education Management and Policy, NAU, Awka respectively.  The reliability of the instrument was determined using Cronbach alpha and an alpha coefficient of 0.82 was obtained which was high enough and therefore deemed reliable. Three research questions guided the study. They were answered using frequency and percentages and means. Results indicated that the interaction of factors such as school, lecturers and students-related hindered compliance of staff and students to the COVID-19 safety measures guiding the university. Factors found to have impeded compliance included a lack of enough lecture halls while the available ones were not spacious enough to allow for physical distancing, students’ delusion of the non-existence of the pandemic, and lack of interest from both lecturers and students, among others. The researchers concluded that there is a lot that lay on the hands of every stakeholder in the education system to keep our Nigerian schools safe from the menace of an eventual new wave of COVID-19 virus or outbreak of other tragic and challenging health problems that may occur in future, especially those that spread faster in overcrowded settings like school settings, and therefore, recommend that the government should increase budgetary allocation that can adequately fund university education needs while the school management should judiciously manage the funds to construct enough spacious lecture halls and provide ot","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"92 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127146088","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both positive (e.g., vaccine development) and negative (e.g., COVID-19 cases increase) news affect emotional states on an individual level, specifically for the student in higher education. They are struggling in challenging situations while adapting to online learning, which is not easy for them. This study aims to gain knowledge and gather empirical data on the COVID-19 news impact on young adult students in one of the public universities in West Java, Indonesia. We used an experimental approach in this study. Sixty participants were randomly assigned into control and experiment (i.e., being exposed to COVID-19 news) groups. Positive Affect Negative Affect Schedule was used to measure participants' emotional state before and after the experiment. This study shows that COVID-19 news significantly decreases participants’ positive affect when participants have personal experience with COVID-19. Therefore, information sharing regarding COVID-19 has to be done with caution to protect individual emotional states during the pandemic. The student also should restrict the abundant information relating to COVID-19 to maintain their positive emotional state.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"109 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122657235","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study has also examined the plight, predicaments, and abuses of childless women in African culture. The paper has revealed that childless women are verbally abused, physically beaten, psychologically abused, and maltreated. The paper argues that it is unethical and immoral to maltreat childless women for involuntary infertility. The pressures coming from society constitute huge struggles for childless women when they fail to bear children after a couple of times. The emotional turmoil is further compounded by societal pressure. Family members compel the husband to take another wife for the sake of ensuring a continued lineage. In some cultures, these women suffer domestic abuse, and divorce and are even driven out of their marital homes. The plight of childless women is unfathomable in most African societies with regard to how society maltreats these women because of their incapacity of bearing children. Furthermore, the study has revealed that the social pressures and their predicaments have nevertheless become an impetus for these childless women’s self-actualization and self-realization. Hard work and selfreliance become imperative for these childless women if they really yearn for social thriving.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125527815","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While there has been a lot of emphasis on the dissimilarity that allegedly exists between the two camps, there has not been much discussion on the similarities or common features that may exist between the two camps regarding the concept of personhood. Focusing on a selected number of scholars, this paper discusses the comparisons that have been made between the traditional African and Western thoughts on the concept of personhood with a view to exploring if any similarities or areas of convergence exist between the two. The paper concludes that in addition to the differences in thought between the two camps on the concept of personhood, there are also some similarities that are worth noting.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121838779","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
