This study aims to prove whether Self-control is the right predictor to explain Consumptive Behavior Control and if so, how much Self-control can explain Consumptive Behavior Control, especially in the case of Muslim millennials in spending their money on buying internet packages for social networking needs. This research was a quantitative study with ex-post facto design and also based on a survey of a group of students from an Islamic university in West Sumatra, Indonesia in 2022. Data were collected from 97 respondents and analyzed by using Simple Linear Regression. The findings have shown that Self-control is a good predictor for consumptive behavior control at a moderate level. Self-control can increase consumptive behavior control in students in purchasing internet services for social media. Self-control explains the achievement of Consumptive Behavior Control of 68.9%. This finding contributes to education observers who always focus on studies about consumptive behavior among young people and contribute to strengthen the theory of consumer behavior which is always growing rapidly throughout all the time.\u0000","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134304886","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The seventeenth century was also marked by the increasing seaborne trade in Southeast Asia, which was significantly more intense than before. Chinese merchants were one of the dominant traders within the region. As the result, the Chinese massive migration in the seventeenth century witnessed unprecedented occasions regarding many issues which encouraged the enthusiasm of the Chinese diaspora to Java in the seventeenth century. This chapter emerges from the observation that the current literature on migration motives are lacking. This study aims to enrich the literature about the motives and how they drove the Chinese to migrate. Few literatures that adequately appreciate transnational migration motivation to Southeast Asia, especially Java. The previous research tends to discuss the events, background, and consequences of Chinese migration to Java. This chapter addresses some points, namely (1) investigating the Chinese motives to migrate to Java in the 17th century; (2) formulating well-established analytical tools on how these Chinese migrants were perceived by the Dutch East Indies as well as by indigenous Javanese traders. Also how Chinese migrants portrayed themselves in Javanese society in the seventeenth century; (3) underscoring that the main factor of Chinese migration to Java relates to VOC policy which started with the establishment of the new city of Batavia in 1619. This chapter also tries to complete the reference and research about the Chinese migration phenomenon all over the world.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124601633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study explores and interrogates the reflections and successive considerations on landscape and entropy that the artist developed during the construction of Spiral Jetty, his most important work. The main topic is the critique and analysis of landscape through art. These experiences inaugurated a new and avant-garde approach: the aesthetics of the entropic, which leads to a form of socio-political debate that will be analyzed through artistic expression. The idea of an art that builds a new vision reflects the collective action toward reality, simultaneously expressing the landscape condition and the current entropic, instead of resolving it in the form of an object belonging to an armored dimension.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128498759","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In spite of this, and despite the fact that studies have continued to be carried out on the phenomenon to elicit its causes and effects on individuals and practicing communities, no study has attempted to develop a psychological theory of the practice based on the practice itself. Most of the theories that have informed studies on early marriage practices have either been mainstream psychological theories; only one Africentric theory so far, namely the social ontogenetic theory of development, has made a contribution to explaining the practice from an African point of view. The theory of cultural pedogamy is developed from findings from the study titled “Early girl-child marriage: An exploration of its psychosocial practices and effect in four cultural communities in Cameroon.” The communities sampled included the Mbororo-Fulani communities of Sabga and Ndawara, the Moghamo cultural community, the Nwe Mundani, and the Lower Mboh. This study utilized the sequential exploratory design and data were collected from four cultural communities using questionnaires, key informant interviews, and focused group discussions. Data collected from interviews were analyzed using the process of thematic analysis with the support of Atlas.ti version 5.2 software (Atlas Ti GMBH 2006). Findings from the study revealed that the practice of early marriage is deeply rooted in cultural beliefs, norms, values, perceptions and expectations as well as in socio-economic conditions and has psychosocial, socio-economic and educational limitations on the girl-child. Quantitative data revealed that of the 36 respondents in the sub-sample of child-wives and former child-wives, 44.4% were in forced early marriages; 52.8% were completely dependent on their husbands financially and materially; none of them was in a legally registered marriage; 88.6% did not know the legal age for marriage in Cameroon; 85.7% said their husbands did not treat them as equals; 63.3% reported that they lacked decision-making rights in their marital homes; 94.1% had attempted school but all of them were currently dropouts as none was schooling while in marriage; 74.2% had ended school before the age of 15 years; 85.6% of them were illiterate and all expressed the willingness to return to school if given the opportunity. Furthermore, a significant 94.1% of this sample perceived early marriage as a violation of the human rights of the girl-child and above 90.0% indicated that they lacked happiness and fulfillment in their marriages. The theory of cultural pedogamy argues that cultural pedogamy results largely from several endo-ethnic-cultural factors which include cognitive cultural factors (cultural belief systems, cultural norms and values, and culture-determined perceptions), and sociocultural factors (socio-cultural expectations, cultural practices","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129904713","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

From the time the nation-state emerged, the importance and definition of memory has been of utmost importance since it determined the very existence of the nation-state. In this study, the case of Spain is analyzed since it is a typical example of a country that based its existence as a unitary state on the development of a historiography that took the past of the entire Iberian Peninsula as a unified one. After presenting and analyzing the process of the creation of the Spanish collective identity from the 19th century, which was absolutely decisive for the creation of the Spanish national identity, the analysis continues in the more recent period. The way in which the Spanish regime managed historical memory is analyzed according to the objectives it pursued in each period of time, both after the victory of Franco and the implementation of his repressive regime, and after the end of the dictatorship and the advent of democracy in the country. It shows the different phases that Spanish society itself went through in difficult times, and how, through various sociopolitical upheavals, it managed to function smoothly in a climate of harmony, peace and democracy. Through this study, it also attempts to highlight the role of the historian, various other actors and ultimately the citizens of a nation state themselves in the formation of national identity. Furthermore, the aim of this study is to highlight Spain's attempt to balance between multiple and competing memories. Of particular interest is the fact that despite the organized effort made in Spain to silence the past, in recent years there has been an ongoing effort to recognize human rights violations and crimes committed during the Franco dictatorship. However, action to revive historical memory in Spain, despite coming from civil society, remains politically controversial. In this context, an analysis is presented on the management of memory and history in the case of Spain from the time of its emergence as a nation-state to the present day.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122955951","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This makes the difficulty in acting independently. Antony shows most persuasively that he is seeking a life secure in the arms of Cleopatra. In Freud’s narcissism, secure life is achieved through the process of self-regard. This is a pathology. However, I argue that Antony does not incorporate Cleopatra into himself but loses her to demand a possibility, a mood, or an orientation toward the world. His feeling is changed into a mood that copes with the problems caused by the libidinous involvement with the object in Freud. He changes his feeling into a countenance towards the world, rather than a pathology. This is what Walter Benjamin calls melancholy.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"144 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133276838","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sample of respondents was comprised of 60 drivers, 30 deaf and 30 hearing. Qualitative and quantitative analysis was used in data processing. Self-assessment was conducted by conducting a survey about their driving abilities and abilities of the other subsample of respondents. Differences in answers were determined with t-test. Results indicate that both subsamples assess their driving abilities as very good and their driving as safe. There are differences in the safety aspect of the driving, where hearing drivers expressed some doubt about this aspect when it comes to deaf drivers. By assessing frequency of communication during driving, it has been concluded that hearing drivers communicate more often and have more involvement in traffic accidents. When it comes to correlation between frequency of communication and number of committed traffic violations, no significant differences were observed between the two subsamples. Despite self-assessment of driving ability being very good and safe by both subsamples of respondents, traffic accidents are a very frequent occurrence. Although, conversation with passengers is not prohibited, drivers should be advised to reduce it to minimum, as it has proven to be one of the significant distracting factors when it comes to driving.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128332244","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Gamification is the incorporation of gaming elements into a learning environment in order to increase engagement and participation. It enhances learner’s participation, motivate actions, efficiently improve their academic performance as well as effectively facilitate language learning. Undoubtedly, participation is essential for an effective game-based language learning system. Language learning through games can take many forms, such as role-playing games to practice communication or board games to reinforce grammar. Furthermore, gamified learning software, for example, may boost student engagement, retention and academic performance. On the one hand, proponents of gamification claim that it improves learning. Gamification reinforces important educational skills like problem-solving, collaboration, and communication. Moreover, it is argued that the requirement for interaction in a gamified approach to education encourages students to participate actively in their education, resulting in increased student engagement in online forums, projects, and other learning activities. E-learning platforms seem to potentially enhance students’ motivation, and great efforts are needed to develop and implement an experience to make it completely motivating to participants. Gamification research is gaining traction and promises to aid in the resolution of many issues. Hence, this article could potentially offer ideas to educators to design technology-mediated learning environments. Based on a review of various prior works, this article explored the many reasons gamification should be incorporated into school curriculums for language learning, as well as the benefits for learners. It also critically focused on the application of gamification components to improve learning via online learning systems.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126947543","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
