While it is obvious that access to the target community is related to the prevailing socio-political context, there are even more constraints when data collection is carried out using an audiovisual tool. The aim in the present article is to share the field collaboration experience with informants in the locality of Blangoua. It shows how the audiovisual tool was an actual catalysis in this process, both for knowledge creation and for the discovery of certain latent realities among the youth of Blangoua. This paper endeavors also to highlight the visual anthropologist researcher’s ambivalent position in his/her specific involvement out in research field. Thus, starting from the principle of shared anthropology (Rouch, 1968) which would like the researcher in visual anthropology to consult his informants and show them everything that is constructed as a message from their culture, we manage to detect “truths” that emerge consciously or unconsciously from the behavior of individuals.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130715011","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In fact, realist scholars believe that in international relations, the ability of any given state to protect and advance its national interest is a function of its power position in the comity of nations. This paper seeks to examine the nexus between power and national interest in international relations. In doing so, it has adopted the qualitative analytical research methodology of content analysis. This is because, by its nature, the paper could not employ the quantitative analytical methodology. Therefore, content analysis of relevant literature is the preferred option. The research finding is that although power is a necessary component in analyzing relations between states in the international system, the concept is ambiguous and should not be relied upon as the major compass of a given nation’s foreign policy orientation.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122313646","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of this article is to analyze the impacts of this pandemic on social relations in Cameroon. Socio-historical approaches have been used to understand this phenomenon. Based on in-depth field surveys, this study shows that the methods used to raise public awareness of the harmful effects of this pandemic, in particular through communication (in the streets, in schools, at university, at the market, on television, etc.), the uproar around Covid-19 in Cameroon has not only raised awareness among the population; it also traumatized them, thus creating panic, shame, fear, all crowned with a deconstruction of the relationships between each other. Doomed to failure, the response against the “indisputable destroyer” has social consequences, among which figure prominently: stigmatization, abstention from screening tests for some, refusal to seek treatment for others, and the different representations of Covid-19 and also of people carrying the virus.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128096506","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the community of Pentalofos, the dance is being experienced and being revived by the same people, who actively participate both in the public dance of the community festival, and in revivals of customary circumstances on stage. Therefore, in this community, the coexistence of dance is observed in its primary environment and its transfer to the dance scene by the same people, who are both members of the community and members of the cultural club. In other words, the simultaneous \"first\" and \"second existence\" of dance is observed. The aim of this paper is to compare the traditional and the folkoric dance in Pentalofos of Evros, in order to determine whether they are identical or different, through the example of the dance ‘Babisios’. The collection of ethnographic data was based on the ethnographic method. Laban's notation system was used to record the choreographic compositions of Babisios dance, while for the analysis of their structure and form, as well as their codification, the structural-morphological and typological method of analysis was used, as it is applied in the Greek Τraditional Dance. From the data analysis was found that, although the traditional and fakelore form of Babisios dance is performed by the same people, who are both members of the community and members of the cultural association and often even happen to dance in the same place with both their qualities, show a number of differences. These differences reflect the dance expression of the same people in a specific context and at a given time. Thus, Babisios dance in its \"first\" existence includes a simple form, being an integral part of the life of the inhabitants of Pentalofos, while in its \"second\" existence the dance follows the rules of stage presentation, aiming to impress the audience, constituting a choreographic creation.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132893777","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Researchers have noted an increasing interest in the utility of “cultural well-being” for promulgating a common understanding of rights in conflict-ridden times. An important type of relevant project seen in the last three decades is the construction of human rights museums. As a public cultural institution, a “human rights museum” (HRM) is defined in this paper as one that engages in collecting and curatorial exhibition of artifacts with a threefold mission to educate/advocate for the mainstreaming of rights, memorialize past events of trauma, and engender a legal common sense. This definition is consistent with the International Council of Museums’ general definition, according to the ICOM Statutes (adopted in 2007). Added to this generality are two important dimensions pursuant to HRMs, namely their relation to cultural governance and to human rights sociolegal norms. In this paper, I introduce a “juris-cultural” theoretical approach and use it to chart a conceptual framework for discerning the social, cultural, and political role played by HRMs in their vision of social memorialization and cultural transformation.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"90 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134233518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its main objective is to challenge the ways communalism, casteism, and even the feminine issues are described as ideologies that seek to divide people from their society and their value systems. The theoretical tool used for it is the analytical approach to the critical theories of Horkheimer and Marcuse. Casteism and communalism have been the principal cause of social discrimination in Nepal. The chief finding of the study is that the so-called untouchable people of Nepal suffer from their livelihood problems and identity problems because of the majority’s indifference toward them. The significance of the research lies in the attempt to reconstruct the identity of Dalits, untouchables, and exploited women in relation to the constitutional provisions of inclusion in Nepal. It is believed that this paper stands as a reference to the scholars interested to research the topic further.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114795552","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Regardless of the increase, there has been a poor transition rate to post-secondary education and therefore making the majority return to their communities to join the informal sector to sustain their livelihood. This article presents the findings on the relevance of secondary education curriculum to youth’s livelihood in Tanzania. It addresses the issue of the application of secondary education knowledge to learners’ social-economic context. Qualitative data were collected in 10 densely populated wards in the Mvomero district to secondary education leavers, headteachers, and academic teachers. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions. Content analysis was used to analyze data. The findings revealed secondary education has the potential to improve individuals’ living standards and birth control. However, the study also showed that economic activities are still gender-specific, coupled with male-dominated traditions. In addition, the study revealed knowledge disjunction between the school and real-life settings. Moreover, the centralized curriculum widens the gap between school knowledge and real-life because it does not respond to the diversified geographical environment of Tanzania. Based on the findings the study recommends curriculum development process involve diverse groups of stakeholders to design contents that are reflective of the respective societal needs, integration of theory and practice in teaching and learning, and integration of both general and skill-based education.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125472100","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
