Among the challenges universities are called upon to face is providing students with the necessary employability skills for their future professional careers. This research aims to investigate the perceptions of students at the University of the Aegean and the University of Patras on the employability skills considered necessary in the future labor market. The research was conducted using a questionnaire answered by 392 students from various faculties of the University of the Aegean and the University of Patras. The results show that participants consider hard skills more important (such as Equipment Selection and troubleshooting) than programming and mathematics. They also consider soft skills (such as active listening and critical thinking) to be more important than negotiation, social perceptiveness, and coordination. In terms of their degree and the skills it offers, the majority consider that they have chosen it for a professional career and that it provides them with the necessary skills for the labor market. However, for the next 10–15 years, they do not consider that their degree will be sufficient regarding the skills requirements for their employability.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"102 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140251883","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study is conducted to determine symptoms of excessive use of smartphones on university students’ sound health. Among 350 students of Accounting and Information Systems (AIS), 289 voluntarily responded to answer the close-ended questionnaire with a five-point Likert Scale. To test and analyze the collected data, Cronbach’s Alpha, mean, standard deviation, coefficient of variation, correlation analysis, factor analysis, and regression analysis are applied with the help of SPSS v25. The eye problem, physically uncomfortable, decreased academic performance, headaches, frustration, abstaining from indoor/outdoor games, physical exercise, and woes in family bonding have a significant correlation with the health conditions of the students and a significant impact on the dependent variable indicating abstaining from gaming, headache, and frustration are liable for overall uneasy feelings. Proper authorities should formulate effective policies to engage the students in different types of indoor and outdoor games, extra-curricular activities like debating, cultural programs (such as singing, playing, and dancing), quiz competitions, science fairs, and job fairs for improving mental health as well as physical activities.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"256 20","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139011393","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Gender conflict is one of the obstacles that countries face when executing national and international development programs. Indonesia is one of the countries that uses a gender mainstreaming technique to incorporate gender problems into development initiatives. The establishment of a gender mainstreaming strategy (PUG) is vital in developing policies, particularly in carrying out bilateral development cooperation. This is significant for Indonesia as an endeavor to decrease inequality in the country, but Indonesia’s weak PUG is one of the country’s impediments to fulfilling national interests. One of the strategies undertaken by Indonesia to integrate gender mainstreaming into international development is through the Triangular South-South Cooperation Forum in order to form a strategic partnership with Afghanistan and Germany. Afghanistan is seen as a potential bilateral partner with aligned interests in promoting women’s empowerment and gender equality. Given that it is not only Indonesia that has national interests, the second-party countries must also have interests and conditions that are not always mutually agreed upon and might be detrimental to Indonesia. Therefore, the dynamics of bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Afghanistan are interesting to identify, considering that GIZ, as the German representative, is present as a mediator bridging the partnership. Thus, this study aims to explain the strategy for gender mainstreaming in Indonesia’s international development cooperation with bilateral partners, which is also equipped with an analysis of the constraints that affect the outcome of the cooperation.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"91 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138983721","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of 153 students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka Anambra State were conveniently recruited in this study. In this study, 51 were male, and 101 were female. The participants’ age ranged from 17 to 28 with a mean age of 20.47 and a standard deviation of 2. 59. Three instruments were used: Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support and Inventory of Callous-Unemotional Traits. Results of hierarchical regression revealed that model 1 which tested what social support contributed to the understanding of aggression was not significant, R2 =-0.022, F (2, 150) = 1.66 p>0.05. Model II revealed that when callous-unemotional traits were added in model II, the result did not show an increase in R2= = 0.001, F (3, 150) = 1.149, p= 0.0.5. School should organize a seminar to explain the aftermath of aggression to its undergraduates. This will help the undergraduates not to engage in aggressive behavior. It was recommended that more research be conducted on social support, callous-unemotional traits, and aggression among undergraduates. The Moroccan society is known for its diverse linguistic map which includes both national and foreign languages. For decades, and since colonization, the use of French as the country’s second language has developed to include different domains in society like administration, education, and media. English has remained a foreign language with limited functions. However, currently, the use of English is growing fast in different areas of society and Moroccans are shifting towards favoring English over French. This shift in language choice affects the social behavior besides the social identity of the community. This research seeks to reveal the reasons for this gradual change in language choice and attitudes in Morocco and elicit its social significance. Methodology-wise this research draws on a qualitative case study based on a questionnaire as the major tool for data collection. The findings reveal that the Moroccan high school students are aware of the importance of the English language at the international level and that is what steers their favorable shift towards English.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122751856","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through electronic questionnaires issued online, a total of 1,368 participants completed A Survey of Music Teachers’ Attitudes Toward World Music Teaching, which includes demographic information and twenty Likert-type items. The results showed that two independent variables of “gender” and “whether teachers had received training in world music after entry” did not influence Chinese music teachers’ attitudes and practices in world music teaching. Furthermore, it could be speculated that the teachers, especially those who were 20-34 years old with a master’s degree/Ph.D. and 1-10 years of teaching experience, as well as good at Western instruments, studied world music courses, graduated from a comprehensive university, and with teaching places located in the provincial capital cities, leaned more toward ethnomusicological and multicultural consciousness in world music teaching.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123518550","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although illicit brew consumption results in psychological, social, physical and health problems, available studies have mostly linked the consumption of illicit brew to criminality in western countries with little evidence from the developing countries especially Kenya. The study sought to investigate the influence of illicit brews on security in Rongai Sub-County, Nakuru County Kenya, an area that has experienced an exponential rise of crime cases. The study had three objectives; to establish public perceptions on the influence of illicit brews on crimes causation, establish the influence of illicit brews use on public violence, and to determine the factors that impinge security management measures against illicit brews on security and safety in Kampi ya Moto in Rongai Sub-County. The study utilized a mixed methods research design. The census and purposive sampling techniques were used to draw a sample of 99 community policing committee members and 15 key informants for interviews respectively. The data collection methods were questionnaire and key informant interviews. Descriptive statistics and thematic analysis were used to analyse quantitative and qualitative data respectively. Statistical Package for Social Sciences was used to generate data analysis tools. The study established that Illicit brew consumption is associated with stealing household wares, property, phones and other items to obtain money to buy the liquor. The study also revealed that the common type of public violence caused by illicit brew consumption is fights in the public due to metal impairment as a result of illicit brew consumption. Lastly, the study established that general lethargy and corruption are the main factors impinge security management measures against illicit brews in the study area. The study concludes that illicit brew consumption is associated with crime since it is behind the stealing incidents. The study also concludes that illicit brew consumption in the study area is associated with fights in the public space due to mental judgement impairment to the extent that they fail to understand themselves and are involved in activities that amount to public violence. Lastly, the study concludes that general lethargy and corruption are the factors that impinge security Management measures against illicit brews. The study recommends economic empowerment programs by the government and other stakeholders in development to minimise poverty that drives some households to engage in making and selling illicit brew. The government should come up with strict regulations for law enforcement officers involved in corruption and support of illicit brew making and sale to help reduce the cases of illicit brew in the study area.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132034716","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This in itself negatively affects their emotions and their compatibility in the future when they are freed from captivity, which consequently affects their psychological compatibility. From this viewpoint, the study aimed to identify the emotional deprivation and its relationship to psychological compatibility among Palestinian ex-detainees in the city of Jerusalem. The study population consisted of 3,613 freed prisoners in Jerusalem. The study sample comprised from 103 released prisoners who were chosen by the accessibility sampling method due to the difficulty of accessing the prisoners. The study used the descriptive correlative approach such that the following two tools were used: emotional deprivation and psychological compatibility, and the validity and reliability of the study tools were verified. The results showed that the level of emotional deprivation and psychological compatibility of the released prisoners in Jerusalem was moderate, with a mean of 2.59 and 3.42, respectively. There was an inverse relationship between emotional deprivation and psychological compatibility among the Palestinian ex-detainees in Jerusalem.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"258 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121179472","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In some cases, this can lead to the violent suppression of individuality, rejection, isolation, harassment, sexual assault and even honour killings. In Iran, sexual abuse by incest is a taboo topic with significant social stigma attached to it. Victims’ fears of punishment and rejection, combined with the lack of registration and reporting, means that there are no reliable statistics or evidence, but some studies show that it is prevalent in Iranian society. This study aims to investigate the causes and factors associated with the sexual abuse of children by family members. It uses semi-structured interviews with 452 people who experienced incest in childhood. The study confirms that child sexual abuse by family members is facilitated by favourable circumstances and makes abused people more vulnerable to their abusers. The study identified several factors that contribute to sexual abuse, including inequality, poverty, patriarchy, ineffective sex education, lack of community support and family dysfunction. These factors lead to subsets of social and individual consequences, such as weakened social relations, early or delayed marriage, interpersonal problems, divorce, dysfunction, negative feelings and a sense of being ‘other’. Efforts to address these underlying factors are necessary to prevent sexual abuse and improve the well-being of victims.","PeriodicalId":238752,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124038378","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
