It is based on current literature on hospital organization and management, open sources, personal experience and estimations of the author The hospital is defined and a classification is made based on structure and functionality. Vulnerabilities vary according to the profile of the hospital, and they can be internal (weaknesses) or external (threats). The internal vulnerabilities can be conceptual, structural and functional weaknesses. The external vulnerabilities can be general or specific threats. Every vulnerability is described in the context of various types of hospitals, and possible counter measures are suggested. Hospitals’ weaknesses emerge from their lack of flexibility and competitiveness and from their structural and functioning flaws. Most frequently, the threats menacing hospitals derive from epidemiological change and lack of resources, an unbalance between the demand for and the supply of care. To overcome their vulnerabilities they need to take specific actions and be supported by the Ministry of Health. The paper provides managers and policy-makers estimations regarding hospital vulnerabilities, suggesting also possible actions to reduce these vulnerabilities or their effects. Keywords: hospital vulnerabilities, weaknesses, threats.","PeriodicalId":237682,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Health Management and Tourism","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114226235","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study also identified major dangers in medical tourism and determined why cost, accessibility and quality are the main motivating factors for medical travel. Although lack of data is a major concern and the data available are mainly limited to literature from the perspective of a single country; and, data on medical travel outcomes are not sufficient or not generated using rigorous enough methods for statistical analysis. Therefore, this report documents primarily a range of treatments abroad that most commonly include dental care, cosmetic surgery, fertility treatment, elective surgery and other medical services.","PeriodicalId":237682,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Health Management and Tourism","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115402468","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Medical tourism development leads to the strengthening of human resources, organizations, and the individual/social capacities . Many researchers overviewed the issue of capacity development of medical tourism by various models; however, there is not the coexistence of capacity development and medical tourism components in their models. Hence, this research attempts to study the medical tourism and capacity development conceptual models to provide a novel model for capacity development of medical tourism. The research method is basically content analysis and the research type is fundamental. The data is collected from library research. Examination of models and main variables is done within the whole health system including tourist destination, organizations and institutions, and the tourists through consideration of different capacity levels and the socio-cultural, economic and political factors which form the sustainable development of destination. The results emphasize that the capacity development of medical tourism should consider the whole health system in the destination from institutional and tourist dimensions rising from the individual level up to the social level. Finally, our novel model is derived and introduced from deep consideration of all studied models.","PeriodicalId":237682,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Health Management and Tourism","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131624517","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sample included 396 managers who had participated in international trade shows. F uzzy logic was adopted using linguistic terms to evaluate the satisfaction and intentions of the exhibitors to construct the regression model. Variables relating to satisfaction with self-performance, the organizers, and visitors were found to have a positive effect on the behavioral intentions of the exhibitors. Using fuzzy logic, the discrete ordinal variable was transformed into a continuous variable and its semantic meaning was preserved.","PeriodicalId":237682,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Health Management and Tourism","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128256602","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Today, social networks have become a source of information for many people. On the other hand, health tourism, which means traveling to a different country for access to health services, is also increasing. Therefore, people need information in order to find solutions to their health problems. The aim of this study is to analyze the role of social networks in health tourism through Instagram. In order to access to the related shares to health tourism in Turkey “#healthtourismturkey” hashtag has been selected. All shares published with this hashtag in 2018 are included in the study. The total number of shares is 534. The results show that the share of health tourism in Instagram, which can be seen as a public relations and publicity tool, has increased in the second half -as of June/July- of 2018. The results also indicated that the most share in health tourism was made in the category of “medical tourism”, most of the share is about “dental health”, and the most share is made by “health tourism service providers-agencies” and “private clinics”.","PeriodicalId":237682,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Health Management and Tourism","volume":"23 Suppl 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131442060","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Turkish governments have offered several incentives such as reduced utility prices, funding alternatives for tourism investments and reduced tax rates, while pursuing policies aimed at eliminating any bureaucratic barriers that may hinder growth in the tourism sector. An official document which incorporates an ambitious and extremely detailed plan to achieve 50 million tourist arrivals and revenues of USD 50 billion by 2023 is on the agenda. This paper is prepared for contributing to the literature on tourism economics based on Turkey which is rare. The aim of this study is twofold; firstly the debut analysis of the funding structure of Turkish tourism sector is realized by using the aggregate balance sheet of 555 tourism companies. Then, a model is proposed by using the linear regression by which the effects of the variables of public incentive disbursements, terrorism index, Real Effective Foreign Exchange Rate, Share of Loans to Tourism Sector in Total Loans provided by financial system, average expenditure incurred by tourist and the tourism receipt level of major and geographically more substitute competitor of Greece on Tourism revenue level is examined.","PeriodicalId":237682,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Health Management and Tourism","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130584777","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, real GDP, unemployment, inflation, under-one-mortality and under-five mortality rates between 1974 and 2015 in Turkey were examined using the ARDL (Autoregressive Distributed Lag) bounds testing approach. As a result of the study, it is concluded that economic growth in terms of real GDP has an adverse effect on child health. Also, it is concluded that economic crises have positive effects on children's health as well as negative effects. This study investigated the relationship between macro economy and child health. The results of the study provide evidence that economic growth may adversely affect child health. This study also provides some clues for policymakers to protect child health from negative effects of economic crises. It is suggested that maternity leaves and financial benefits should be increased to protect child health from the negative effects of economic fluctuation. It is also important to increase the food support to poor families in times of economic crisis.","PeriodicalId":237682,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Health Management and Tourism","volume":"107 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126148407","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
