Through purposive sampling the Twitter account of the Turkish Ministry of Health is analyzed. Only the public advertisements which are published between 11 July 2018 and 11 October 2018 is chosen. The total numbers of the public ads were 59. The results indicated that Turkish Ministry of Health uses twitter in an effective way to communicate with their audience. The visuals and the messages that they use in their designs are used in a balanced way and they both supports each other. They do not only create an awareness on health issues but also try to empathize the importance of blood donation, vaccines and giving a road to ambulance. So it is possible to say that they also use public advertisements in order to make a change on attitudes. Since new media is an important tool, each organization should use it effectively because its power cannot be underestimated.","PeriodicalId":237682,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Health Management and Tourism","volume":"190 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114029708","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Health tourism is divided into three main categories: Old and Disabled Tourism, Spa-Wellness Tourism and Medical Tourism. Health tourism; until the 1980s, the wealthy of the underdeveloped countries; high quality and standardized health care services to developed countries as well as travel towards health care has remained. After the 1980s, developed countries have become more and more affordable treatments because of the increased cost and price of health care services, and they have become more and more traveled in less developed countries that produce quality health care. Countries such as Thailand, Singapore, India and Dubai, which are well-regarded for the health tourism potential that has turned towards the underdeveloped countries, have rapidly become health bases by establishing health facilities with international standards and accreditation documents. Today, social security institutions of many developed countries reduce their costs by negotiating with hospitals that produce health services at the same level as their own countries that have international accreditation in underdeveloped countries, and treating their members cheaper. Pamukkale (Pamukkale-Karahayit-Akkoy-Yenicekent-Saraykoy) region, which has six five-star hotels and various accommodation places and 14.000 beds, Pamukkale which is one of the most important natural beauties of the world and the world has thermal water and mud resources, cannot get a share. Pamukkale; it has the potential to become an appealing treatment center for health tourists who will spend the rest of their life here after the treatment of the city and the rest of the country, as in the Roman period. Only a small part of the tourists who come to Pamukkale benefit from the Elderly and Handicapped Tourism and Spa-Wellness Tourism, because the medical service cannot be provided with this well-organized, well-organized health service and cannot benefit from the medical tourism services because medical service is not provided in the region. Pamukkale, which entered the list of UNESCO world heritage in its natural / cultural category in 1988, is one of the most recognized and well known trademarks of our country all over the world. Health tourism is potentially one of the strongest areas of Turkish tourism supply. This study provides a profile of the health tourism sector in Diyarbakir, Turkey. Although tourism officials discuss from different viewpoints that health tourism is one of the strengths of Diyarbakir tourism for future investment, the promotion of city’s qualified health institutions and staff, historical and natural places, and hospitality of citizens is not adequate in creating demand for health tourism. The aim of the study is to investigate the current status of health tourism in Diyarbakir and to make recommendations for future investments and promotional activities in order to increase number of medical tourists. The study is based on data delivered from tourism and health institutions for the years 2015-2018. The current paper reports that in 2016 and 2017 there is a meaningful increase in total tourist and health tourist number visiting Diyarbakir. Most of the patients received health service from private hospitals and came from Iraq. Germany, Syria and Azerbeijan are the countries which other health tourists come from. Foreign patients received healthcare service mostly from cardiology, orthopedics and traumatology clinics. Internal medicine, urology and general surgery are the following most prefferred health services by health tourists.","PeriodicalId":237682,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Health Management and Tourism","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128192212","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its geographical position, climate and natural resources made it a plausible destination for tourism for several decades. Turkish health care sector attracts international patients both to private and public health facilities. Between 2008 and 2014, roughly 75 % of the patients preferred private hospitals in Turkey. After 2014, there is a decline in total number of international patients in the following years and the percentages of the private institutions starts to decline as well. As of today, Turkey has 46 JCI (Joint Commission International) accredited hospitals and healthcare facilities, making it one of the leading countries in medical tourism. US citizens, by receiving treatment in Turkey can save up to 65 % of their medical costs. Turkish Government has declared in its 10 th Development Plan that Turkey targets to have USD 20 billion income from health tourism by 2023, of which USD 5,6 billion will generated by only medical tourism. One of the private healthcare groups in Turkey, Acibadem Health Group, has implemented an international patient oriented application which helps them to get the best care in Turkey, which is called “Acibadem Health Point”, which helps international patients in every possible step of international healthcare tourism. Acibadem Health Group has regional representative offices in more than 30 countries to provide patients with information about local hospitals, doctors etc., and organizes their visit to their healthcare facilities. They  host almost  30 thousand patients, annually from 5 continents and 47 different countries in 90 different branches and their International Patient Center staffed by a team of 150, providing comprehensive 360 degrees of healthcare services, from scheduling  patients treatment  at Acibadem before arrival to  assisting  their travel back  home.  Sustainable quality approach is indispensable concept in health tourism. We also must rapidly increase the number of best practices in our country such as “health point”. As the level of international healthcare standard increases, the level of satisfaction of foreign patients and user loyalty will also increase. We should never forget that as a health manager.","PeriodicalId":237682,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Health Management and Tourism","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123479601","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
