The object of the study was cows of Hereford breed at the age of 4, 5 and 6 years. Linear assessment was carried out by the method of O.M. Sheveleva (2021). Animals were measured by conventional methods. The measurements were compared with the method of assessing cattle for distinctness, uniformity and stability (DUS). A scoring assessment of the exterior of cows was carried out and a complex class of cows for exterior was determined in accordance with the Procedure and conditions for assessing breeding cattle of meat direction (2010). The research results were biometrically processed by the method of N.A. Plokhinsky, 1969, 1970. Hereford cows were characterized by a harmonious build. All body measurements of full-aged cows increased compared to young animals. Measurement of chest girth increased by 11.7 cm, chest depth - by 2.6 cm, chest width by 2.8 (P> 0.999), width in hook bones by 3.7 cm, (P> 0.999), in hip joints by 3.7 cm, width in ischial tuberosities by 4.0 cm, half-girth of the quarters by 3.2 cm (P> 0.999). Evaluation of the exterior of cows by a 100-point scale indicates that the evaluated cows have a fairly harmonious build that corresponds to the breed type, but concurrently, full-aged cows received a lower score for exterior traits. A significant increase of linear assessment signs with age increment was established. Chest depth increased by 0.94 points, chest width by 1.62, back width by 0.55 points, pelvic width by 1.4 (P>0.999), chest width by 1.62, pelvic width by 0.7 (P>0.95). The method of linear assessment of the exterior is objective and does not require additional equipment. It is possible to recommend approbation of this method on other cattle breeds and to develop clearer instructions for conformation assessment of beef cattle using linear method.","PeriodicalId":23563,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik of Ulyanovsk state agricultural academy","volume":"81 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90458512","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Assessment of parametres of physiological and biochemical status and milk productivity of Holstein cows in case of application of additives is given. The experiments were carried out on 150 cows on the basis of SPK Kolkhoz named after Kalinin, Ulyanovsk Region. The experimental groups of cows were selected by the method of analogues, taking into account age, breed, live weight and physiological state. Before start of the experiment, animal clinical condition was studied. Three groups of 50 cows were formed for scientific and economic experiment and 10 cows for physiological test. Feeding was carried out with diatomite introduction according to the following scheme: the 1st group (control) received only the farm ration (FR), the 2nd group - FR and the addition of modified diatomite at a dose of 300 g/animal/day, the 3rd group - FR and addition of quarry diatomite from the same deposit and in the same amount. The housing conditions of cows in the groups were equal. Milk productivity was recorded according to control milkings. Total duration of the experiment was 90 days. Positive results were obtained, which prove that introduction of modified and quarry diatomite supplements from Sharlovsky deposit of Ulyanovsk region into rations of Holstein cows is effective. Improvement in physiological and biochemical status and protective mechanisms of the body of cows was established. An increase of their average daily milk yield and improvement in its quality were noted when using the tested additives.","PeriodicalId":23563,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik of Ulyanovsk state agricultural academy","volume":"275 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73287072","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Growth of vegetative part, root system, the quality and photosynthetic activity of coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) were evaluated with application of LED lighting in different spectral ratios. Coriander varieties were grown hydroponically on vertical racks using flooding technology. Illumination lamps based on blue, green and red LEDs were used as lighting, with a total PAR intensity of 150 mmol/m²s. Far red 6-12% was added to the main spectrum of illumination. The results showed that application of LED light (mainly red and green, and to a lesser extent blue light) significantly influenced a wide range of parameters of plant growth and development, including photosynthetic activity of pigments, the biomass of shoots and roots. The photosynthetic ability of the leaves was significantly higher under the radiation in the second variant with the addition of far red spectrum of 6% compared to other illumination variants. The root system parameters in different variants of the experiment differed slightly. The most appropriate ratio of LED emission spectra are B(23) :G(53):R(74) mmol/m²s with a far red spectrum share of 12% (option 1) for 'Santo' variety and B(21):G(59) :R(70) mmol/m²s with 6% far red (option 2) for 'Caribe' variety. The conditions of light culture ensure formation of economically useful biomass of coriander plants in a short period of 22-25 days, on average, in the amount of 1.81 kg/m². Studies showed that in case of growing coriander varieties on vertical hydroponics racks, it is possible to obtain high-quality green marketable products in the early stages at threshold values of photosynthetic irradiance.","PeriodicalId":23563,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik of Ulyanovsk state agricultural academy","volume":"55 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79473316","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Khokhlov","doi":"10.18286/1816-4501-2022-2-18-24","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.18286/1816-4501-2022-2-18-24","url":null,"abstract":"One of the ways to increase service life of internal combustion engines is to reduce cavitation wear intensity of the outer wall of the cylinder sleeves. The most promising, at present, method is application of anti-cavitation coating on the outer surface of the cylinder sleeve. The aim of the research was to establish theoretical dependencies that allow to substantiate the properties and thickness of the anti-cavitation material applied to the outer wall of the cylinder sleeve. Theoretical studies of cavitation wear intensity along the destruction depth of the cylinder sleeve wall established that when choosing cavitation-resistant materials, it is necessary to have regard to material structure and give preference to those materials that are characterized by high resistance to microvolumes of plastic deformation under microshock action and are capable of withstanding operating modes over a wide temperature range. The materials of the polytetrafluoroethylene group - fluoroplasts - most fully meet these requirements. Studies of the fluoroplastic coating applied to the outer wall of the cylinder sleeve, using the obtained theoretical dependencies, showed that the minimum wear rate of the cylinder sleeve of 0.0006 mm3/cycle is achieved with a fluoroplastic coating thickness of the outer surface of the cylinder sleeve with a thickness of 1.8 mm. In this case, the difference in heating of a typical sleeve and a sleeve with a fluoroplastic coating with an increase of the heating temperature of the inner wall of the sleeve decreases from 15% at a temperature of 50 °C to 5.7% at a heating temperature of 150 °C, that is, the application of a fluoroplastic coating on the outer wall of the cylinder sleeve does not lead to a change in the heat stress of the cylinder sleeve and will not affect the heat balance of the internal combustion engine. Thus, the obtained theoretical dependences make it possible to establish and justify not only the properties of the anti-cavitation material, but also the thickness of its application to the outer surface of the cylinder sleeve.","PeriodicalId":23563,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik of Ulyanovsk state agricultural academy","volume":"37 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74189804","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problem is relevant, since the issues of age selection of producers have developed relatively recently in industrial aquaculture and have not been enough studied yet. As for practical fish farming, specialists often face the problem of low quality of fish gametes that are too young or old enough. The aim of the study was a comparative assessment of the age-related variability of reproductive ability and viability of African catfish offspring. African catfish breeders at the age of 12, 24, 48, 60 months were selected for the research, four experimental groups were formed. The parameters of fertility and the quality of reproductive products, linear and weight growth of the offspring, as well as its viability were studied. The results of the study showed age-related changes in the quality of reproductive products, embryos developing from them, and subsequent larvae. Differences in egg fertility, viability of embryos and larvae, and the size of larvae obtained from producers of different ages were established. All parameters indicate that the parents’ age significantly affects the quality of their offspring. As for study of reproductive products of female African catfish of different ages by a number of parameters, such as size and diameter of eggs, certain differences were established in morphometric and physiological parameters of eggs and sperm. The study of the effect of parental age on offspring survival rate in embryonic and postembryonic periods showed that the offspring survival rate of first spawning females was the lowest and increased as the parental individuals matured. The viability of offspring in middle-aged groups of breeders was the highest.","PeriodicalId":23563,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik of Ulyanovsk state agricultural academy","volume":"63 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87980661","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such feed additives include \"PRAVAD\" polyvalent functional feed additive. The aim of the research was to study the effect of the new feed additive \"PRAVAD\" on parameters of fish antioxidant system. In order to accomplish this, two groups of sexually mature African catfish were formed. The first experimental group received PRAVAD feed supplement containing probiotics, adaptogens, essential amino acids and vitamins. It was used in addition to the main diet - \"Som\" feeds of LimKorm company. The control group, which was the second, received only LimKorm “Som” feed. Three months later, the content of glutathione (GSH) and the activity of glutathione-S-transferase (GST) were examined. As for fish reared with application of \"PRAVAD\" polyvalent functional feed additive, the GSH level of males was two times higher than that of the fish of the control group. GST activity in the group of males and females fed with the feed additive was more than 30% higher than in fish of the control group. The obtained results indicate that application of \"PRAVAD\" polyvalent functional feed additive in the diet of African catfish is highly effective and leads to a decrease of the damaging effect of oxidative stress. This mechanism is realized by increase of glutathione level and glutathione-S-transferase activity, both of which increase resistance to free radical and peroxide processes.","PeriodicalId":23563,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik of Ulyanovsk state agricultural academy","volume":"56 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91521034","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Of particular interest are studies aimed at finding associations for parametres which characterize features of build and growth of animals. The aim of this work was to search for single nucleotide polymorphisms and candidate genes associated with height at the shoulder, one of the main measurements that allows to judge the conformation characteristics of sheep. The object of the study was 12-month-old Russian Merino meat rams (n = 50), bred on the Stavropol Territory. Animal genotyping was performed using DNA biochips of Ovine Infinium HD BeadChip 600K; genome-wide association analysis was performed using PLINK V.1.07 software. In the course of the work done, significant associations were found between the height at the shoulder and single nucleotide substitutions of 3, 10 and 18 chromosomes of sheep of Russian meat merino breed. Polymorphisms are located in the region of introns of protein-coding genes (rs422409900, rs413412092) and intergenic regions (rs414158152, rs430384069, rs415673748). A negative regression coefficient is observed in five analyzed substitutions. Location of analyzed substitutions in relation to the latest Oar_rambouillet_v1.0 genome annotation allowed to reveal 4 new candidate genes associated with height at the shoulder of sheep: RALGAPA1, MEIS1, AFTPH, SLC25A21.
