The aim of the study\u0000was to survey Aedes aegypti larval breeding habitats and analyze vector indices. The survey was conducted in Alobied\u0000town, North Kordofan State in the in the selected 17 sites during September–November 2018. The mosquito immature\u0000stage including larvae and pupal stage of the genus Aedes were collected from the surveyed positive containers by\u0000sweep nets. The finding of the study showed that Aedes aegypti was the only species detected in water containers.\u0000Out of 226 houses were inspected a number of 84 houses were found positive. From a total of 784 containers were\u0000inspected with 136 containers positive. The House index (HI) during the period from September-November, 2018\u0000was found to be 37.2%, the Breatu index (BI) was 10.7%, and container index (CI) was 17.3% while the pupal per\u0000demographic (P/D) was 0.05. No significance differences between Aedes aegypti indices during different months. It\u0000can be concluded that Aedes aegypti was prevalent in Alobied town. CPT1 (carnitine palmitoyltransferase I)\u0000is a beta-oxidation enzyme required for the breakdown of fatty acids. The gene coding for CPT1 is alternatively spliced\u0000to produce two different products that vary in their activity. When the splicing SR protein 9G8 is knocked down in the\u0000fat body of Drosophila, the CPT1 splicing pattern is altered. A linear search algorithm was developed that parsed\u0000through FASTA files of the CPT1 gene region and sought out sequences that matched known binding sequences of\u00009G8. We expected a result in exon 6A that would signal its inclusion but unexpectedly found a match in exon 5 of the\u0000CPT1 transcript. We theorized that 9G8 and the SR protein competitor RSF1, interact with one another for binding\u0000sites on the CPT1 gene to result in different isoforms. Additionally, TG data indicated that 9G8 and RSF1 KD flies\u0000displayed statistically significant higher TG levels than their control suggesting a potential cooperative relationship.\u0000We next performed a starvation resistance experiment and found that 9G8 and RSF1 KD flies phenocopied starvation\u0000resistance suggesting that both proteins interact to result in the same CPT1 product. We are using qPCR to determine\u0000if there is a difference in the AS of CPT1 among flies with decreased expression of 9G8, the SR protein antagonist\u0000RSF1 and the SR protein shuttle TRN-SR.

It is the third most common vascular disease in the world, after myocardial infarction (MI) and stroke, affecting millions of individuals every year. Two main clinical manifestations of VTE include deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), the later one being potentially fatal. Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate whether mutations in two genes VKORC1 and CYP2C9 and subsequent changes in their plasma levels can be used to predict the risk for venous thromboembolism (VTE). Method: A total of five polymorphisms in two genes VKORC1 and CYP2C9 were genotyped in approximately 145 VTE patients and 229 control subjects. The genotyping was done through PCR-RFLP method. Plasma concentrations of VKORC1 and CYP2C9 were estimated using ELISA technique. Results: Genotypic analysis of common polymorphisms in VKORC1 gene showed significantly higher percentage of GG genotype of -1639G>A, CC genotype of 1173 C>T and TT genotype of -497T>G polymorphism in control subjects compared to VTE patients. Also, significantly higher percentage of CC genotype in 416C>T and AA genotype in 1061 A>C polymorphism of CYP2C9*2 and CYP2C9*3 genes respectively was observed in VTE patients in comparison to healthy controls. In addition to genotypic significance, plasma concentrations of both VKORC1 and CYP2C9 were significantly higher in patients group. Conclusion: All the three polymorphisms in VKORC1 gene; -1639G>A, 1173 C>T and -497T>G and two polymorphism 416C>T and 1061A>C of CYP2C9 gene showed significant association with VTE pathophysiology

In this disease, children appeared normal at birth and met usual developmental\u0000milestones up to the age of about 4-5 months. At that time, infants began to lose muscle tone and could no longer\u0000control their head movements. The disease was progressive, and by age 2, characterized by enlargement of the head,\u0000spastic responses to stimulation, and a general listlessness. By age 3, blindness was apparent and there was extension\u0000and posturing of limbs due to uncontrolled muscle contractions. Death usually occurred between ages 3-4. In large\u0000family’s common at that time, there could be 2-3 afflicted children out of a total of 8-9 siblings. There is no metric\u0000to measure pain and suffering of CD children, but we can measure progress made over the past century in solving\u0000the mystery. At the present time, there are great expectations that a human cure is possible since a mouse model of\u0000CD was recently shown to be completely cured by an unusual genetic engineering outcome. In this short review are\u0000chronicled key findings made over the past 100 + years that have led to identification of the genetic and cellular\u0000etiology of CD, and the reasons for such encouragement.
