Panax notoginseng (Burk.) F. H. Chen, a member of the Araliaceae family and commonly known as Sanqi or Tianqi, is a valuable herbal medicine used to treat various diseases. The majority of saponins (ginsenosides) found in Panax notoginseng belongs to the dammarane triterpenoid group, exhibiting beneficial biological effects, including the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, pain, inflammation, and injuries, as well as internal and external bleeding caused by injury. The aglycone portion of ginsenosides possesses a steroid-like hydrophobic four-ring structure, similar to steroid hormones. Recent studies have indicated that the Panax notoginseng ginsenoside saponins (PNS) have steroid hormone-like activities, bringing the potential for endocrine disorders treatment. Thus, this review aims to provide the chemical structure and steroid hormone-regulating effects of ginsenoside saponins in Panax notoginseng. (CKHT) in animal models. Hard capsules were prepared using the volumetric method, with Avicel PH 102 as the diluent excipient and magnesium carbonate as the adsorbent excipient. The acute toxicity of CKHT was assessed on white mice at a dose of 2,400 mg/kg body weight. The anti-inflammatory effect was evaluated using a carrageenan-induced paw edema model in rats, while the analgesic effect was tested using an acetic acid-induced writhing model in mice. The results showed that CKHT administered at the doses of 102.2 mg/kg/day, 204.4 mg/kg/day, and 408.8 mg/kg/day had significant anti-inflammatory effect on the carrageenan-induced rat paw edema model by reducing the paw volume and increasing the percentage of edema inhibition compared to the untreated group (p < 0.001). The dose of CKHT 408.8 mg/kg/day showed anti-inflammatory effects that similar to aspirin at the dose level of 200 mg/kg/day (p > 0.05). In the analgesic study, mice treated with CKHT at the doses of 188.7 mg/kg/day, 377.4 mg/kg/day, and 754.8 mg/kg/day had significant reduction in acetic acid-induced writhing within 30 minutes compared to the untreated group (p < 0.001). Furthermore, CKHT did not show acute toxicity (no LD50) at the dose of 2,400 mg/kg body weight. These results suggested that CKHT exhibited acute analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects in animal models. Keywords: Dried extract from Siegesbeckia orientalis L.; capsules; anti-inflammatory; analgesic. ","PeriodicalId":23520,"journal":{"name":"VNU Journal of Science: Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences","volume":"3 6","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135935849","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is the first and only tyrosine kinase inhibitor currently approved for the treatment of multiple histological subtypes of soft tissue sarcoma (STS). In previous studies, we presented initial results regarding the synthesis of 3-methyl-5-nitro-2H-indazole (3) as an important indazole component on a laboratory scale (approximately 10 g/batch). In this study, we have successfully synthesized this compound (3) at a scale of 200 g/batch, achieving an overall process yield of 79.6 % from the starting material ethylaniline. This yield is higher than that reported in previous publications. Some of the technical conditions that have been improved include optimizing the amount of sulfuric acid in the nitration reaction, the amount of acetic acid, sodium hydroxide in the diazotization reaction for ring closure, reaction temperature, and the feed method to control the reaction safely and achieve high efficiency at a scale of 200 g/batch.","PeriodicalId":23520,"journal":{"name":"VNU Journal of Science: Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences","volume":"16 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135268448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The consequences of these syndromes are often fatal in the fetus and neonate. Prenatal screening for these syndromes is important for early detection of birth defects. 212 medical records of pregnant women with normal pregnancies were selected using convenience sampling. Selection of 34 cases of Edward or Patau pregnancy using a total sampling technique. We conducted a descriptive retrospective study to describe and compare various markers related to prenatal screening to establish the most appropriate diagnostic criteria. A history of spontaneous abortion is associated with an increased risk of subsequent pregnancies with Edward's or Patau's syndrome. The nuchal translucency value was mainly concentrated below 2 mm, lower than the values observed in Trisomy 18 and 13 cases, predominantly in the 2-3 mm range. A threshold of 2.5 mm for nuchal translucency measurement had the highest detection rate for Edwards and Patau syndromes, and abnormal fetal heart rate was most commonly observed in trisomy cases on ultrasound examination. The MoM fβ-hCG concentration in the Edwards and Patau groups was predominantly concentrated in the low range (≤1), while the normal group showed a higher concentration in the range of 1-3. The MoM PAPP-A concentration in the normal group was commonly found in the range of 0.5-1, which was higher compared to the trisomy group. ","PeriodicalId":23520,"journal":{"name":"VNU Journal of Science: Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences","volume":"C-19 11","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135273210","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the research on pharmaceutical staff, who are also a significant contributing force in prevention at the hospital, is still limited. The study was carried out by a cross-sectional descriptive method. A total of 125 pharmacy staff working at the medical facilities were directly interviewed. The χ2 test was used to test the relationship between factors with α = 0.05, and the odds ratio (OR) with a 95% confidence interval was calculated. The obtained results showed that the percentages of stress, anxiety, and depression among pharmacy staff were 67.2%, 12.0%, and 10.4%, accordingly. Situational stress, anxiety, and depression correlated to education levels, monthly income, and weekly working time. This research emphasized the importance of mental health care for health workers. It promoted the state management agency to organize training courses and share soft skills with pharmaceutical staff to overcome difficulties and bad psychology while on duty at the department.","PeriodicalId":23520,"journal":{"name":"VNU Journal of Science: Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135926444","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
