The main focus is on comparing the positions of liberal and conservative publications regarding the assessment, motives and consequences of signing agreements, as well as the role of Donald Trump and his administration. Based on the material considered, it is concluded that conservative publications are more consolidated and complementary in their attitude to the \"Abraham Agreements\", while in liberal publications the spread of opinions is sometimes diametrically opposed, with a noticeable bias towards a skeptical point of view.","PeriodicalId":234634,"journal":{"name":"Russia and America in the 21st Century","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130974517","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is expressed, among other things, in political preferences. With the development of transport infrastructure and income increase, Americans began to migrate more often, choosing for residence areas with people with similar politic views. Such migrations form electorally homogeneous regions, which may eventually lead to isolationism and even tribalism. This phenomenon is called “The Big Sort”. The study proposes to identify the dynamics of polarization of the American nation, as well as agglomerations with different electoral preferences using a new quantitative method – Partisan Voting Index.","PeriodicalId":234634,"journal":{"name":"Russia and America in the 21st Century","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125418421","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The culprit according to the Russian academic environment is Washington. This is true, however, from the point of view of political realism, the reasons why the United States decided to withdraw from the ABM Treaty and the INF Treaty, as well as it is in no hurry to extend START III, seem quite natural. The article touches upon these reasons and concludes that none of the three aforementioned treaties meet the modern requirements, and the current state of Russian-American relations is unlikely to allow a constructive dialogue in the near future to achieve mutually beneficial agreements. The dilemma of China, which is not burdened with such agreements, is also considered separately as a state without which it is no longer possible to imagine the modern world order.","PeriodicalId":234634,"journal":{"name":"Russia and America in the 21st Century","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125310098","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

US President D. Trump holds that this is a victory for his administration, which will help reduce the trade deficit with Japan. In general, the new agreement provides American farmers with access to the Japanese market and, to some extent, creates an atmosphere of stability in bilateral relations. However, over the time that has passed since the United States exited the TPP, the countries remaining in the free trade zone received significant advantages. For example, access to the Japanese market has become much easier for major agricultural exporters such as Australia, Canada and New Zealand. The Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between Japan and the EU entered into force in February 2019. This led to the situation when American manufacturers are already at a disadvantage, and it will not be easy for them to withstand the competition for the Japanese market, even if the new trade agreement enters into force in 2020. What is extremely important in the light of the U.S. trade war with China and the attempts of the Trump administration to reduce the trade deficit with major partners, the agreement does not include any provisions concerning American tariffs on Japanese vehicles and parts. Thus, the threat of imposing restrictions on these categories of goods, constantly used by the Trump administration as an instrument of pressure in negotiations with Japan (as well as with other countries), remains, although its implementation is still unlikely.","PeriodicalId":234634,"journal":{"name":"Russia and America in the 21st Century","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128731832","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Today the world is on the way to a new world order, and the book by Richard N. Haass proves it convincingly. The Yalta-Potsdam system of international relations now is a part of the past and is being replaced by the world in a disarray. The United States of America have a chance to be among the leaders of the «world order 2.0», but before that they should do a massive homework, come to agreement with the other «big powers» and be flexible enough to face all the changes in the world. Are they ready enough for this?","PeriodicalId":234634,"journal":{"name":"Russia and America in the 21st Century","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133057399","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
