PV should be suspected with hemoglobin >10.2/9.9 mmol/L (m/f) and/or PV-related features (aquagenic pruritus, erythromelalgia, atypical thrombosis, splenomegaly, thrombocytosis or leukocytosis). This case report highlights the connection between PV and neurological manifestations, including rare symptoms like chorea. An 82-year-old woman presented with sudden choreiform movements, dysarthria, and behavioral changes. Investigations ruled out primary neurological disease and confirmed PV. Lung volume reduction can be performed either through surgery or endobronchial valve treatment. Both treatment options are effective in carefully selected patients. This review presents an updated status on the indications, effects, and complications of both types of lung volume reduction. We describe a newborn girl who developed drug-resistant severe seizures of unknown origin. Genetic testing revealed a pathogenic variation in the KCNQ2-gene, known to predict epilepsy with treatment difficulties. Targeted treatment with oxcarbazepine was started, resulting in seizure control and normal development. In Denmark, treatment has been centralised since 2008 to three specialised university hospitals to ensure a high quality of treatment. Elbow arthroplasty generally yields good functional and patient-reported outcomes, but with high rates of revision and complications. Minimally invasive procedures increase the risk compared with open surgery, while robot-assisted techniques appear less harmful. Key physical risk factors include static postures, awkward positions, and long-lasting surgeries. Productivity, career longevity, and healthcare efficiency may be impacted. Both patients were treated with venesection and hydroxychloroquine for their PCT. The patients received treatment with glecaprevir/pibrentasvir, resulting in the eradication of HCV and long-term remission of PCT. This review finds that existing data indicate that non-antibiotic treatments, such as cranberry products, methenamine hippurate, and vaginal estrogen for postmenopausal women, demonstrate efficacy comparable to low-dose antibiotics. These alternatives should be prioritised to reduce antibiotic use, development of resistance, and side effects. Porphyrins are sensitive to light and cause cutaneous symptoms in the form of blisters and ulcers on sun-exposed skin. This review gives an update on diagnosing, monitoring and the treatment of PCT. PCT is often effectively treated with venesection or/and low-dose hydroxychloroquine.
