SLD now includes metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), alcohol-related liver disease (ALD), and metabolic and alcohol-related liver disease (MetALD). The renaming aims to better incorporate alcohol intake and metabolic risk factors into disease classification and to diminish the stigma associated with the previous nomenclature. Early identification of the patient’s aetiology is important for the prognosis which can be improved by interventions against the causative risk factors.","PeriodicalId":23428,"journal":{"name":"Ugeskrift for laeger","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141009645","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

PrEP has been available in Denmark since 2019 and consists of antiretroviral drugs in a combination tablet taken daily or on demand. The effect of this prophylaxis in Denmark is summarized in the review. PrEP is indicated in men and transgender persons with unprotected anal intercourse with multiple male partners in the latest 12 weeks or recent diagnoses of syphilis, chlamydia, or gonorrhoea. PrEP is provided by infectious disease specialists. Continued implementation could significantly reduce HIV transmission and potentially end the epidemic in Denmark.","PeriodicalId":23428,"journal":{"name":"Ugeskrift for laeger","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141009349","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Compassionate and conscious conversation conducted by healthcare professionals is a way to alleviate existential suffering. In this review, we present a simple conversation tool which can be used to structure and build experience in end-of-life conversations and alleviation of existential suffering. The tool aims for patients to feel dignified and better understood in their existential questions and for doctors to feel better equipped in helping the patients with their suffering.","PeriodicalId":23428,"journal":{"name":"Ugeskrift for laeger","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141007356","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
