[First case of Candida glabrata endocarditis in Greenland].
Candida glabrata, also known as nakoseomyces glabrata, is a rare cause of endocarditis. This is the first known case of C. glabrata endocarditis in Greenland. In this case, the patient was a 70-year-old woman with a history of mild aortic valve stenosis, in which candidemia was found in blood cultures drawn during a 14-day postoperative ICU stay after small bowel obstruction. Two months later, the patient had persistent candidemia and a 25 mm fungal vegetation on the native aortic valve. The patient died shortly after the diagnosis was made.
