[Porphyria cutanea tarda and hepatitis C infection].

Abstract

We present two case reports with resolution of PCT following treatment with direct-acting anti-virals for hepatitis C infection (HCV): An 82-year-old woman and a 60-year-old woman with PCT caused by HCV. Both patients were treated with venesection and hydroxychloroquine for their PCT. The patients received treatment with glecaprevir/pibrentasvir, resulting in the eradication of HCV and long-term remission of PCT. The cases illustrate the importance of screening patients with PCT for underlying HCV, and initiating relevant treatment for HCV, as this may lead to remission in PCT.
