Patients with negative antiSSA/Ro, antiSSB/La, ANA, and RF antibodies comprised the seronegative group, while patients with at least one positive antibody were included in the seropositive group.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The most common clinical features between the groups were arthralgia (81.2%), arthritis (11.5%), hematological involvement (19.8%), and pulmonary involvement (11.8%). In 41 patients (10.3%), no autoantibody positivity was detected. The number of patients with at least one extraarticular involvement was statistically more frequent in the seropositive group (p = 0.011). Dry mouth was found to be more prevalent among seronegative patients (p = 0.003). While hyperimmune gammaglobulinemia exhibited a higher prevalence within the seropositive group (p = 0.004), the occurrence of reduced complement levels was at similar rates in both groups. All deaths were observed exclusively within the seropositive group (17/358, 4.7%). No difference was observed between the two groups concerning mortality (p = 0.237) and malignancies (seropositive group: 9/358, 2.5% vs. seronegative group: 3/41, 7.3%, p = 0.115). There was a statistically significant association between low C4 levels (OR = 2.99 [1.09-8.16], p = 0.045 in model 1, OR = 3.10 [1.14-8.42], p = 0.022 in model 2), and the extraarticular findings.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>While hematological, renal, pulmonary, and neurological involvements are observed with similar frequency in both seronegative and seropositive pSS patients, the presence of extraarticular manifestations was more common in seropositive patients. However, they could be positive in other diseases and even in healthy populations. The aim was to investigate the prevalence of positive RF and anti-CCP antibodies in persons admitted to hospital for any reason and on a national scale.</p><p><strong>Materials and methods: </strong>The National Electronic Health Database, which contains the clinical records of over 80 million people, was used to design this multicenter, retrospective cohort study. The subjects included in the study were divided into age groups according to 10-year periods. RA cases were identified using ICD-10 codes that included M05, M06, M08, and their subgroups. RF and anti-CCP positivity were evaluated in terms of their contribution to the risk of being diagnosed with RA, with the change according to age and sex.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>During the 1.1.2018-31.12.2021 period, 13,918,072 RF tests were performed in 11,849,440 people, whereas 1,183,607 anti-CCP tests were performed in 1,020,967 people. Moreover, 797,089 people had both tests performed at least once. The RF positivity rate in patients who only requested RF tests was 14.72% and it was 35.04% for anti-CCP positivity in those who only requested anti-CCP tests. The rate of concomitant RF and anti-CCP positivity was 22.56%. An RA diagnosis was made in 27.8% of RF-positive people, 39.73% of anti-CCP-positive people, and 56.6% of co-RF and anti-CCP-positive people. RF positivity and concomitant RF and anti-CCP positivity increased with age and were more common in females.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>RF and anti-CCP positivity may be seen in a healthy population with female predominance. As age increases, the risk of RF positivity rises, but anti-CCP positivity does not change. However, abscess formation can occur following this treatment. This study aims to endow YAS glass microspheres with antibacterial properties to address the abscesses forming in patients after radioembolization treatment.</p><p><strong>Materials and methods: </strong>In this study, undoped YAS glass microspheres and those doped with antibacterial agents zinc (Zn) and/or copper (Cu) were successfully fabricated using a sol-gel derived method.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>After heat treatment, the microspheres exhibited an amorphous structure. Additionally, the incorporation of Zn and/or Cu dopants did not alter the patterns observed in the X-ray diffraction analysis. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis detected Si-O-Si, Al-O-Al, and Y-O band vibrations within the structure. The presence of Zn and Cu dopants was confirmed through X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that all samples possessed a regular microsphere morphology, with average particle sizes ranging from 6 to 50 μm. They are grouped as hemiarthroplasty (HA), anatomical total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA), and reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA). The patients' demographic data, length of hospital stay, revision histories, transfusion rates, mortality data, trends in arthroplasty methods over the years, the distribution of cases by hospital characteristics and geographical regions were analyzed.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Treatment with HA was administered to 22.1% of patients, TSA to 30.2%, and RSA to 47.7%. The lowest revision rate was observed after HA (4.3%), while higher rates were recorded after TSA (7.9%) and RSA (7.4%) (p = 0.019). It was observed that there was a significant increasing trend in RSA rates and a decreasing trend in HA and TSA rates over time (p < 0.001).</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>From 2016 to 2022, there appears to have been a significant increase in the utilization of RSA for the arthroplasty treatment of proximal humeral fractures in Türkiye, and it is used more frequently than HA. Due to the resistance and toxic effects that patients develop against the drugs, an effective treatment method has not been developed for melanoma yet. In this study we evaluated the anticancer effect of usnic acid (UA) on A-375 melanoma cells and human epidermal melanocytes using the xCELLigence real-time cell analysis system.</p><p><strong>Materials and methods: </strong>To determine the cell death pathway through which UA exerts its antiproliferative effect, its potential for apoptotic effects was investigated. Caspase-3 and caspase-9 enzyme assays and the expression analysis of 84 genes from the apoptosis pathway were carried out in UA-treated and nontreated A-375 cells.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>UA was found to have an antiproliferative effect on A-375 cells while it did not have a cytotoxic effect on human epidermal melanocytes. UA treatment led to statistically significant increases in both caspase-3 and caspase-9 enzyme activities. Moreover, the expression levels of 61 genes (mainly proapoptotic genes) were increased and the expression levels of 23 genes (mainly antiapoptotic genes) were decreased in response to UA treatment. This research was conducted to examine the relationship between microbiota awareness, nutrition literacy, and health literacy in adolescents.</p><p><strong>Material and methods: </strong>This research was structured with a descriptive-correlational design. The study population comprised adolescents aged 10-19 years, living in Türkiye (n = 739), between June 2022 and February 2024. Data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0, G*Power 3.1, and R programming language 4.1.3.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The total effect of the health literacy variable on nutritional literacy was 0.2311, and this was statistically significant at a 95% confidence interval (CI) (p < 0.05). In terms of the health literacy variable, the direct effect of the nutrition literacy variable on the microbiota awareness variable was 0.2888, and this was statistically significant at the 95% CI (p < 0.05). In terms of the nutritional literacy variable, the direct effect of the health literacy variable on the microbiota awareness variable was 0.1707, and this was statistically significant at the 95% CI (p < 0.05). Nutrition literacy had a partial mediating role in the effect of health literacy on microbiota awareness (lower limit CI: 0.045; upper limit CI: 0.0894). The most accurate prediction of machine learning approaches to predict microbiota awareness was made with random forest with shapley additive explanations values, and the most important variable that should be in the model to predict the microbiota awareness variable was the nutrition literacy variable.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>Microbiota awareness increased as health literacy and nutrition literacy increased. In the machine learning approach prediction, the most important variables affecting microbiota awareness were health literacy and nutritional literacy. In recent years, there have been studies suggesting that fascial plane blocks may be an alternative to TPVB. The objective of our study was to determine the efficacy of combined deep and superficial serratus anterior block (C-SAPB) as an alternative to TPVB in the management of postoperative analgesia in VATS.</p><p><strong>Materials and methods: </strong>The patients were divided into two groups: the TPVB group and the C-SAPB group. Both groups were administered the same dose of local anesthetics. Multimodal analgesia was achieved for the groups. The primary outcome measure was visual analog scale (VAS) pain scores recorded within the first 48 h of the postoperative period in each group. The secondary outcomes were analgesic requirement, rescue analgesics, complications rate, and postoperative patient satisfaction.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Thirty patients with C-SAPB and 30 patients with TPVB were analysed. VAS rest and VAS coughing scores were similar between the groups (p > 0.05). Demographic and side effect conditions, total morphine use, additional analgesic needs, vital parameters, block procedure time, and patient satisfaction were also similar between the groups (p > 0.05). Additionally, although block application times were comparable, the time was slightly shorter in C-SAPB.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>Similar analgesic efficacy was observed between C-SAPB and TPVB. TPVB maintains its place among the first choices in VATS. The efficacy of C-SAPB is comparable to that of TPVB. This leads to various health problems such as depression, burnout, fatigue, and hopelessness, resulting in decreased interest in a medical career and an increase in career choice regret.</p><p><strong>Materials and methods: </strong>The study included 300 volunteer resident physicians from Ankara University Medical Faculty Hospital. The data for the research were collected using a survey form prepared by reviewing the literature. The survey consisted of three parts, which questioned the physicians' sociodemographic characteristics and professional choices, including the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-Short Form (DASS-21) items and the Decision Regret Scale.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Of the physicians, 216 (72.0%) chose the medical faculty due to personal preference. The percentage of those who were not regretful about their career choice was 14.3% (n = 43). Those not regretful about their career choice had fewer years in the profession than the others. According to the categorical assessment of the DASS-21, 73.7% (n = 221) of the physicians had depressive symptoms ranging from mild to severe, 78.7% (n = 236) had anxiety symptoms ranging from mild to severe, and 57.7% (n = 173) had stress symptoms ranging from mild to severe.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>Mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, and stress were common among the resident physicians independent of their sociodemographic characteristics, and this was also associated with the level of career regret. Hence, the aim of this study was to perform the Turkish adaptation of the Vestibular Migraine Patient Assessment Tool and Handicap Inventory (VM-PATHI).</p><p><strong>Materials and methods: </strong>After the language and content validity was completed, a pilot study was conducted. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were conducted to test construct validity, and as a result of the validity analyses, Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficient and test-retest analyses were conducted for reliability.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>In the study, in which 289 participants were evaluated, the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin coefficient was calculated as 0.903. The percentage of variance explained by the EFA was 67.246% and the range of factor load change was 0.433-0.828. The scale structure was tested with CFA and the model was confirmed with adequate goodness of fit index values.
