The modern fishing industry in Ukraine is a highly industrial, capital-intensive, integrated production with high production costs, which is designed to ensure the socio-economic development of many coastal regions and provide the population with valuable protein products necessary for healthy eating. The total volume of extracted aquatic organisms in III and IV zones of aquaculture of Ukraine was studied; dynamics of catches of aquatic organisms by regions and fishery zones on the territory of Ukraine; the structure of fishing by regions in the inland waters of Ukraine is analyzed; the leading representatives of catches in inland waters of Ukraine by regions were identified. Considering the dynamics of catches of aquatic organisms in inland waters from 2005 to 2020, it was found that production decreased significantly in almost all Ukraine regions and some regions decreased to almost zero. Studies have shown that the total production of aquatic bioresources in 2005 amounted to 42.364 tons, in 2010 – 37.615 tons, in 2015 – 35.985 tons, in 2020 – 22.267 tons. In all periods, leaders among the production in inland waters are Odesa and Cherkasy regions. Comparing the data for 2005 and 2020, it can be seen that catches have almost halved. It is established that, according to the analysis, the main representatives of the caught ichthyofauna are: grass carp, carp, crucian, bream, silver carp, ram, pike perch, pike, perch, catfish. The structure of catches for the whole period remains almost unchanged. The largest catches (2019) are: carp – 1704 tons; silver carp – 675 tons Sumy region; crucian carp – 398.8 tons; ram (flat) – 364.5 tons Kyiv region. The main species found in the catches of other regions are – the Volyn region – carp (237 tons), Zhytomyr region – silver carp (300 t), Lviv region – carp (499 tons), Rivne region – carp (134 tons), Ternopil region – carp (342.4 tons), Khmelnytsky region – carp (279.2 tons), Chernihiv region. – carp (352.8 t). Pike, grass carp, and catfish were the least caught in the whole territory of Ukraine. It should be noted that several factors that affect fish stocks of inland waters, and consequently catches, most often consider the impact of environmental factors, destruction and inefficiency of spawning grounds, age and sex structure of populations, poaching, etc.","PeriodicalId":231752,"journal":{"name":"Ukrainian Journal of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123319391","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aquaculture objects in the pond are cyprinid fish species (carp, grass carp, silver carp, pike). The ecological conditions of the pond were evaluated as good enough for the fish fattening purpose. The critical water quality parameters were following traditional values accepted for fish farming in Ukraine. The taxonomic composition of plankton and benthos was represented by widespread and Ubiquiti species mainly. The 124 species and intraspecies taxa of microalgae and the 34 species of zooplankton were identified in the Kantivka fattening pond. The mean abundance and biomass for the phytoplankton were 183.8 million cells/dm3 and 35.61 mg/dm3, respectively; for zooplankton, those were as 336600 ind/m3 and 14.83 g/m3, and for zoobenthos, those values were as 309.6 ind/m2, and biomass as 5.84 g/m2. Such parameters of natural forage base correspond to the optimal values for natural fish food according to fish farming standards in Ukraine. In the late summer, the free-living copepod stages and mature adult females of the parasitic copepod crustacean Ergasilus sieboldi Nordmann were registered in plankton. This copepod causes the invasion of fish diseases like infection and destruction of gill arches, which leads to a severe disturbance in fish respiration, emaciation, delaying in growth, and the potential death of commercial fish even. The development of natural fish food in the Kantivka fattening pond is shown an intensive level of biomass and abundance of phytoplankton, zooplankton, and zoobenthos. It is considered sufficient to meet the natural nutritional needs (in combination with artificial feeding) for older age groups of the cultivated cyprinid fish species.","PeriodicalId":231752,"journal":{"name":"Ukrainian Journal of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130460165","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The disease is of fungal etiology and highly contagious. The pathogen can stay in the environment for a long time and pose a risk of human infection. Cats, especially those walking on the street, are a significant factor in transmitting the infection. Spores of Microsporum canis can persist on the surface of the cat's body for a long time and, under favorable conditions, can provoke clinical manifestations of the disease. Under these circumstances, they are intensively distributed in the environment. Therefore, choosing the optimal therapeutic approach to solving this problem is essential. Treatment of sick animals should be practical and aimed at preventing the spread of the pathogen and cost-effective and beneficial to both veterinary specialists and owners of sick cats, as the duration of treatment is on average 14–21 days in order to determine the cost-effectiveness of treatment of microsporia in cats with the antifungal agent “Micromar” and immunostimulant “Biogluk” in comparison with other schemes, the calculation of the cost-effectiveness ratio CER. This made it possible to obtain accurate and complete data, as it took into account the cost of treatment and the number of animals that recovered during the complex therapy. Sick animals were divided into three groups. Each sick animal received treatment for 21 days. The first group was treated with the systemic antifungal itraconazole and treated with a 1 % solution of clotrimazole. The second group was vaccinated twice with Vakderm antifungal vaccine and treated daily with a topical antifungal agent (1 % clotrimazole solution). The third group used the antifungal agent “Micromar” and immunostimulant “Biogluk”. To control the quality of therapy, culture was performed on the nutrient medium for dermatophytes from the affected areas of the animal's body. The calculation of cost-effectiveness indicators showed that the treatment of cats with microsporia is effective in all groups of studied animals, as recovery occurred in each patient. However, the costs of therapy are different. In particular, in the first group, the CER coefficient is – 48.00 hryvnias, in the second – 42.00 hryvnias, in the third – 13.00 hryvnias.","PeriodicalId":231752,"journal":{"name":"Ukrainian Journal of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences","volume":"49 6","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133239016","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The estrous cycle is divided into the following stages: proestrus, estrus, diestrus, metestrus, and anestrus, which due to the action of hormones, replace one after another. This feature of the estrous cycle leads to some difficulties with reproduction. It is hard to obtain newborns because of prolonged anestrus. Vaginal cytology is a simple and available diagnostic method of the estrous cycle. It is based on the analysis of vaginal mucosa epithelial cells changes. This method is used to determine the time of mating and diagnose pathological conditions in the reproductive system of female dogs. There are various drugs in veterinary medicine for the correction of the estrous cycle in female dogs. We used implant Suprelorin® to estrus induction. There were described methods of estrus stimulation using a subcutaneous implant Suprelorin (4.7 mg, deslorelin) and changes in vaginal epithelial cells using the vaginal cytology method. The study was performed on twelve (n = 12) adult female dogs in the anestrus stage. Implants were injected subcutaneously in the groin area and removed at the beginning of the estrus.","PeriodicalId":231752,"journal":{"name":"Ukrainian Journal of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133080143","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two groups of dogs were formed for research: control (healthy) and experimental (sick). The 30-day experiment included ten dogs from the control group, ten dogs of the observed (unhealthy) spaniel breed, and 10–12 years old dogs. The treatment regimen for sick dogs: furosemide was administered orally on an empty stomach at 2 mg/kg every 12 hours; enalapril was administered orally at 0.5 mg/kg every 12 hours; Bendamine was administered orally on an empty stomach at 20 mg/kg every 24 hours. It is recommended to divide the dose into two doses. In the study of hematopoiesis, we found that erythrocytes in dogs with heart failure increased by 18.2 %, while hemoglobin levels decreased by 1.8 %. Before treatment, red blood cell counts were found to reduce the mean hemoglobin in the erythrocyte and the mean erythrocyte volume. In the experimental group of dogs treated with the “Bendamine”, normalization of morphological blood parameters was found. The number of erythrocytes was 5.8 ± 0.06 T/L, and the hemoglobin level was 143.5 ± 4.7 g/L. The use of the drug “Bendamine” contributed to the gradual restoration of the functional state of the hematopoietic system in dogs with heart failure. This is also indicated by the red blood cell index of the dogs after the course of treatment. The therapy application in the experimental group significantly reduced the frequency and severity of shortness of breath and increased endurance during exercise. There was also a decrease in the frequency and duration of cough attacks. After treatment, signs, and intensity of ascites decreased in dogs of the experimental group. It has been suggested that this is due to an increase in myocardial contractile function due to the positive ionotropic action of Bendamine. The owners also recorded an improvement in appetite in animals after 30 days of therapy. Even in the dogs of the experimental group, after treatment, physical activity and emotional reactions improved. They were less depressed and more inclined to communicate with the owners. Thus, the use of the cardiac drug “Bendamine” in dogs with heart failure positively affected the restoration of hematopoiesis and the normalization of morphological parameters of the blood.","PeriodicalId":231752,"journal":{"name":"Ukrainian Journal of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123944027","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Protein malnutrition is one of the leading causes of poor growth and increased care of birds. However, excessive feeding of poultry with protein is impractical because the protein, in this case, is not fully used and harms the body, delaying its development. The lack and the excess of amino acids are harmful to a bird. Due to the imbalance of amino acids consumed with food, about 30 % of their amount is not used by the body for protein synthesis and is lost converted into energy. When normalizing the amino acid needs of poultry, it is necessary to consider the interaction of amino acids in the body with vitamins, micro-minerals, energy levels in feed. The article presents a study of the effect of the biologically active additive Activio, a selected combination of natural standardized active substances isolated from aromatic herbs and spices concentrated in one microencapsulated particle on the amino acid composition of Peking duck meat and cherry valley cross. Lime honey, buckwheat honey, flower honey, forest honey, and acacia honey were tested to evaluate their antagonistic effect against a test culture of enterobacteria of bees of Klebsiella pneumoniae species. The study was conducted in several stages: 1. Determine the activity of honey microflora against a pure culture of enterobacteria of bees of Klebsiella pneumoniae bee pathogens; 2. The identification and isolation of Bacillus subtilis – bacteria-antagonists against Klebsiella pneumoniae bee pathogens; 3. Determine the antagonistic effect of pure culture of Bacillus subtilis against a pure culture of enterobacteria of Klebsiella pneumoniae bee pathogens. The antagonistic action of honey microorganisms and the determination of the most effective honey species were established by the diffusion method in agar wells. Staining of typical colonies from different types of honey revealed bacillary colonies of Gram-positive bacilli with endospores. Isolation of clean culture was conducted by a method of Gold. The cultural, tinctorial, and morphological signs of bacteria have been consistently determined in all investigated kinds of honey and coincided with characteristics of the Bacellaceae family. Specific belonging of bacteria-competitors was identified by biochemical typing. After determining their physiological properties in reactions and tests (activity of catalase, oxidase, urease, the ability to grow at different temperatures and to ferment carbohydrate substrate), the distinguished stamms of microorganisms from the investigated kinds of honey belong to the type of Bacillus subtilis. The repeated estimation of antagonistic action of pure cultures of Bacillus subtilis (isolated from each type of honey) against a pure culture of enterobacteria of bees of Klebsiella pneumoniae species confirmed their high activity. This type of microorganisms can represent the alternative component in probiotics at the therapy of dysbiosis of bees.","PeriodicalId":231752,"journal":{"name":"Ukrainian Journal of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134561217","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To quantitatively evaluate cell viability, currently there are two main types of sensitive methods including real-time cell analysis (RTCA) and CCK-8 assay, in which RTCA records electrochemical signal changes around an incubated cell, whereas CCK-8 is based on the colorimetric method. Despite the different detection principles adopted for the cytotoxicity assessment, the comparison of the two methods in terms of the application scope is lacking. In order to compare and determine the best experimental method for the study of the toxicity of chlorogenic acid extract from taraxacum officinale on dairy cow mammary epithelial cells. The real time cell analysis (RTCA) and CCK-8 method were used to analyze the cytotoxicity of chlorogenic acid extract to BMEC and calculate its IC50. The results of the real time cell analysis method and the CCK-8 method showed that different concentrations of chlorogenic acid extract reduced the viability of dairy cow mammary epithelial cells, and the decrease was most obvious at 400 ug/mL. The IC50 of the two analysis methods were 326.8 and 320.4 ug/mL, respectively. In contrast, the CCK-8 method had limitations in fixed-point determination. However, the real time cell analysis method can monitor the dynamic biological response process of cell growth and proliferation in real time. Therefore, the real time cell analysis method can observe cell growth more intuitively and accurately, compensate for the shortcomings of the CCK-8 method, and it is a new experimental method for studying cytotoxicity.","PeriodicalId":231752,"journal":{"name":"Ukrainian Journal of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences","volume":"77 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123714511","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
