The variation in the plasma density has a profound effect on the spatial beam plasma instability. In addition, an applied external static magnetic field leads to enhanced power absorption from the electron beam, and accordingly to plasma heating in beam-plasma system.","PeriodicalId":231600,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Nineteenth National Radio Science Conference","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-11-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130211497","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The MOSFET LNA was simulated and designed with a 0.5 /spl mu/m CMOS MOSIS process. It was concluded that the use of low-cost and high integration CMOS technology results in a penalty in the power dissipation and frequency response which are much better in bipolar technology. The comparison is performed at an operating frequency of 1.0 GHz.","PeriodicalId":231600,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Nineteenth National Radio Science Conference","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-11-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132242681","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A description of the origin of fading is described. The tested propagation system is one of the microwave links of Future Television in Lebanon. Data acquisition software is used to record the received power. The obtained results are compared to the theoretical values. Finally a space diversity technique is used to improve the performance of the system.","PeriodicalId":231600,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Nineteenth National Radio Science Conference","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-11-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127153758","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The ever evolving applications of 3G mobile systems are so demanding that the most efficient techniques for channel coding should be employed. Turbo codes have been shown to yield an outstanding coding gain close to theoretical limits in the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. They have been studied over a Rayleigh fading channel as well and showed a remarkable performance. We propose a turbo coding scheme to replace the convolutional coding already in use in the General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) system (known as 2.5G). Evaluation of the proposed encoder by means of computer simulation has shown performance improvements over the two channel models considered.","PeriodicalId":231600,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Nineteenth National Radio Science Conference","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-11-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132941310","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The moment method is applied to find the rigorous solutions of the current distributions on bifilar, quadrifilar and octafilar helix antennas of different helix lengths. Comparisons of calculated and available experimental results for a quadrifilar helix antenna are presented, indicating good agreement. A cardioid shaped radiation pattern with excellent circular polarization over a wide angle is obtained for the octafilar helix antenna. For a 1/2 turn octafilar helix antenna, the axial ratio is less than 3 dB for /spl theta/ ranging from -65 to 65 degrees, while the gain varies from 13.7 dB at /spl theta/=-65/spl deg/ to 16.5 dB at /spl theta/=0/spl deg/. The radiation characteristics of an octafilar helix antenna on a conducting box are illustrated.","PeriodicalId":231600,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Nineteenth National Radio Science Conference","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124241281","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
