The objectives of the research are to describe the technique as well as to analyze the process of translating medical texts that apply within the scope of learning of these students. This study is descriptive research, of the text analysis type (content analysis), using primary data taken from students. The data of this research were collected purposively from the respondents by referring, talking and taking note techniques. The analysis process uses methods of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification. After analysis, the results of the study are as follows. The most popular translation techniques used in the translation of medical texts are borrowing techniques, amplification, established equivalent, adaptations and reductions which appear to be inseparable from the influence of the level of competence and the culture of language use of the translators. The translation process that is applied is analyzed in two groups which are groups that perform ideal stages: analysis, transfer and adjustment by rearranging existing sentences, and groups that do not perform the ideal stage: analysis and adjustment. In general, this happens because of the considerations of the students regarding the purpose of translating the text itself. The stage will be carried out perfectly if there is a demand assessment, and is not perfect if it is only as a reference in making relevant tasks. With different cultural backgrounds, ethnicities, this group has its own uniqueness, especially in language. This research succeeded is finding expressions in the fishermen community in the coastal area of Sario-Malalayang. These expressions consist of forms of words, phrases, and clauses in accordance with the lingual forms of theory from Widdowson (1997: 3). The results of the study found a number of lingual forms in affixed words, which had a similar prefix as in the words ba-daseng, ba-kintu, ba-tono, ba-saoh, ba-pake. In addition, the majority of phrases contained in the results of the study are predominantly dominated by noun phrases, such as in the lips phrases of napo, puru loe, coolies, ikang itching, mulu sosoroka, gargantang tubir.This research also succeeded in exploring and discovering cultural meanings. The meanings in the form of words, such as ‘badaseng’, ‘sunga’, then the form of a phrase, like ‘puru loe’, ‘mulu sosoroka’, then sentence expressions in the form of expressions like ‘udang deng katang so kurang sama’, ‘kase wora mar jang talapas’, ‘karja cuma sampe di kuli aer’, etc. The expressions encountered generally contain various cultural meanings, namely advice, satire, ridicule, seduction, warning, insults, and despair. The data are collected through recording from interview, cut the recording into several one-word recordings, and then the data are analyzed with Praat to determine the pitch, duration, and intensity of each syllable. Through the data analysis, it is found that the Tontemboanese word stress is a fixed word stress, and the position of the stress is generally in the penultimate syllables. It also called as requesting question. The difference will be recognized from sentence classification perspective. In defining interrogative sentence, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics can be used as the classification tool (Leech, 1981). From syntactic point of view, there are two kinds of interrogative sentence; 1) informative interrogative sentence and 2) confirmative interrogative sentence. Informative interrogative sentence has information request toward one of the element the proposition maker. In this context, proposition maker element can fill one of the syntactic function slot in sentence as function of predicate, object, and complement. But confirmative interrogative sentence requires for distinction of a proposition. Practically, the form is yes or no question. Syntactically, interrogative in Indonesian can be recognized from the question word used. There are many varieties of this type. However, only two elements serve as the basis of interrogative sentence; they are what and where. The derivation of the word apa are who, why, when, how much or how many, and if; the derivation of the word mana are where, where to, from where, how, and when. Semantically, interrogative sentence can be identified from its semantic role of the word that filled the syntactic slot; they are function of predicate, object and complement. In subject function, interrogative sentence can explain the meaning of a deed, time, agent, amount, existence and identity. In object function, it can explain meaning of the target, object, and tool. In semantic role, it can explain the meaning of place, time, member, tool, meaning, cause and target.Keyword: Interrogative sentence, Indonesian language, kind of interrogative sentence","PeriodicalId":229186,"journal":{"name":"Kajian Linguistik","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128042019","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objectives of the research are to describe the distinctive features among synonymous nouns in Malay Manado language. This research is descriptive research, of the type of the text analysis (content analysis), using the primary data (written) taken from Kamus Bahasa Malay Manado and the secondary data from the informants. The data were collected using the documentary method, listen and note taking method, and elicitation method. The analysis process was done using the orthographic similarity method because the standards are in the written form. Then, the similarity technique used was connect and compare equate technique (teknik hubung banding menyamakan (HBS)); and connect and compare distinguish technique (teknik hubung banding membedakan (HBB)). The analyses revealed the following: most Malay Manado nouns have near synonyms; there are general semantic features among the synonymous pairs of nouns; the pairs of the synonymous nouns are near synonyms because there are some distinguishing features (there are differences in aesthetic sense among the speakers, there are differences in the medium of sentences which use synonymous nouns, there are uncommon usage of nouns considered synonymous, and there are influences of dialects in the use of synonymous nouns). The use of synonymous nouns in the communication (both in spoken and written texts, both formal and informal usage), requires the accuracy on the part of the speakers due to the fact that there are distinguishing features in each of the synonymous pairs.
