Such notch filter responses can be achieved if the topology synthesized includes arbitrary frequency variant impedances and line lengths in the main series line of filters, otherwise similar to those in [1], as was shown in [2]. The networks of [2] exhibit lowpass characteristics above the notched passband. In this paper, we substitute high pass sections for some of the lowpass series inverter sections of [2], thereby achieving selectivity both above and below the notched passband. This removes the frequent requirement to “window” the notched passband (add a bandpass filter) for harmonic and subharmonic suppression. The resulting filters exhibit lower loss than earlier “windowed” notch assemblies, provide selectivity above and below the system passband, without sacrificing notch characteristics required within the system passband.","PeriodicalId":225547,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Wireless Symposium (IWS 2014)","volume":"125 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114479342","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Five-conductor coupled line Marchand balun is designed and utilized for the LO and RF signal input. Instead of using conventional input port matching method, the complex impedance of the diode ring is directly matched with differential single-stub networks between the balun and diode ring, which realized a compact layout for the matching network, and greatly improved the return loss of the LO port, thus enhanced the mixer operation bandwidth. Measured results coincide well with the simulations: the conversion gain is -9.2dB ~ -11.9dB for RF and LO frequency from 40GHz ~ 50GHz, and IF frequency is DC ~ 10GHz, with the LO power level of +15dBm. The typical LO-RF isolation is 33 dB with minimum value of 19.3dB for LO between 35GHz to 50 GHz, and the IIP3 is above +12.6dBm for 40GHz ~ 50GHz, which is suitable for the China millimeter wave communication standard “Q-LINKPAN”.","PeriodicalId":225547,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Wireless Symposium (IWS 2014)","volume":"280 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114488674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed transmitter consists of DACs, LPFs, variable gain I/Q up-conversion mixer, a divide-by-two circuit with LO buffer, and a drive amplifier. By combining DAC, LPF, and variable gain I/Q up-conversion mixer with a simple current mirror configuration, the transmitter's power consumption is reduced and its linearity is improved The drive amplifier is a cascode amplifier with gain controls and the 2.4-GHz I/Q differential LO signals are generated by a divide-by-two current-mode-logic (CML) circuit with an external 4.8-GHz input signal The implemented transmitter has 30 dB of gain control range, 0 dBm of maximum transmit output power, 33 dBc of local oscillator leakage, and 40 dBc of the transmit third harmonic component. The broadside CP pattern is generated by a corner-truncated patch antenna. The conical CP pattern is generated by a rotationally symmetric folded metallic strip, which is fed at centre. A prototype of the diversity antenna operated at 2.4 GHz has been built. Simulations show that the overlapping frequency bandwidth with reflection coefficient less than -10 dB and axial ratio (AR) less than 3 dB for both broadside and conical patterns is about 1 % (2.411 ~ 2.433 GHz). The method reconstructs the excitation source of all elements utilizing the sparsity of the excitation vector, which improves the accuracy of the source reconstruction. Meanwhile, the sparse excitation source reconstruction provides straightforward information on the failing elements. However, same as other diagnosis methods, the diagnosis reliability of sparse excitation source reconstruction depends on the position of near field observations. In order to facilitate the positioning of near field observations, this work presents numerical study on the diagnosis reliability against the position of near field observations. Based on numerical experiments, guidelines on positioning near field observations are presented.","PeriodicalId":225547,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Wireless Symposium (IWS 2014)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124867889","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work comes from the experience acquired during the VI EU Framework network “Antenna Centre of Excellence (ACE)” [2] as reported in [3-9]. During that project, the different facility comparison activities spanned the range from L-Ka band using different highly stable antennas. The vast amount of data from different measurements institutions within Europe and US were used to establish a reference pattern for each of the high accuracy reference antennas. The reference patterns and the data from the facility comparison activities are considered important instruments to verify the measurements accuracies for antenna measurement ranges as well as to investigate and evaluate possible improvements in measurement set-ups and procedures. In this paper, we report on a system verification and validation activity performed with the SATIMO BTS1940-04 antenna and compare the results to the the highly accurate EurAPP reference pattern of the similar antenna SATIMO BTS1940-01. Future activities include the measurement of the antenna used in the EurAAP activity for more accurate comparison.","PeriodicalId":225547,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Wireless Symposium (IWS 2014)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131405059","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

MIMO is based on the use of multiple antenna systems within the mobile terminal as well as the base station. Such antenna systems are required to fit within the hand-held terminal which occupies a small size. Antenna integration is one of the major challenges because strong mutual coupling occurs between closely spaced array elements in compact arrays. In this paper, a novel design of 4-port compact MIMO antenna system with reduced mutual coupling is presented. The proposed decoupling network consists of reactive elements, the values of which can be calculated by eigenmode analysis. The mainline is implemented with cascading four λ/4 resonators via alternative J and K inverters, while the weak cross coupling path is created with a J inverter between the 1st and 4th λ/4 resonators. The resultant bandpass filter features a generalized Chebyshev in-band frequency response with a pair of determined finite transmission zeros. All the values of pertained J and K inverters are synthesized from the coupling matrix and judiciously extracted based on the fullwave simulation. Finally, a microstrip quadruplet bandpass filter centering at 2.4 GHz with a fractional bandwidth of 10.0% is designed via the proposed synthesis approach.
