The SSB up-converter consists of two resistive IQ mixer cells, on-chip Marchand balun and two Lange couplers for quadrature LO signal generation. The Marchand balun is designed with common-mode rejection to achieve better in-band amplitude and phase balanced behavior. The external IF quadrature hybrids avoid the bulk passive circuits in MMIC chip. Besides, they will ease the implementation of up-converter with lower sideband (LSB) or upper side-band (USB) suppression. The measured results show conversion loss of 11 dB and sideband suppression higher than 20 dB from 75 to 90 GHz. LO to RF isolation and RF output 1dB compression point have been measured to be more than 30 dB and -4 dBm, respectively. The resistive SSB up converter consumes no DC current and the chip size is only 2 × 1.5 mm2.","PeriodicalId":225547,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Wireless Symposium (IWS 2014)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130775719","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The model uses PIN diode electrical parameters such as DC forward current, I-region thickness and the temperature-dependent mobility and carrier lifetime as parameters. Impedance behavior is shown over frequency and temperature as examples of the mathematical model and the model is verified with experimental. Good agreement is seen between the model and measured data. The results show that the forward bias impedance is strongly dependent on the carrier lifetime temperature coefficient that has been shown to be a function of diode cross-section and surface passivation.","PeriodicalId":225547,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Wireless Symposium (IWS 2014)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127895236","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper employs the relay selection to maximize the received signal-to-noise ratio of Alamouti distributed orthogonal space-time block coding (Al-DSTC) in a two-relay networks. It makes collective use of the Alamouti distributed orthogonal space-time block coding and relay selection to implement an effective scheme. It is shown in this work that the proposed scheme obtains full diversity order and provides an additional array gain compared to conventional Al-DSTC and cooperative beamforming. The receiver can always find the optimal selected relay by exhaustive search where the number of relays is only two. Our results show that the proposed scheme preserves full diversity order and provide additional array gain by less transmit power when compared with other cooperative protocols. Also, the proposed scheme increases life time of the relay since 50% of the time the relay is off.","PeriodicalId":225547,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Wireless Symposium (IWS 2014)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125905051","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A series ESD inductor together with two shunt ESD diodes and an bonding (probing) pad form a Pi-type network, acting like an ideal wideband 50-ohm transmission line with a loss of only 0.6 dB at 60 GHz. Under a power consumption of 27 mW, the ESD-protected LNA presents a 4.1-dB NF and 18.5-dB power gain at 60 GHz, respectively with a 3-dB bandwidth up to 7.7 GHz. The transmission spectrum shows a multi-passband characteristic. To eliminate the radiation loss associated with the higher-order modes, a ground plane is introduced to the CSP structure, and it is found that the dispersion curves and transmission spectrum exhibit the similar feature as that of the CSP structure without ground, but with much less radiation loss. The multiband transmission characteristic of the CSP structure has also been applied to design bandpass filter (BPF). It is found that by combining CSP structures with different groove depth the passband of the BPF could be tuned. The designed BPFs have been validated with both the full-wave simulations and the measurements on fabricated prototype at microwave frequency.","PeriodicalId":225547,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Wireless Symposium (IWS 2014)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134394707","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
