A serious social issue facing modern Pakistani society is a rapid rise in drug addiction among students. Drug traffickers have stepped up the use of media to trigger demand for drugs in many countries including Pakistan, India, and Thailand. The media had a significant impact on their decision to start abusing drugs. Previous studies show media encourages teen substance use. So, this study is designed to determine the link between the use of media and drug use among students in two universities in Khairpur City. An exploratory research method was employed because society is traditional and no substantive research has been carried out on the issue in the country. A random sampling technique was adopted to collect data. The target population for this study was students of two Universities in Khairpur. An online close-ended questionnaire was adopted and distributed among students of two universities online. Python was employed to analyze the data. Results establish links between the use of media and drug use among the students. Moreover, students spending two hours on social media are exposed to information related to drugs, which puts them at increased risk of drug use.","PeriodicalId":225408,"journal":{"name":"Progressive Research Journal of Arts & Humanities (PRJAH)","volume":"121 37","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140378996","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The younger generation, devoid of direct memories of past conflicts, is being swayed by narratives surrounding Kashmir, border skirmishes, and cross-border terrorism. The youth on both sides of the border have not seen an active war since the 1999 Kargil crises. Policy makers, politicians and defenders in Pakistan and India have not made efforts to apprise themselves with the opinion of youth that how do they see the hostilities between the two countries. This research is an attempt to explore the impact of propaganda and political exploitation regarding cross-border threats on the opinion of youth in both countries. Understanding the perceptions and insights of the youth regarding bilateral relations and conflicts is crucial for fostering peace in the region. Such studies are imperative for potential peace initiatives, future inter-state relations, trade perspectives and progressive interdependencies.","PeriodicalId":225408,"journal":{"name":"Progressive Research Journal of Arts & Humanities (PRJAH)","volume":" 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140382045","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, majority madrassas students come from poor background because they cannot afford or acquire education in general subjects, compared to kids of their age studying in private and government schools which leads to feelings of perceived deprivation. To measure the impact of such deprived feelings on the madrassa students, this study applied quantitative method to examine the impact of perceived feelings. Out of 283 registered madrassas, 40 were selected randomly, whereas, 25 Questionnaires were distributed to each madrassa. The model was tested using structural equation modeling to examine the effects of low and high income, and the mediating impact of perceived deprivation on the criterion constructs. The moderating effects of low income indicate that six out of nine hypotheses were found significant; whereas the results for the impact of high income on criterion constructs demonstrate that out of the nine hypothesized relationships, only four were found significant. Nevertheless, the effects of perceived deprivation (mediation) demonstrate that the mediation with funding, religious gatherings and ethnic and religious affiliation have significant effects on the radicalization. On the other hand, the mediation effects between syllabus and radicalization were found statistically non-significant.","PeriodicalId":225408,"journal":{"name":"Progressive Research Journal of Arts & Humanities (PRJAH)","volume":" 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140389620","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study has been conducted to highlight the key causes of irregular distribution of development funds in Balochistan and find out their serious implications for people in general. To get the authentic and validated results, a rich dataset has been obtained from the various sources of Government of Balochistan, non-governmental organizations and federal agencies. The results of the study reveal that political groups and top-level bureaucracy influence resource allocations during the course of budget making process. Politicians and other top bureaucracies keep their own interests in mind and divert public resources to develop their own districts. The districts which are poor in socio-economic indicators, are supposed to be allocated more funds but they are ignored. The study has tried to answer the question that what factors are involved in the proper distribution of provincial funds and how to address the issue. However, the study reveals that there is a serious influential impact of senior ministers of cabinets who have always dominated the provincial development funds which ultimately result in the enhanced poverty ratio, and backwardness in other districts of Balochistan which lack proper and influential representatives.","PeriodicalId":225408,"journal":{"name":"Progressive Research Journal of Arts & Humanities (PRJAH)","volume":"216 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140233994","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was a co-relational study; survey method was used for data collection. There were two hypotheses in the study. 1. Maternal and paternal rejection would be significant predictors of internet addiction among young adolescence.2. Male and female students would significantly differ on internet addiction. Sample of the study comprised of 844 young adolescence including 389 male students, and 455 female students. Participants of the study was collected from three universities of Jamshoro District. The age range of participants was between 16 to 28 years. For the measurement of variables Parental Rejection and Internet Addiction three valid and reliable tools were administered on the sample of the study: 1. Parental acceptance / Rejection questionnaire. First, Internet addiction tests; second, Adult PARQ and control: Mother and Father, Personality Assessment Questionnaire; and third Questionnaire about the demographical variables of the respondents. Results of Hierarchical multiple regression analysis indicate that both maternal and paternal rejection are strong predictors of internet addiction F (1, 842) = 32.62, p = < .001, and paternal rejection predicts internet addiction more strongly than maternal rejection. t (1,841.90) = 4.72, p = < .001, with a small effect size of r = .16. Over all the study indicates a string role of parental rejection in the development of internet addiction among young adolescence.","PeriodicalId":225408,"journal":{"name":"Progressive Research Journal of Arts & Humanities (PRJAH)","volume":" 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138618526","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
