Data were collected through the written stories and experiences of 37 subjects aged 19-20 years. Using thematic analysis with constructionist epistemology, this research found four major themes across the stories. Subjects portrayed that happiness is a condition in which the subjects: (1) Enjoy the moment, (2) Subjectively, (3) Support from others, and (4) Self-worth. These findings have implications for research models on happiness that can be directed at welfare issues at various levels, namely individual, interpersonal, organizational, and communal which are interconnected and influence each other.","PeriodicalId":225204,"journal":{"name":"Suksma: Jurnal Psikologi Universitas Sanata Dharma","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132234970","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Li. Buku yang terbit di tahun 2007 ini, ditulis berdasar hasil studi etnografi yang dilakukan di Indonesia tentang upaya-upaya para akademisi dan teknokrat ‘membangun’ Indonesia, khususnya di daerah-daerah yang seringkali dinamai dan dikategorikan sebagai ‘daerah tertinggal’. Buku ini mengajak pembaca menyadari ironi yang melekat pada upaya-upaya para akademisi dan teknokrat untuk memperbaiki atau memajukan suatu kelompok atau daerah. Li berargumen bahwa entah disadari atau tidak, disengaja atau tidak, seringkali melalui kehendak baik untuk ‘memajukan’ suatu kelompok atau daerah, para akademisi dan teknokrat justru semakin meminggirkan dan merendahkan mereka yang hendak dimajukan tersebut.Menurut Li, ironi tersebut bersumber pada kegagalan atau keengganan para akademisi dan teknokrat untuk melihat persoalan dalam perspektif yang lebih luas. Para akademisi dan teknokrat dipandang cenderung abai pada peran faktor-faktor struktural (tatanan sosial, ekonomi dan politik) dalam membentuk persoalan hidup suatu kelompok, serta cara-cara yang mereka pakai untuk menghadapi persoalan tersebut. Sebagai akibatnya, para akademisi dan teknokrat cenderung melihat suatu persoalan semata-mata sebagai situasi yang berawal dan berakhir pada orang-orang yang mengalaminya. Dengan kata lain, persoalan dilihat sebagai akibat dari adanya sesuatu yang problematik dalam diri orang-orang yang mengalaminya.Dengan cara pandang semacam ini, para akademisi dan teknokrat cenderung lebih sibuk untuk menyusun berbagai teknik yang bisa digunakan untuk ‘mengintervensi’ (memodifikasi, mendidik, mengembangkan, memajukan) individu-individu yang mengalami persoalan tersebut. Sementara, sistem dan struktur sosial yang seringkali menjadi akar dari persoalan tersebut justru diabaikan. Melalui kecenderungan seperti inilah, para akademisi atau teknokrat justru berisiko untuk turut mereproduksiatau melanggengkan persoalan yang ingin diatasi. Mengacu pada argumen ini, Li mengajak pembaca untuk menyadari bahaya dari teknikalisasi persoalan atau kecenderungan untuk melihat suatu persoalan sosial sekedar sebagai persoalan teknis dari individu-individu yang mengalaminya. Istilah persoalan teknis disini merujuk pada cara atau strategi pengelolaan yang bisa dikembangkan atau dilakukan seseorang dalam rangka mengatasi persoalan yang dihadapi.Diskursus publik tentang pandemi COVID-19 bisa menjadi salah satu contoh yang mencerminkan relevansi argumen Li di atas. Disiplin perilaku individu menjalankan protokol kesehatan (memakai masker, rajin mencuci tangan, menjaga jarak) memang mempunyai peran yang krusial dalam pengendalikan penyebaran virus. Namun demikian, ketika diskursus publik maupun akademis melulu hanya difokuskan pada aspek tersebut, maka para pemangku kepentingan akan abai pada peran faktor struktural yang mempunyai peran lebih menentukan, seperti misalnya akses dan ketersediaan air bersih, vak","PeriodicalId":225204,"journal":{"name":"Suksma: Jurnal Psikologi Universitas Sanata Dharma","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133666709","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The independent variable in this study is work-family conflict, while the dependent variable in this study is work-family balance. This study has one hypothesis, this hypothesis is that work-family conflict has a negative and significant relationship to work-family balance. This type of research is mixed methods research, which combines qualitative research methods and quantitative research. This study uses a convenience sampling technique. The subjects of this are women who are Hindu, live in Bali, and carry out the roles of mother, wife, work, and krama adat, totaling 388 people. The scale used in this study is a scale that has been adapted from Carlson et al. (2000) for work-family conflict variables with a reliability of 0.87 for time-based WIF, 0.79 for time-based FIW, 0.85 for strain-based WIF, 0.87 for strain-based FIW, 0.78 for behavior-based WIF, and 0.85 at behavior-based FIW. In addition, the scale used for the work-family balance variable was adapted from Bintang and Astiti (2016) with a reliability of 0.911. The scale is filled by the subject in a self-report. The analysis technique used for qualitative data is thematic analysis techniques with MAXQDA 2018 tools. The result of qualitative research is that work-family conflict is one of the causes of work stress in working Balinese mothers. In quantitative data, non-parametric correlation analysis techniques are used with SPSS for windows version 22. The results of the analysis that have been carried out show that there is a negative and significant relationship between work-family conflict and work-family balance. This means, the higher the level of work-family conflict in an individual, the lower the level of work-family balance in that individual. This article reports the research that conducted to investigate the meaning of happiness in children’s perspectives. The author conducted group interview with 55 students in grades 4 to 6 of elementary school living in Yogyakarta. The children were asked to share their opinion about the image of a happy child. The 64 responses obtained were analyzed thematically and categorized into 8 themes. The two most dominant themes reflect happiness as a state of harmony with others and having a kindness. Happiness is also interpreted as positive feelings, engagement in activities, and positive thoughts. In small number of responses, children associated happiness as a satisfaction related to themselves such as a sense of ability/achievement, live up to expectations, and having freedom. The results indicate that children's happiness contains the same components as adults but with different indicators such as satisfaction in some areas and lower engagement intensity. The results also show that in addition to the universal, there are also typical meaning of happiness due to cultural influences.
